Title: Do you think Majora's Mask deserves a special edition?
Post by: Nik Jam on February 19, 2003, 05:29:45 PM: OOT got a port, with it's already made Special Edition "Ura Zelda/Master Quest". But do you think MM deserves one for when Zelda X rolls around?

People might complain it doesnt deserve one, or it'll just be one game. Though I think minor effort could be put in to add one more dungeon and a few more sidequests, and like MM, remake the original dungeons and have MM: MQ

I think it deserves one, it is probaly my favirote N64 game. But Im probaly one of the few. Not to mention besides Zelda 1 and 2, this is probaly the only most recent Zelda game, the majority probaly HAVEN'T played. So most people would REALLY like this. I Just want to hear everyone's opinions.

Post by: Chris150 on February 19, 2003, 05:36:23 PM: Add a few more dungeons and i'll be interested. The only problem i had with MM was the lack of dungeons and lack of equipment screen. I'd like to use my Hero's Shield when I don't need my Mirror Shield...

Frankly, I very much doubt it - I mean, why do you think they are giving away Master Quest for free? I don't think anybody bought it - it's just a very small expansion pack.

Post by: Ian Sane on February 20, 2003, 06:08:24 AM: I definitely think that Nintendo should do the same pre-order bonus promotion for the next Zelda game with free copies of Majora's Mask. I wouldn't expect a Master Quest or anything though. Ocarina's Master Quest was essentially already finished so porting it to Gamecube probably wasn't too much work. However there was no URA Zelda made for Majora's Mask. Any changes would have to be done from scratch. Assuming Nintendo would give this game away for free it's unlikely they would dedicate much effort to making a new quest for something that isn't going to make them any money anyway.

I'd say instead of featuring a Master Quest on a Majora's Mask bonus disc simply put a port of Majora's Mask and a demo of the new Zelda game on it. I think most people would much prefer a demo for the new game over some remixed Majora's Mask dungeons.

Post by: theaveng on February 20, 2003, 10:58:18 AM: I think Nintendo should convert ALL the N64 games. At ~32 megabytes a piece, you could squeeze 46 games onto a single disc. Perhaps call it "The Nintendo 64 Classics Collection" or something similar.

Or (just to keep on the topic of zelda) they could put all the Zelda games (N64 and earlier) on one disc. That would make me happy in ways only emoticons can express... For instance, I feel better now.

And yes I'd like MM ported to the GCN since I never played it and don't plan on buying an N64 just to play Majora's Mask. Extra dungeons would be nice.

Post by: Nik Jam on February 22, 2003, 12:26:04 PM: Well, its just that people HAVENT played MM, and I think its one of the most underappreciated games of the N64. And it seems, judging from SSBM, and several Nintendo interviews, MM does have alot of respect from Miyamoto and Nintendo, I beleive the OOT/Master Quest thing was to make up for the fact that they cant do a Gold cartridge deal (which they SHOULD have done with the Game Boy Color/Advance games)

It can be a standalone port in the bonus disk. Graphics can be updated a little. And like they did with Link's Awakening, the Oracle games, and Link to the Past Advance, they should have a special "Extra" dungeon for beating the game.
