Title: Harvest Moon: Online!

Joystiq is reporting that Marvelous has announced a next-gen version of Harvest Moon online. The system hasn't been announced. Considering there has only been ONE Harvest Moon game not originally on a Nintendo system, would it be a stretch to assume this would be for Revolution? Especially since they've jumped onto the DS bandwagon and the games sell far better on Nintendo's stuff than the Sony stuff.

Sounds cool. Stealing chickens! And it's an ideal game for online.

Sounds to me like the Rev now has TWO online games!

Ugh, but the Harvest Moon games seem to get worse with each iteration....

I bet it's online stat tracking!  That would be rad!

"Hardcore_Bumpkin133 has grown 338 turnips this season.  He remains the all-time turnip champion."
Everyone else - "OH SNAP"

Only way I can see it working online is allowing a breeding/horticultural program and having players trade premium stock. Someone could come up with tomatoes the size of sheep or something. That, and maybe having world-wide festivals or some such.

The way it would work online is you live in a world with hundreds of farms. I'm sure festivals and trading will be all part of it. Perhaps you can own a store or something too.

It could have an Animal Crossing flair to it, with trading of livestock, goods, and other rare items...

Harvest Moon would be perfect for MMO, it already has the grind now all it needs is the griefers.

Call me cynical, but I bet this goes to the 360 courtesy of a money hat.

That would be the worst idea EVER, especially considering the game sells best in Japan.

"Considering there has only been ONE Harvest Moon game not originally on a Nintendo system"

I would not consider 'Back to Nature' and 'Save the Homeland' one game.

No, added up they're half a game at most .

Sometimes KDR is like an Ian that hates everything else as well as Nintendo.

I'd wager on Nintendo.  I don't think this game would be a good buy for Microsoft, it has a pretty niche audience with no appeal in North America, and some, but not enough, in Japan.  Most likely a PS3 remix will follow.

I'm pretty excited, my biggest wish would be for better localization!

Back to Nature is a version of HM64. It reuses locations, characters, etc. It's a modified port.

In my humble opinion, FoMT is more of a version of BTN, than BTN is a version of HM64.  BTN is more than a modified port... well more than I'd consider 'originally HM64".
