Title: Second round of DS shipments
Post by: foolish03 on November 17, 2004, 07:56:47 AM
Im not sure ill be able to get a ds the day it launches. Which means Ill probably have to wait for the second batch of systems to be shipped out from nintendo. My question is, how long will nintendo include the metroid hunt demo. I remember hearing it was a limited time offer.

Nintendo hasn't announced anything about how long Metroid Prime Hunters is going to be available but I imagine it will be included with the second round of shipments. Considering how few DS games there are initially it wouldn't make much sense to cut the demo out so fast. I figure we'll see it included until the full game is released.

Cool, that takes away some of my urge to get it right away. Even though the demo isnt much, its free and includes a decent multiplayer component to it.

I doubt they wouldn't include it for the second set of shipments. The limited time offer is to get people to buy it now.

"Limited Time" means they're going to pack the DS with other games instead of Prime 3 Arena later on. In two years nobody will care about the demo anymore so they're probably going to use another pack-in then. In marketing speech that's "limited".

I'd wadger a guess in saying that the demo will be included through the end of the year, at which point Nintendo will begin including a diffrent demo, or some other sort of extra. Maybe a demo for the new SMB, or even a nother game we have yet to hear about...

Or maybe this is a good sign that at least part of the DS is flashable. Where not only can you get a Demo of a game wirelessly, but it can also replace the Hunters demo (maybe it has to be done via DS carts... but that would defeat the purpose of storing it locally). Or maybe you can replace it with something that's not a demo at all.... like..... See backwards comp. wireless thread for more discussion on this tangent. Thread

Storing locally? What is stored locally? The demo is on a cart like every game, it doesn't get copied to some built-in non-volatile memory.

Anyone know if you'll be able to link up a demo of Hunters with the real deal once it comes out? Meaning, once Nintendo stops including Hunters with the DS, and once the full game comes out, will you be able to link them together to play (possibly limited) multiplayer?

I doubt that's going to offer more than the full version in single-cart mode...
