Nope, not a problem on my end, nor anyone else I know...Just tell Ninty about your problem and they'll likely replace it for you...

I heard it from somebody else and because of that I bought screen protectors so I don't have that problem.

You know what? Both my DS's have scratches. What the hell.
One is small and only visible under certain situations, but the other I can actually feel with me styus. I doubt I'll be able to do anything about it, but Ninty is well-known for being nice and stuff, so let's see how it goes. I only the stylus and thumbstrap too, with the occasional Q-tip.
Yeah, so here's Nintendo's warrenty. Look for loopholes. Our problem seems to fall under the negilgence category even though we used only liscensed Nintendo products (and in my case, what Miyamoto himself suggested =p). I emailed Nintendo, but I have very little hope.

try using a soft cloth to wipe your screen off, what happened with mine is that I got finger prints on the screen, when I used the stylus, it made lines in the oil form those fingerprints and looked like scratches.

My touch screen does but it's ok because I can't see it while playing.

If you think your DS screen is scratched, it's not as scratched as this:
EDIT: Oh geez. Whoops.
I hate kids. That's a demo unit in a game store.

Haha, the DS demo unit at the Walmart by my house looks exactly like that. It's a shame...

HOLY CRAP something should be done about morons who do stupid crap like that. Looks like they thought the top screen was also a touch screen but it just wasn't working so they tried pushing harder until they got so pissed off and tried to destroy the whole screens. People deserve jail for that.

Haha, all the DS units round here look like that. Except gamestop, who's store is the size of a shoe. At least they can keep an eye on things.

Nintendo should include screen protectors with the system itself, looking at that picture.

That picture was obviously keyed by Nintendo haters of course.
I say get screen protectors though. My first DS got scratched, but in an odd stroke of luck I also had a dead pixel so it needed to be replaced anyways. I think the trouble is with dust getting on the screen or stylus because I could actually feel the difference when it started scratching, but then it was too late. In a way it didn't matter though because I could only see them when tilting the system in the light or looking at it when it was turned off. They became almost invisible with the backlight on. To keep from scratching the screen, you have to pretty much always make sure it's clear from dust or get a screen protector. As someone else said, oil from your fingers can look deceptively like scratches too.

Mine's pretty unscratched (two barely visible scratches, I think), not even my 256 pt score in "shake trees" in Wario Ware left any traces. I used the DS pen, a PDA pen and a Wacom one, in ascending order of hardness. Of course my DS hasn't seen much use, I only played through Wario Ware and not much after that. My PDA's screen is in a worse condition.

It's a 1-800 number, so it should be free. Give 'em a call, see how it turns out, and post the results here

DS isn't out here in Europe for a month, but I was worried about this. Bought these to protect it: Screen Protectors

Yes. I was playing mario DS when i noticed the thumbstrap was rubbing up against the screen a little rough. I looked at the bottom part of the thumb strap and saw that the black paint or coating(whatever it is) was peeling. So now theres this long continuous scratch on the touch screen.
