Title: F-Zero AX
Post by: Dasmos on January 01, 2005, 11:53:46 PM
On Saturday after seeing Meet the Fockers at the cinema i was surprised to see s F-Zero AX system at the arcade. Now i always wanted to play one just to completely finish F-Zero GX, so i had one go because i had to run to catch my bus...so i didn't get one of those cards things..
Now i am thinking of getting one and then after bring in my memory card...
But i was wondering what features do you actually gain from it and is it worth paying however much to unlock it all??

Considering there were supposedly less than 100 arcade units made, I'd play it while I can.

F-Zero is a hardcore game plus Arcade gaming has totally evaporated from North america I believe. The only places left with real arcades are Japan I believe.

We stopped using pennies four hundred billion years ago, it's all about rocks now! "I GOTS SEVEN SHINY ROCKS" "YOU CAN BUY TASMANIA WITH THAT" "LOL NO THANKS"
Yeah, play it while you can. The two AX machines in Sydney flew away like a month after they got them in. No love for F-Zero. ;__;

It's in Adelaide at Marion shopping centre! I'm taking my memory card sometime this week.

There should be some kind of F-Zero AX locator online...

I saw two F-Zero AX machines this summer while I was in Vegas. I didn't get to use my memory card though since, you know, I don't usually bring memory cards on vacation on the off chance that I may find an F-Zero AX machine. The one I played was Japanese anyway so I doubt the card would have worked.
I only played it once but I thought it sucked. The controls were terrible. I picked the Blue Falcon which is a pretty easy car to handle and I'm used to it with GX but I just couldn't control where I was going at all and I ended up running out of time because I fell off the track. There's no sensitivity. No matter how little I turned the wheel the car steered like I had done a sharp turn every time. It was like the controls were designed for a d-pad. I've heard of problems with playing GX with a wheel as well so perhaps Sega just screwed up royally with the wheel controls. Consider yourself lucky if you've never wasted money on this unplayable piece of crap.

GX steers fine with the Logitech Speedforce Wheel. You can adjust the center zone and the range/sensitivity in GX's Options. Finding a comfy button setup is the challenging part.

That is interesting, there is a Fzero arcade machine within 40 minutes of where I live in Washington lol. I guess I should try it out even though I've had no interest in playing the machine before .
