Title: Harrison on PS3
Post by: Shecky on June 24, 2005, 02:49:44 PM
Hey guys! The PS3 wasn't on final hardware (SHOCK!) so those FMV^H^H^H game clips were nothing.... it's going to be even more powerful!
"It only gets better from here on in," Harrison told GamesIndustry.biz at the time, referring to the performance of the system. "As you get closer and closer to production hardware, you're using more and more like the final silicon, which will be more and more like the final clock speed."

From what I heard the X360 final hardware turned out to be much slower than the alpha kits and MS propaganda led devs to believe.

KDR, where did you hear that? Do you mean that it isn't 5x more powerful than what we saw or it isn't 20-30x more than xbox? please elaborate..

Just a rumor spread by an Anonymous Coward at Slashdot. Might be a dev violating his NDA or an idiot talking crap but realistically, it wasn't used in a tone an idiot would use (i.e. he mentioned it casually while complaining about something else, a faker would usually use it to "prove a point"). Besides, anyone who compared the specs could telly ou there was no way in hell the X360 would be three times as fast as two G5s. Not with its PPE cores. The G5's clockrate might add up to a third of that of the final hardware but a G5 is much more powerful per MHz.
