I'd say Smash Bros. DS online, except that Shonen Jump Superstars game is stil in production and is announced (at least in Japan).  Maybe EA, Rare and Nintendo are teaming up for a Goldeney N64 port to confuse everyone, or Perfect Dark (N64) is appearing on the DS.

Smash would certainly be interesting... and PD is a good bet.

I also wonder if maybe its some more Square goodness... Even though FF CC and FFIII are in development

I still think its a western franchise... since heck  Nintendo just needs Nintendogs 2 in Japan and it pushes hardware up the wazoo!

My dream e3 would be mario kart confirmed online, smash bros announced and confirmed online, and Animal Crossing due out the end of May.. =P

Seriously though...  On the square front, I want to hear two things....

1. Final Fantasy 3 enhanced port EXCLUSIVE for DS
2. A PlayOnline enabled version of FF:CC that is either free for all, or heavily discounted/free for current PlayOnline subscribers.

Man....  that would be great.

I think it will be a new franchise.

It's not SSB, as the guy who left the hints hates Smash Brothers and wouldn't consider it "s***-hot"

I'll say one is an SE project (Chrono), but I don't want to say what I think the other is because I'd be laughed at...

NintenKittens, with Link and Reggie as playable personas.

PowerStone 3!!!!!! God bless you for just putting that in my head.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Rival School 3
P.N. O4

More than likely it's either Smash 3 or Chrono Trigger Dream Syphoniss(one of those two games ARE there).

OF COURSE I DON'T HAVE PROOF.

Or- maybe- a Kid Icarus sequal?

Or... perhaps! StarCraft...

An all new Tales game from Namco?

The Adventures of Lolo!

Metal Gear Solid remake? Another one, I suppose?

Star Tropics! Yes!

"or Perfect Dark (N64) is appearing on the DS."

That would be such a stupid thing for them to do.  Perfect Dark 0 is a rumoured Xbox 360 launch title.  Having PD on the DS would get Nintendo fans excited about a franchise that a direct competitor has exclusive rights to.  They would essentially be advertising the Xbox 360 to the Nintendo fanbase.  If a DS owner liked Perfect Dark enough to buy a whole new console for a sequel they wouldn't be buying the Revolution.
Title: RE:Super Secret DS!
Post by: thepoga on May 11, 2005, 09:08:48 PM
Well, that's assuming Rare finishes Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox 360.

Haha, I still remember the post of Microsoft expecting Rare to make 5 Xbox games in 2 years. So far the only game made was Grabbed by Ghoulies. With the only other games coming up being Conker, and Kameo.

They've made 4 GBA games though (not including DKC 1 & 2 because they're only ports). It's very RARE to see them not with Nintendo in some way. What pun?

Well anyways, (I highly doubt this is the secret game btw), maybe this is a game made by Rare. Probably not, because we'd see it on DS2.

I just LOVE beating this DEAD HORSE!

And can someone explain to me the big deal of Kid Icarus?  That game was as much as a non-event as Ice Climbers was - maybe even moreso.  If you want an old NES game, Wrecking Crew was heaps more fun - you could play it two player co-op AND design your own levels.

I've got it - it's A Boy and His Blob!

Actually, as excited as I am about that, I have a sneaking suspicion that this is Zelda DS - which hasn't been officially announced yet.

My *hope* is that it's a portable Resident Evil Outbreak - but I'm sure that's just a pipe dream.

So whats so stupid about that?  Wouldn't that be the point of releasing the game on a Nintendo handheld?  Would't they want the attention of the original fans of the game and get them interested in the Xbox 360 instead of waiting for the Rev?  If anything, I think that would be a smart thing for them to do, which makes it all the more unlikely to happen.

I meant stupid for Nintendo to allow it.  Obviously it would be a brilliant move for Microsoft.

That's a Penny-Arcade quote referring to Tribes 3/Vengeance.

Am I the only one thinking "please don't let it be a franchise game!"?
Title: RE: Super Secret DS!
Post by: TheYoungerPlumber on May 14, 2005, 12:29:47 AM
Sometimes franchise games play with the franchise so much, it makes the spin-off stronger than if it had been a new franchise.  I think the Mario Kart and Mario RPG series are good examples.  Wario Ware pretty much reinvented Wario's mini-world, too.  Mario Pinball...mmm..less so ;-)

Actually, there are a number of old-time NES games I'd like to be revived. StarTropics, Mach Rider, Kid Icarus... heck, even a Wild Gunman FPS would do.

There's a GI scan floating around that has the title "Metroid Dread" (2d adventure) on it...Considering the title of the blog, this may likely be it...
Title: RE: Super Secret DS!
Post by: PaLaDiN on May 14, 2005, 06:26:34 PM
Mario suggested that, Obi striked it down.

Besides, that scan is fake. There's titles on there that are already released.
Title: RE: Super Secret DS!
Post by: Noble~Feather on May 14, 2005, 08:46:11 PM
Some are suggesting that one of the titles he's talking about could be StarFox.

EDIT - As for the other title, I think that may be Metroid Dread, because of the "dreadfully excellent" title the 1UP guy posted. While I am excited for another 2D Metroid, I don't think it's nearly as "killer app" the guy made it out to be. But we'll see.

Wow. That makes no sense though... how does the Donkey Konga 2 thing work out then? I wasn't letting myself believe it...

But wow. Metroid Dread... Mario & Luigi 2... best news I've heard all week, I'm definitely buying a DS now.

And I was partial to the Twilight Princess name since I first heard of it. Obviously that's Zelda at Link's back in the art.

They had it posted on another forum yesterday, but it has been removed.

It mentioned a few games that had not been announced (i think)

Metroid Dread
Super Mario Strikers (soccer game)
Touch Golf

also mentioned:
Advance Wars being re-named to Battalion Wars
&
It where they got the sub-title for TLoZ: Twilight Princess

there were other games mentioned but I can't remember

"I'm intrigued by the 'full-fledged rpg' statement on pokemon XD"

They said that about Colloseum as well.  Technically they were right.  It is an RPG.  It's just a really crummy one.

"Twilight Princess" is a pretty weird name.  It's still better than "Wind Waker" so I can live with it.  At least they're using real words this time.

Aside from Touch Golf I see no non-sequels and I'm getting pretty tired of the same thing.  I love Metroid and Metroid Dread will probably rule but there's just been so many Metroid games released lately I'm getting burned out.  Until 2001 there were only three Metroid games.  Here we are only four years later and the series has over doubled in size.  It's just too much too soon.  It's getting to the point where I'm losing interest in all of Nintendo's franchises.  It's not because my tastes are changing or that the games are getting crappy, I'm just getting bored.  It's getting too routine.  Even when they take an existing franchise and do something different with it I'm bored of having the same characters and faces looking back at me.  The only difference between this and what Sega's doing is that Sega's rehashes are crappy and Nintendo's are still really good.

Though it is nice to see Nintendo with the Tetris franchise again.  Tetris re-releases are inevitable so we might as well get someone who knows what they're doing working on them again.
Title: RE: Super Secret DS!
Post by: PaLaDiN on May 15, 2005, 06:13:47 PM
As far as I'm concerned, Mario & Luigi 2 and Metroid Dread fill much-needed gaps in the DS's library and warrant sequels.

And I don't care what you say, I can't get enough of Metroid. There have been at most 2 Metroid games per platform so far... I don't see how you can label it as over-prolific unless you're comparing it to its period of dearth, when, need I remind you, everybody was bitching at Nintendo to make more of them.

"They said that about Colloseum as well. Technically they were right. It is an RPG. It's just a really crummy one."

Um, wrong...They never called the Adventure Mode in Colosseum (COLOSSEUM, everyone spells it wrong ) a "full-fledged RPG"...Reggie has even gone on to directly say it will be more like the GameBoy adventures...

There hasn't been a Nintendo-themed Tetris since the NES days, so this will be interesting.

Sorry Ian, but I have to dissagree. All of the Metroid titles, both 2D and 3D, have blown me away. It's my favorite fanchise next to Zelda; I can never have enough Metroid.  DS getting both demensions of this franchise makes me estatic.  I do agree with you on Metroid Pinball though... Pinball is getting hella old IMO.

Only good pinball games are old, crap pinball is what's new, and I hope Metroid Pinball breaks that trend.

No.  If they did that they'd have to resort to just the GBA+ 2D of the DS for that to work and I'd rather they keep it one screen so they could use 3D hardware accelerated effects at 60fps.  And also think about it for a moment, do you really want to platform hop from screen to screen?  No matter which way they choose to do it, it's gonna look strange with that gap between the screens.

I'd actually like the map on the bottom screen... I always thought it was a little inconvenient to switch to the map during gameplay in the 2D Metroid's.

"I always thought it was a little inconvenient to switch to the map during gameplay in the 2D Metroid's."

Am I the only person in the world who thinks it's totally logical to want to stop a game to get a good look at a map?  The last thing I want when I'm trying to figure out where to go next is for some enemy to kick my ass while I'm not looking.  How the hell do you look at a map and play a game at the same time?

Same, besides, I assume you would be able to pause the game and look at the map endlessly without distraction if need be as well. Often times, you just need a quick look though to get your bearings.
