Quote In Japan, Nintendo just released the machine in four additional colors, packaging them with new virtual pet game, Nintendogs. Now WWJ has found out that Sony's PSP goes one better with a trick that will make technogeeks sit up and beg -- the Japanese version of the PSP apparently (and unintentionally) works electronic wizardry on Aibo the wonder 'bot as well! Japanese entertainment weekly Famitsu put the PSP through its paces in their 15 April issue and sure enough: pressing combinations of buttons on the PSP will make Aibo do different tricks -– no hacking necessary!
Don't know anyone with an Aibo but nice to see that Sony has left yet another loop hole in their system.
But it would be cool if the next generation Aibo was designed to work w/ the PSP - Camera in the dog gives you wireless video and you could also control where the dog goes and perform different tricks as long as the dog is in wireless range. Could be used for all the wrong reasons, but it would be so much fun while it lasted.

Now all we need is a sniffer device that automatically sets all Aibos within range on self destruct.

that's actually kind of cool. Its still cheaper and more efficient to go with nintendogs, but that is cool.

It's only cool until the robots start becoming self aware and desire to kill those human ressource hogs.
I wonder if there are access control restrictions implemented or if anybody can come over and use your Aibo to spy on you?

This sounds like the kind of idea that if Nintendo came up with it, there would be no less than 40 reactionary game site editorials about how Nintendo doesn't "get it." I'm still waiting for someone to tell Sony connectivity is a bad idea.

Nintendo did come up with controling a robot with a console first but it never had anywhere near the capablities the Aibo has considering this was back in the NES days.
Robotics isn't a game. Give me a cat any day.

I'm still waiting for Sony to make an android girl... Then we can be sorry for her because she's a Sony and will live maybe two years before going "Disk Read Error".

Unfortunately there's no universal expression for Sony's modes of failure like MS's BSoD. Also, who says Sony wouldn't stuff a harddrive into a heavily moving device? Okay okay, that's more like "Primary Master is not bootable, replace disk and strike any key" and bad blocks popping up everywhere but the system wouldn't report that as "headcrash".
