Title: Holidays
Post by: kirby_killer_dedede on December 12, 2004, 03:40:48 PM
Just curious...what are y'all (including and exluding games) getting for whatever holiday you might celebrate around now?

Hannukah's started, Christmas is coming, I know next to nothing about Kwanzaa (lol), Diwali was a couple weeks ago...so...

My DS was kind of an early Christmas present (my parents paid for 50 bucks of it)...and I've found The Simpsons: Hit and Run, Baten Kaitos, and Soul Calibur II in my closet...^_^...oh, and if I can convince my parents, maybe some Nike Shox.  Damn those shoes are cool.

I'm looking to get several CDs (which I can name individually, if for some reason you're that interested), Paper Mario 2, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, a poster of a painting by Rene Magritte, and some other tidbits here and there.

As for what I'm giving. . . so far, check this out: Getting some of these for all the girls I know.
Got Little Nemo for my friend.
And that's it so far.  I can't find nuffin else, really.

How am I supposed to know what I'm getting for Christmas?  It wouldn't be a surprise then would it?

Since my birthday's in December I make one list for my birthday and Christmas.  Metroid Prime 2 was the only game I really put on the list and I already got it for my birthday.  So I'm likely to get some CDs I've asked for and it's pretty much a given I'll get the Return of the King Extended DVD (since everyone in my family wants me to get it).  MP2 and LotR are really the only must have items on my list this year so it looks like I might finally have a year where I don't go and buy all the stuff I really wanted but didn't get.

Oh and for the last few years I've received something I have no interest in whatsoever and it's always the most expensive gift I get so I'm sure there will be some expresso machine or screw driver set or whatever under the tree.

lol who hides someone's present in that person's own closet??

For me I gotta have MP2 and Donkey Konga. Yea a new cube too. And the live CD of the Who concert I went to this last summer. I also make a tradition of asking for SNES games as well, but this year I can only think of Super Metroid

Everything else is secondary: guitar picks and tuner and case, Star Wars DVD, and gift certificates which should hold me over till my birthday in March.

I've noticed it gets harder each year to concentrate on shopping for stuff until after finals are over

Mine would have to be a 512 stick of memory for my computer and maybe a DS, but since I'm paying for my own apartment, all I've asked for is money for that.  No one's getting anything from me because I'm flying home, so bah humbug.  Christmas blows (not in the religous sense, but in the commercial sense).

No DS for two reasons:  (1)  We can't find them ANYWHERE, and (2)  If we find a place with DS's in stock, my brothers will get one, which I'll use, therefore opening my list up to new possibilities =o

Unfortunatley, there's not too much else I want....Paper Mario 2, Burnout 2 (blol 20 buxwhynot), and the Pure Evil pack ....That's it for videogames, and I've already been pretty much denied Pure Evil.....I might ask for Metroid Prime 2, but I haven't beaten the first yet, and I might ask for Ikaruga, but I don't know if I'll like it or not.....

Resident Evil 4 comes out around a week before my birthday, so I have that on my list, but if I can't get the Pure Evil pack I doubt I'll get this......of course, I'll be getting a DS for my birthday too along with Mario 64 DS and Rayman DS if no one gets them for christmas.

Oh yeah, headphones and some underwear too.

I almost forgot - the new Green Day CD (American Idiot), too.

I walk this empty street, on the blvd. of broken dreams...

American Idiot 2k4 ROCKED.

I saw them live in New Orleans.
But I don't like them, so it wasn't a big deal for me.  Seein' the Pixies is why I went, and that was awesome.

The Idiot, by Fyodor Dostoevsky and The Great Wall of China and other stories by Franz Kafka. I need to get a hold of The Plauge by Camus as well, but I can't find it anwhere. I haunt the bookstores in my city so much that I'll be able to tell when the books have been bought. It takes the suprise out of Christmas, I suppose, but my folks specifically asked for what I wanted.

I asked for some games as well, but none of the big holiday sellers seem to be available here.

I'm getting an iPod; a bunch of CD's (U2, the killers, others i can't remember); when I asked for Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, my mom said "Didn't I get you that last year?", so I told her nevermind, since she gets easily confused; I also asked for Katamari Damacy, but I doubt my parents will be able to find that.

And then whatever my siblings get me.  I should be getting something cool from my brother, since he makes more money than my dad now.  That must be so disheartening for my dad, I can't imagine.  Oh well...

I bought myself Baten Kaitos eariler this month, and it's still keeping me busy.  That's an awesome game with some great plot twists, and some fulfilling side quests.  You don't hear that too often.

Looks like I'm getting Astro Boy: Omega Factor.  Not that I'm complaining about the gift itself but I wanted it to be a surprise.

Yesterday I went Christmas shopping with my Mom.  I still needed to buy one gift and she wanted my advice on gifts for my brothers.  No problem, right?  We seperate so she can shop for me a bit.  I meet her at the car and she has a Best Buy bag that I can see RIGHT THROUGH thus revealing the familiar bottom of a GBA game.  ARRRGH!  Astro Boy was the only GBA game I asked for so I assume that's what it was.  I suppose she could have bought a game for my brother but according to her she already has bought all of his stuff.  I guess she could have got me some other GBA game but she's never ever bought me a game I didn't ask for (thank God).

At least I know I'll be getting something good but I didn't want to know the details early.  I don't know why my Mom can't wrap her head around the concept that a clear bag reveals what's inside.

Though it's not capitalismas-related, I think my package from Hong-Kong counts: A DS (JPN, no Prime 3 Arena demo... grrrr...), a matching Sawaru Made in Wario (AWESOME game!) and Kururin Squash!.

Ha ha, I know how you feel, Ian! My girlfriend wants all gifts to be out in the open.  She wants to know everything she's getting, and doesn't mind telling me everything she's giving me.  I want surprises!
I will probably get a new game, but I don't know what.  Everything else is pretty much up in the air!

I GET IT.  IT'S FROM, LIKE, THE SONG.

Anyways, KDR, Kururin Squash sounds like a great game.  Kuru Kuru Kururin was a simple little game that was loads of fun, and itss GC counterpart will be the same, except +++ =D

I'm pretty sure I'm getting Ikaruga, evern though I don't think I'm going to like it.  I asked for it though, as a subsitute to Pure Evil (same price, you see), and it's a little late to change my mind =p  Also, I think I'm getting Donkey Konga too =D

My Christmas was a very good one.  Got several Cds, two DVDs, some other whatnots of goodness, some cash, Paper Mario 2, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.  Both of the last two were a surprise, since my mother is very tricky and an excellent actress.
Also, most surprisingly, came from a friend.  A DS.  Yeah, like whoa.  Apparently she has connections and got it for really cheap, practically free.  I now have a DS with the Hunters demo, Super Mario 64 DS, and a case, thumbstrap, and all of that to go with it.  She also did a custom skin, what with artistic depictions of me and my friends and everything all over it, and a few quotes.  I'll post pictures of it later, perhaps.  Anyway, that was really awesome.
So thanks to my awesome family and disturbingly generous friend, my Christmas rocked.

My birthday/Christmas was decent.  I got mostly clothes, which is okay because I need them.  I can't say much about games.  My parents make a point NOT to buy me anything game related, for the normal reasons 50-year olds hate video games.  I bought Metroid Prime 2 and Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls for myself.  They did buy me a Law & Order DVD set, so I'm happy

ey Hostile, send some pics of that DS our way!  Sounds groovy ^__^

I'd like to take this moment to wish everyone a happy new year =o

I just got back from a party, yet I'm STILL depressed.  The new year marks the end of the holiday season and vacation.  And it won't be back for another whole year.  AFTER MIDTERMS AND FRESHMAN ESSAY AND FINALS AND SUMMER AND A NEW FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

I really get very sad this time of year.  After Christmas I get sad, because, well, the anticipation is the best part (even if it ran at an all time low this year), but I can still say "Well, I'm still off of school until new year's."  But now that THAT'S over, what is there to be excited about?  What is there to enjoy?  There's nothing at school that will make me happy.  NOTHING.  ANGST.

What was I going on about?  Oh yes, HAPPY NEW YEAR ^_^

Heh...

My Christmas is on the 7th.

My university starts on the 16th.

So I still have plenty to look forward to.

Anyway, gifts... I already know some of the gifts I've got, through some detective work... I'm getting FF1&2 and some book I'm supposed to like (about some dragon) for sure. I've also got some money, which should be enough to cover a DS (when I want one), RE4, 24 season 3 and some left over.

I bought my sister the chronicles of Narnia and my little brother Sonic Advance 3. I also suggested he buy Astro Boy while he was out there buying my present, and he's very happy with it so far. Might try it later on, when he gets bored.

Finally, I played MGS3 at a friend's house and I was completely hooked, but I never got to finish it (came close though, wish I hadn't wasted my time on the crapfest that is GTASA). He's letting me borrow it, so there's one unofficial Christmas present.

"If it's Eragon...holy crap it's one good book."

Yeah, Eragon, exactly. Sounds right up my alley.

Only thing cooler than dragons is robot dragons. Or ninja dragons, but I've never seen those. Maybe ninjas on dragons? Robots on dragons? Samus on Meta-Ridley? Holy crap that would be one sweet piece of art, if nothing else.
