Title: The DS and the connection
Post by: Miyamoto Osaki on April 11, 2005, 09:21:58 PM
have anyone tried to hook up their DS to the gamecube, cause you cant. Ive been searching through websites and magazines and none of them talk about the DS able to connect to the GAmecube. does anyone know how to connect the two or if Nintendo will create a socket for the gamecube for wireless connection?

You can not connect Nintendo DS and Nintendo GameCube.

true i think its not that easy, I tried  inserting and playing a GBC game and first you'll notice that the cartridge
wont fit cause if you compare the GBA & GBC cartridges from the bottom you' ll see that they are alittle
difference from each other. well what i did i got a knife heated up on the stove and i cut off some pieces from
the bottom to copy exactly how the GBA has it, then when i finished i insert it into the DS it fit like a charm
perfect fit. excited i turned the DS on then the DS didnt read it i was like WTF? i guess Nintendo did'nt want
us to play GBC games in the DS but then again i dont have alot of GBC games. where did i get the expirement
game i used? let just say my friend little brother is going to missed his woody wood pecker racing game.....

Um, Babyboy, I'm really not sure why in the world you would do that, unless you have a LOT of spare cash. Nintendo stated explicitly that GB and GBC DO NOT WORK on the DS. Why, oh why, would you try to do that?? Do you hate your DS that much???

Oh, and about the DS connectivity, it is rumoured that the Rev will be a wireless hub, so it will be able to connect to the DS, adn the possibilities if that happens are huge.

Oh good lord...

For folks not absolutely clear, the DS will not communicate with a Gamecube....for starters, look at the GBA-GC cable. Its made for the GBA's expansion ports, which the DS lacks!
That clue aside, it would technically be possible to create a peripheral for the Cube to allow it to communicate wirelessly with the DS....but they won't.
Thats a losing cause, so your only hope down that road would be if some enterprising HK outfit cobbled together such a device. But really, just use your SP if Cube connectivity is essential for you.

Finally, DS does not play GBC games. Its not even technically possible outside of emulation. The GBA had an actual GBC processor inside it, makiing backwards compatibility a snap, just as the DS has a GBA processor inside it. Lacking that GBC processor however, the DS will not natively playback GBC games...and now, my heartfelt condolences to your poor, poor GBC cart =(

And that makes you less of a moron how?

If a game doesn't fit it's because it won't work. They didn't just sit down and think "Hey let's make it play Gameboy games but make the hole too small so they don't fit!"

Wow, sounds like you guys are just about ready to start up RSPCG and PETG foundations... I'm more concerned about his friend's little brother.

Still, that was pretty idiotic.

Did the game survive, even if it was hurt in many ways

Well, if you stuff it into a GB or GBC it should still work but those missing edges will make the GBA handle the cartridge improperly.
