Title: Uplifting News: Current Sales
Post by: CrYpTiC on February 21, 2003, 01:54:55 PM
These sales are current from The Magic Box. These are how many consoles were sold for 2003.

PlayStation 2   542,600
GameBoy Advance 602,800
GameCube  153,600
Xbox 35,000

These probably aren't the exact figures, but look at Nintendo go! GameCube blew away the xbox and the GBA is beating the PS2. If only the GC sales could be that high, but good news!!

Hi all im new here.  Hope you people can help me out if I break a rule or something.  Well on to the subject.  I'm glad that Nintendo is finally getting back in the game!  A couple of the reasons for this is probably the low cost of the system and the great Exclusive games.  Add some advertising for a change and you got yourself a winner.  I mainly think the console is selling so well is beacause of a certain game and preorder deal *cough*zelda*cough*

Note-this is my first post tell me if its good and give me some pointers

I myself have all 3 systems. While i do favor the PS2, i really would like to see GC ahead of Xbox in overall sales. I dont expect either to beat out ps2 though, for obvious reasons.

I'm not sure if it  was Japan sales, it just said total (I'm not positive if it was Japan though) anyway news is news, and if Nintendo could keep up the strong sales things will look good. We have Zelda coming, online play (hopefully) the GBA SP just released, and E3 coming, hey Nintendo could have a excellent future.

i can honestly find those numbers being realistic outside of japan. ever since this free game deal started, i dont remember selling but maybe one xbox. the rest are ps2's and gamecubes. im not counting game boys though. but right now, as far as hardware sales go, if counting game boy, nintendo is on the top.
but i do believe nintendo will take the number 2 spot here in the U.S. pretty soon. and i also expect to see that the next few months the gamecube will be on top of the xbox in sales as well. i mean, the free games with the gamecube are very good games, whereas the games with the xbox are kinda average in my opinion. i didnt like jet set and i hate racing games. but if the xbox does the halo deal that ive been hearing about lately, i might just be enticed to buy the xbox and commit the ultimate sin.

From Japan eh?
Well, with Gameboy SP released the sales have been positive!
Obviously Gamecube is beating the X-Box.
If only it was USA sales, or more importantly (to me) Australian sales.

Here I went that other topic, and pulled out the worldwide sales, which is what I think you intended to post.

January Hardware Sales

PS2: 448,000 (-84% over December sales)
XBOX: 164,000 (-84%)
GCN: 81,000 (-87%)
GBA: 266,000 (-88%)

I wouldn't suggest you edit you post though, unless you changed the title, cuz I don't think gc fans would consider that very uplifting.

Wait a minute something is fishy now that I compare the two. The first artical you posted said PS2 push 2.5 million units in one month! Are you sure those numbers arn't consoles shipped? Not sold?

Who gives a flying flip if GC is beating XBox? I'll be happy when I see GameCube and XBox bury Playstation 2, until then ::yawn::

America:

PS2: 448,000
GBA: 266,000
XBOX: 164,000
GCN: 81,000

Japan:

GBA: 602,800
PS2: 542,600
GCN: 153,600
XBOX: 35,000

Wait a minute...the GBA SP didn't launch until February in Japan, therefore the numbers from Japan must be more recent than the American (US one is for January only, the Japanese one must be for Jan. and Feb.).

No use in comparing the two if they're not for the same timeframe. You'll just have to look at each individually. And it seems that GCN is fourth in sales for America, and Xbox is fourth in Japan. Apparently a lot of Americans don't trust Nintendo, and a lot of Japanese don't care for Microsoft
