Title: Useless thing I found about the DS
Post by: anubis6789 on November 29, 2004, 09:55:12 PM
Today I went ahead and connected my SP headphone adapter to my ds just to see if it would work or if they took that functionality away from that port. I was quite surprised to find that it did infact work with a pair of headphones. I then tried to see if both the SP jack and the normal headphone jack could work in tandem, again I was surprised that they both worked simultaiously.

Like I said though, this is probably the most useless "feature" that the DS has, the only game I could see benefiting from this in anyway is pocket music, or band brothers, or whatever it is called. You could use one port for your own headphones and the other jack for a pair of mini-speakers, like the ones that were going to be packed with the game when it was in production for the GBA, so that others could hear your music.

BTW if anyone is wondering both jacks seem to run off of different power sources, meaning that it doesn't seem that having both in use doesn't effect the sound quality, but it my drain the battery a little faster.

Yeah, the port on the back is used for the transfer of electricity.  Wether it be the electric used to charg the battery, or to power a set of headphones.  Theoretically, Nintendo could release accessories and such that use this port...
