sure its not as great as F-Zero graphics but SMS graphics werent impressive either and still the game was popular
If it plays great, ill buy it, graphics arent everything.

edit: i cant believe it.....i just looked at those screens and they look worse then nascar 2003. hopefully the final product will look better. i think it will.

I mean, look at Jeremy Mcgrath Supercross World or Universal Studios Park Adventure for example. There's some real crud on GC, but that game certainly isn't one of the worst.

Sir Daniel: If you want to see Nintendo showing off the Gamecube's power, look no further than Wind Waker- that is easily the most graphically impressive game on any console yet, in my opinion. What they've done with the cel-shading is simply incredible.

Many of you will agree, I think, when I say that it's getting dadgum TIRESOME reading people's comments that such-and-such looks like an N64 game.
Let's think back to Mario Sunshine, a game that admittedly looked a bit sub-par in some of the early screens (in motion, I think the game is truly stunning in its own way, chunky textures or no). I heard people saying it looked WORSE than an N64 game.
I think we can all agree that the only thing a statement like that proved was that people had completely nostalgiacized* Mario 64, and the N64's graphics, to a degree that proved to be beyond laughable and entered a sort of surreal, Salvador Dali world where tigers jump out of women's breasts that are held aloft by stilts--a world as confusing as it is interesting. Well, that analogy works except for the "interesting" part. This isn't interesting--it's infuriating.
Let's try to keep our arguments grounded in some kind of reality that's practical enough for a good, sane forum such as this.
*I made this word up, just now. I think it'll come in handy.
Disclaimer: I do in fact realize that certain games on the GCN contain graphics that approach and even inhabit the world of the Nintendo 64--however, Super Mario Sunshine and 1080-2 belong nowhere near such a world. Thank you.

as for 1080.......it looks god awful! it actually looks like a last generation game. the draw distance and the coat reacting to the wind are the only two things that even come close to helping the graphics. aside from those (and those arent even things to be proud of in this day and age) the graphics are just no good. and dont give me that "oh well, graphics dont matter, its gameplay" .......because why cant you have good graphics AND good gameplay?

Then again, maybe they actually know what they're doing. I mean, I've seen so many games that had only a few months left in their dev. cycle go from having average frame rates and mediocre draw distances to being stellar in both departments. Believe it or not, some games don't start out finished. Don't ask me why.
Imagine it. Nintendo might know what they are doing. I've gotta go think about this.
PS--So help me, if this game comes out with "average" graphics and extremely fun gameplay and everyone's still screaming about "Why can't we have good graphics and good gameplay," I will personally hunt each of those people down and direct them to the HUNDREDS OF RECENT GAMES with CRAP GAMEPLAY and MIRACULOUS GRAPHICS. GOT IT?

Yeah, but there's a point where it just seems like they're really doing poorly in some areas. Gameplay is very important, but graphics do make an impact, you can't afford to short-sheet them too much.
Besides, the gameplay in the Wind Waker bonus disk video didn't seem that smooth to me, anyway. It looked pretty slow and awkward. :/ It's not that I don't want a good 1080, I liked the original, but you have to admit, at least from what Nintendo has shown us, it doesn't look like it's shaping up.
I did play a little of it at a Cube Club, but only briefly, and that was an early build, so I'm not going to judge it by that, either. But even now it still looks like the gameplay won't be that smooth or swift, and the graphics lower than the standards we're used to. That's a double-hit, really.

yeah FUGLY certainly is a mean description
anyways, the graphics really arent THAT bad, but due to the fact that 1080 64 looked fabulous for an n64 game and really used the hardware and 1080 2 certainly doesnt its a bit dissapointing
i also think its very arrogant of Nintendo to not release a finished product but not improve it either

Also, for those of you who think the game hasn't advanced much from the prequel, check out the pics in the IGN 64 review. There's a lot more texture detail and character models are much better, among other things. Not where i'd like it to be personally, but i'll wait till i play it until i pass final judgement.

I cannot believe that 1080 Avalanche is finished. That game has serious ugly problems. C'mon....nobody is really dying to get their hands on this game....can't they take a few more months and polish it? And by polish, I mean Michael Jackson-caliber plastic surgery.

this new 1080 game looks like it will be the same as the waverace :blue storm in a sense. it looks like it will have a little improved graphics and bring a weather effect to the game but no real changes in gameplay and therefore will be almost exactly the same game as it was on the 64...which is not good....we need to develop

As for 1080, it looks a lot better than it used to, but it still needs work. If this is the final product, I'd be shocked. I wouldn't be surprised if the game is delayed, in the usual Nintendo fashion...
