Title: Virtual Reality Step 1.0
Post by: The Omen on September 16, 2005, 07:50:12 AM
Is it only me, or does anyone else feel while watching the video of the new controller, that this is very much heading towards a virtual reality Nintendo console? Maybe not with the Rev., but after the Rev generation? Think about this, we, by that time would have been used to the new control set up. It wouldn't be a huge gamble then, as that's basically the first step-getting players acclimated with the controls of virtual reality. So, when they release virtual man in the year 2012, the learning curve won't be high at all, since they trained us the prior generation with the Revolution.
I think you suckas better jump on board now, so you can be prepared for FPS, virtually, and literally.

The controller is essentially the first step towards the total immersion gameplay wise, ever. We have graphical immersion, sound immersion, etc. But this is truly the next generation of control. The obvious goal of games is eventually to be totally immersive, basically VR. This is the first step towards that, definitely.
It's humorous Microsoft and Sony talk about things like total entertainment and video games becoming the most popular of popular entertainments, yet their systems do nothing towards making it the immersive experience needed for total entertainment. Nintendo does. How? By realizing the trick to total immersion isn't visual or aural, but control.
The more I think of it the more impressive it is!

Yeah it is indeed one big step for virtual interactivity, however we are very far from acheiving true virtual interactivity. I guess patience is the name of the game.

Really? I guess I still have some hope for the end of the universe as we know it to happen really soon.

I believe all ancient calenders ended in 2012, mysteriously. Or not so mysteriously, depending on what you believe.
Just to add a point to the Virtual Reality topic-The video of the controller in action shows the people from the viewpoint of the tv. To me, this almost intimates that they, the people, are the game, or inside the game. Perhaps one of the many shoes to drop is some sort of VR equipped games? I don't think the Rev. is a full on virtual reality center, but I do believe they are dabbling in enabling certain games to be total VR experiences. To me, the controller points directly to that notion.

That'd be way more interesting than the truth: the muslim calendar ends in the 2070's, and the jewish calendar ends in 2240.
Most likely they just got sick of writing

well that's fantastic news..you had to go and bring that up didn't you? Would it help matters if I announced my personal calendar ends in 2012? Besides, there's plenty of other instances where 2012 is mentioned as something significant, not just in the Mayan calendar.
