Title: Some guy claims to have info about Revolution
Post by: Eminem on January 31, 2005, 06:26:13 PM
I'm a regular poster at the IGN Boards now (this place was really dead). Someone from the boards posted this.

Apparently, this guy has insider info but he can't say anything about it.

Wow, inside info from secret sources seems to be on the rise.  Nintendo had better plug those leaks quick!

At least I'm not telling EVERYTHING like everyone else seems to be [and some are outright lying, mind you]

Kinda like how Nintendo makes an announcement to announce there'll be an announcement at a later announcement -- if there's nothing concrete, it's a waste of time.

look, NINTENDO TO THE "R" POWAAAAAAAA

"R" stands for REGGIE

NINTENDO REGGIELUTION WILL KICK YOUR NAME AND TAKE YOUR ASS!

!HULK SMASH!

What *I* find interesting is that one guy say it's called the Nintendo 21 with a 21 logo and says it will be out by the end 2005, whereas THIS guy says it's called the Nintendo Revolution with a Revolution logo and says it's coming out Fall 2006.

*sniff* Ya know what that is? I smell a lier. Who it is, I don't know.

Just say they're both liers.  You know, guilty until proven innocent, that sorta thing.

I seriously doubt it.

I'll take "Both Liars" for $600, Alex.

When I finally saw the doodle that comprised the last 21 "leak", I was shocked that anyone believed it.  They stuck a bunch of 21s on a box!  Seriously, if you have some artistic/design sense and you look at the logos for the GameCube and the N64, you can see they're made by a professional.  There is beauty, elegance, and talent in their design.  The 21 thing was clearly someone slapping a random number on a box to try to fool people.

But at least you could consider the possibility that they were doodles from a meeting at Nintendo or something!  In this case we've supposedly got a promo leak, which tries to fool us by copying Nintendo's recent design choices.  But the fonts are a dead giveaway.  If you have an eye for this stuff, it's obvious.  The "c" and "o" in "coming" are different widths and thicknesses, no professional would design a font like that.  Also, "New Angle" is in a different font from the rest (see how the "a" in "angle" has a line across the bottom but the rest do not?)  In fact, it looks like it's mixing the GameCube and DS fonts.  Besides the fact that mixing fonts like that is a design no-no, why would Nintendo spend hundreds of dollars to have designers come up with a new font for every new system, and then suddenly cheap out and throw a bunch of the previous fonts together for the Revolution?

Edit: In summary, if my art or marketing department produced something like this, I'd fire them all.  Don't believe this guy.

This one is so obviously fake it it isn't funny.  Since when have you ever seen a logo announcment/promo that was that weird shape?  And with the history of nintendo logos, I don't think N^R is even close.  People really need to stop even believing this stuff enough to make threads all over the place...

I'd give them another chance.
We should all take a lesson from Family Guy and whenever something like this comes up we all point and say, "Hey, you're a big fat phony!!!!!" And we would all be happy.

The really funny thing is that he claims the ad is 8 seconds long (says the video is short 1 second). Show me one TV station that sells 8 second ads. Oh wait, there are none!

They don't sell 8 second adds but sometimes the commercials get cut short.
Trust me I know.
