Title: Great time for people that still don't have a GameCube
Post by: NeoShaggy on February 13, 2003, 01:46:47 PM
I just realized, that if you don't have a Cube you can get this:
GameCube System - $150 (Metroid Prime or Resident Evil Zero or .... ) - Free with GameCube purchase. The Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker - $50 The Legend of Zelda - OoT and MQ. - Free with preorder of Wind Waker.
for only 200 bucks.
Now, it's the best time for me to finally get a Cube. Thanks Nintendo.

But I think you don't get a free game with the SMS pack, do you?

I don't beleive there's anything that says you can't. I could be mistaken, though.

I think they dropped the price of the pack because of the free game promotion, and the 10 extra bucks are for the memory card. Anyway, it's still a great deal.

The thing I don’t get is that the Player’s Choice games are $29.99, while Xbox’s Platinum Hits and PS2’s Greatest Hits are 19.99. Why isn’t Nintendo lowering their Player’s Choice to that price too? Well, at least Nintendo lowered them.

also along the lines of cheaper games, at EB Vexx is only #9.99, only 10 bucks off but looks good enough that it matters.

Well, I just got mine.
Black GameCube
Free Metroid Prime
Super Smash Bros + $10 off (Nintendo card promotion) for $19.95 all together
Nyko Airflo controller
251 card
Total cost = $220
The clerk said, "I've sold a ton of these since we started this promotion"
Also, the PS2 gets a free game now too.

I achieved my Gamecube in the best possible way. I won a bet with a stupid friend, he lost over $500.00 that night. I got my gamecube on the first day it was released for free. (The only cost was a very bad case of heart burn the next day. Never eat 20 Bufflo Wings with three times the atomic sauce. The only thing that saved my stomache lining was I drank a lot of milk before and after, for free.)
But the deals will only get better. Along the road the Gamecube will drop in price once again. They may not get rid of the free game promotion, if it does well enough they may extend it. And we will hear people who bought their now how they got ripped off. But I guess that is the way of the internet...

I went over to the EB and Gamestop websites but they didn't have the free game with the Mario Sunshine Bundle. Where are some places that I could get the Bundle and a free game? Target? Best Buys?

I bought my GC a week before they were giving out a free game! After I had it for a week, I was searching for more game reviews, prices, and etc. I somehow stumbled on this site(the old forum), found out about the deal, and felt like I got ripped off! I went raging back to store and told them I'm returning mine and buying it back with a free new game. At first, the store clerk was like he can't do it, then I told him to get a manager and there! I got my GC back with a free Metroid Prime. Even without the promotion, I would have paid for the full console price of $150(which I did) and also buy Metroid Prime for the full price of $50(it was just a matter of time, I really loved playing the demo). I'm glad I found this site and saved $50, anyway that was my little story.

Circuit City now has GameCubes for $140 + Free Game. I'd rather buy that, then buy a Mario bundle for $160.
I'm confused about memory cards. Is the 51 the largest or the smallest?

All of these price cuts and free games are great. I just have to wonder why Nintendo didn't inact them before christmas. I believe it would have had a huge impact on sales. Oh well, better late than never...

Because it's Christmas. People don't need incentives to spend money during Christmas time. They'll happily pay full price.
Now it's the dead time of the year. NOW is when people need incentives/bargains to encourage them to spend. So Nintendo's timing was perfect.

Yeah, great deal, but Nintendo really should have moved to match the Xbox bundle over the holidays. The fact that they didn't hurt them to the tune of oh say... half a million GCs or so.
It's a good idea for them to do this now instead of around christmas where it would impact them less on paper, but still...

BestBuys's been giving away NBA Street with the GC. And they're still giving it away even with the free game promo (Metroid, mario party, etc) which means you can get TWO free games, just like the Xbox, only here, you have a choice. Speaking of which, I think BestBuy is also giving out a third game for free with the xbox bundle.
What a bunch of sweet deals..

The BEST time to buy a Gamecube was a few weeks ago:
Meijers (a regional store) was selling the Gamecube for $99, and there was an additional 10% discount, so that night...
nYko 64MB card Black Gamecube
~$110 after tax. Can't beat that!
AND, thanks to K-Mart going out of business:
Digital video cable: $2 Controller extension cord: $5
Yeah, no games bought yet, but there is always Blockbuster (and their Previously Played section if I REALLY like a game)
