This is a great interview. I couldn't expect more from Nintendo.
Quote Pokemon XD is a brand new Pokemon game for GameCube. It's a true RPG Pokemon.
It's hard for me to express myself right now, but this is just awesome. Even the way he said it was awesome.

Every time teh speaks, its magic. Its music. The man knows how to command attention, even in text.
It seems the big N is going to drop some bombshells tommorrow. I salivate in anticapation...

Dammit.
I was hoping Nintendo would hold out on jumping on the online bandwagon. Their pursuing it aggresively is the last thing I wanted to happen.

It's funny how Reggie makes everything better. Every one of his responces is impressive. A normal interviewee would have answered with a simple "yes," but look at how the man answers...
"We noticed that at Nintendo's GDC booth Retro Studios is handing out job applications for a number of new positions. Is the company already working on Revolution? Reggie: It's interesting because Michael Kelbaugh [President, Retro Studios] and I will have a drink later today. They've done great work for us. Metroid Prime was a great game. Metroid Prime 2 in my opinion was an even better game. Who is the most likely suspect to be working on Revolution? Probably a studio like Retro.
That man deserves respect. That whole article got my attention.

Quote IGNcube: Finally, what is Pokemon XD?
Reggie: Pokemon XD is a brand new Pokemon game for GameCube. It's a true RPG Pokemon. It's isn't a sequel to Collosseum. It's a brand new build. A brand new game that really plays off the RPG aspects. So think of it this way. If you loved Ruby and Sapphire, you're going to love Pokemon XD for GameCube.
That's the best thing i've ever heard.
Quote IGNcube: So we can expect to see something on Mario 128 at E3?
Reggie: Yes.
This is already the best E3 ever.

I'm gonna go change my pants. This interview was beyond spectacular. I'm so freakin' excited about E3 and tomorrow.

I wonder if by Wireless , does it lends some credibility to the rumored Revolution specs that were released?
That has the Revolution with a Wireless card that could somehow detect and comunicate with other Revo Consoles?

"We're sitting here in the United States market place with about a 32% share. I've publicly said that we need to drive that to about a 40% share."
F*ck yeah.
"About DS wireless Internet play. Yes, we're going to be making announcements about that tomorrow. And there's going to be a lot of activity that we'll be sharing now through E3 and to the end of this year. We'll be launching wireless enabled games on DS this year."
F*CK YEAH!
"Pokemon XD is a brand new Pokemon game for GameCube. It's a true RPG Pokemon."
Whoa. Nintendo is actually admiting that Collosseum wasn't a "true RPG"? That sort of honesty is nice to hear though I'm still a little skeptical about XD. They said Colloseum was an RPG for example. Though I believe I assumed the new Cube Pokemon was just Collosseum 2 and I believe Bill, as usual, accused me of jumping to conclusions. Well turns out I was wrong and I'm happy I'm wrong. With this (assuming it's what it's cracked up to be), Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Resident Evil 4 the Cube is going to end it's life on a high note which hopefully will create some momentum for the Revolution.
But DAMN does Reggie know how to make Nintendo sound like gods. Iwata's all "gosh the Rev might be a compete failure and stuff" but Reggie's all "the Revolution will kick your ass, Nintendo's the BEST!" When Reggie speaks I'm filled with confidence in Nintendo and I get excited. He should be the ONLY Nintendo person who talks. Whenever someone else gets asked a question their answer should be "ask Reggie."

your right hes great. Im thinking now that Iwata will talk at GDC, does that mean he wont talk at E3? Maybe give Reggie more time to talk? Hes great.

Quote ...In terms of how we're going to show Mario 128, though, it's likely that we'll show it in video form more than playable. We have so many great games in playable form already.
Why??! What's wrong with having several high-caliber, playable games at one show? Just another excuse to delay showing it for another year?
Quote Reggie: It's going to be hard to top what we did last year. It was a fantastic E3 for us.
I think it'll be the best one since 2002's Mario-Zelda-Metroid tri-umph

We are absolutely committed to the sense of community and the worldwide sense of playing games against each other. We're going to be delivering that on every future system to the best of our ability.
that's all I needed to hear.

Another Reggie interview! I agree with everything except where he says GameCube isn't sexy....
Quote The new period that we're about to get into with Sony entering the space, it's gonna be highly competitive. Highly competitive. (Leans forward, deepens voice) And I'm a highly competitive person.

That's the second time today he mentions the GBNext rumors.
There's pretty much only one rumor: it'll be a portable GCN.

From the 1up interview:
"There's a key part of the message, and this is my language, not Mr. Iawata's language, is that Nintendo needs to be an "And" company, and what I mean by that is that it's not either or. Right. It's not core gamer or casual. It's not first-party or third-party. It's an "and" company. We need to do both."
This sounds like what Ian and a few others have been talking about. Every time I hear a NOA rep speak they say what I want to hear.
"I'll tell you this: I read the boards, I hear what consumers are sayin'."
I hope he likes our special emoticon

Best interviews ever.
Nintendo is traditionally so one-dimensional with their towing the company lines, especially guys like George Harrison.
Reggie is the future NOA King.

It's on a press sheet revealing some Gamecube release dates for this year...Pokemon XD was listed as "TBA"...(EBgames also had the game on their website a while ago before it was taken down)

I totally agree, imagine the money they are investing on the online affair being put to some other good use, specially R&D. But no, it seems the gaming world is ruled by the minority that is the online gamers and dictates the things we, the people who find online boring, have to play in the future, urgh...
At least I know that Nintendo will try to make online better.

"There's a key part of the message, and this is my language, not Mr. Iawata's language, is that Nintendo needs to be an 'And' company"
That's cool and I agree completely with it but I don't like the "not Mr. Iwata's language" part. If Iwata doesn't feel that way then does it matter what Reggie thinks? If NCL has a different attitude NOA can't really do much. If the Rev for example is designed like a third party repelent by NCL it doesn't matter what NOA thinks and what they want to do. I see eye to eye with Reggie on a lot and I hope he's not just saying what he thinks but has no control over.

I think he's syaing that is his vision, and not necessarily NCL's. He's pointing out that it wasn't some sort of official mission statement.

Or maybe he's saying that he is taking what Iwata said and translating it into his own words (Iwata's last comments were supposedly mis-translated and sounded kinda pessimistic). I think he's just putting it in a way that we will understand better, a way that comes across clearer than what Iwata may have originally said.

reggies gonna kick your ass! fuck yeah! reggies gonna kick your ass fuck yeah you better watch out cus he's gonna stomp you down fuck yeah!
1UP: Do you think there's a ceiling on how far you can take the current Nintendo franchises? For example, a new Kirby might not be just what Joe Stock Exchange is looking forward to coming home and playing after a hard day's work, or even for teens weaned on GTA. Not that Nintendo needs to come up with violent new properties. It's obviously important that they still exist, but it's entirely possible that there's only so much mileage that you can get out of bright yellow, bright pink characters in your mission to beat the competition.
RFA: I'll tell ya this, when we launch Revolution, we will have greata franchise game: Mario, Zelda, Metroid. We will also launch new franchises. Because what you're saying is true. I think any consumer is looking for something new, and for great as Mario is, when it's the hundredth Mario game, it could be perceived as old. Even if it's highly innovative, and so yes, we're hard at work on new franchises and things that will excite the current gamer.

It's funny. Iwata says something and people are usually negative about it, to the effect of saying they "cringe" or whatever histrionic response. Reginald here says something and everybody agrees and worships him. The punchline here is there is not one thing Satoru Iwata has said that Reignald Fils-Aime hasn't repeated. The problem with was Iwata "says" is that we always hear it third-hand, translated, re-translated, and always ripped out of context. Notice he said language and not words or ideas. The two are quite different.
