Title: best way to fill the GBA slot on my new DS?
Post by: regis on December 06, 2005, 01:55:28 PM
I finally got a DS (MarioKart edition) and I'm looking for suggestions on how to fill the GBA slot. What I want is added functionality or fun for hopefully under $100. Here are some suggestions to get the ball rolling--keep in mind that I never owned a GBA so I don't have any GBA games.
DS rumble pak (seems kind of pointless if you ask me, but cheap) Play Yan micro (I already have an ipod, so this might not be my best option either) flash cart (I can play GBA, SNES etc. roms on one of these, right? How?) GBA game (suggestions...)
I really want something that doesn't stick out much more than a GBA game would. I would really like some sort of a flash cart, but not some big, bulky, $200 behemoth. Can you see my dillema? Thanks.

Do you like Zelda? I recommend Minish Cap if you do...
(No talking of roms here, by the way...)

Mine used to be filled with Advance Wars 2, up until the DS version came out. Now I just have Ogre Tactics in there, which isn't exactly the best pick up and play game, but so it goes.

Gunstar Super Heroes, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Ninja Five-O, Mario & Luigi, Minish Cap.

My advice is to just stay the hell away from GBA games because they're mostly a massive waste of time and money! But I have that Sonic Advance + Sonic Pinball Party thing in there and that's okay I guess. Sonic Team: BEHOLD, THE NiGHTS MUSIC, SQUISHED AND RAPED FOR GBA!

That's Infernal, he always posts junk. The problem is that he's often the first to greet new users who probably don't know that he's talking utter crap. Wouldn't surprise me if a few people took him seriously and suffered as a result.

If you have a favorite classic Super Mario Bros. game, one of the Mario Advance games would be a good pick, as would a Sonic Advance game. Minish Cap is great, but it isn't good for a quick gaming session.

Well, first you get some vegetable oil, see? You have to heat it up first, and then you...

Man, even I don't like where I'm going with this.

Haha, down in Oz GBA games are hilariously overpriced, so excuse his brashness...

Mario Kart Super Circuit is more expensive than Mario Kart DS.
Oops, recommendation! Mario Vs. Donkey Kong is my favourite GBA game, it's an incredibly fun platformer / puzzler and it has about a billion levels to keep you busy.

I agree with most recommendations here and add Sabre Wulf and Racing Gears Advance if you can findthem anywhere on this planet.

I'll get MPP and get the DS rumble pak just for M&L2 and whatever other games that use it, as for GBA game I say Megaman Zero 1-4, Metroid Fusion/Zero, or Wario Ware 1/ twisted!, and I don't think the Play Yan micro is out yet?

If you want a decent-to-good space shooter, you might want to check out Iridion II.

You mean bad-to-decent. Iridion 2, like most seen-from-behind shooters sucks.

My faves are all the Mario Ports Sonic Advance titles Lunar Legend and if you liked Kingdom Hearts on the Ps2 Get Chain of Memories, I dont care what others say, I find it highly fun! It really shows off what the potential of the GBA could do.

Pokemon Pinball is also good for a quick game that you can save and turn off at any time...not much commitment needed for it.

Try this. I haven't seen one in stores, but it seems like a kind of cool idea.

If you have Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team DS then go with Boktai 2.

I've seen a picture of that before, that's pretty freaking cool.

Metroid: Zero Mission is good. Check a nearby gamestore and see if they have it used. GBA games are sturdy and its rare you'll ever find a used copy that has been beaten to the breaking point.

It's a case for your DS games. It can hold up to three games and fits inside the GBA slot on your DS. Basically it's just a handy way of being able to carry around extra games without a separate case.

Neat. If I didn't have a GBA game in mine at all times, I'd think about picking one up. There *needs* to be a way to transport some games along with just the system itself. Here's hoping the eventual redesign will have a small place for just such a purpose.

Maybe stapling your lips together, lathering them with hot metal, and sticking your lips in there?
