Title: revolution ds connectivity theory (way out there or plausible?)
Post by: norebonomis on May 17, 2005, 07:56:49 PM
does anyone remember somewhere prior on the DS disscussion thread. where i speculated that the ds could be used for stereo-scopic viewing if paired with a 3D headset? someone involved in DS developing replied that it would have to split the feed into the two alternating perspectives every other frame. so the fps rate would be cut in half. but he seemed to agree with me when he told me that the development kits came with a device that would output the video from the ds's power port. allowing you to capture video. if you saw the press confrenece you will see that tina woods of G$ (whoops i hit shift) had one attached to her DS while showing off nintendogs.
well this is where my brain started turning on the virtualboy5.0 theory again. seeing the cord out of the back of the ds triggered my thoughts previously stated (somewhere please don't make me look i'm sort of nauseus from over-interneting myself) what if the revolution was capable of pushing video wirelessly to the DS. and your VR goggles would conntect, wired, to your ds.
for those of you ready to flame me. please be nice. i could just be in denial about nintendo turning yellow. :-D

Would there be any benefit to doing that instead of having the Rev just push the video wirelessly to the goggle peripheral?

have you ever seen existing 3D head mounted displays? they are kinda clunky, having the ds mounted on say your hip, it would lighten the load on the goggles. just imagine, the virtual boy you had to sit down and bend over to look into it. old-school VR arcade helmets were humungous. didn't somone pick up the DS screen on their tv? strangeness. not that's i'm implying these things are connected. but on teh interweb i'm right till proven wrong,
