Interesting interview. I'll see if I can snag a copy before the end of '04 comes out.

Hmm... The things I would do to get a flight to Tokyo....

"Power-Up is published by Brady Games and can be purchased at major book stores"

Right, because gamers go to book stores all the time.

OMG!  A book being sold in a book store!  WTF!

Where else are they supposed to sell a book?

How can you guys afford to buy books AND games? I've got nothing against books, but I can't afford both. If I want to read a book, I'll buy an RPG. They're kind of like books. Do you buy movies, too? I can't afford them either, so that's why I get movie-licensed games... just kidding. No one should be tortured like that.

If you're buying RPGs instead of books, you're wasting your money.  Aside from the fact that you can get three or four good books for one good RPG, the stories in many books are significantly better than anything I've ever seen or heard of in an RPG.

I said IF I want to read a book, I'll buy an RPG. The last RPG I bought was Earthbound, and that was years ago. And I thought it was better than most comic books.

I thought Clifford was a cartoon?

If anyone here is planning on getting Doom III, I recommend getting the four Doom books instead.

Books don't have online multiplayer, I give them 7.4.

The don't have enough skins either.  They all are, like, rectangular and stuff.

I believe this is first time I've ever been pursuaded to buy something from an interview.

Easily: buy old books that are public property. You're paying only for printing, trasport and service. I got a whole collection of Poe for $5 New Zealand, and Crime and Punishment for only $10. The problem here is that unusual texts that are not often printed in the west are sold at extravagant prices ( e.g. $30 for the Dharmasutras.) The only good living authors are Marquez and Proulx anyway

Or if you know what your looking or, you could try second hand shops.

EDIT: You could even try Project Gutenberg, though it's often cheaper and more convenient to actually buy the book than print it out.

If you can find stores that are either going out of business or just getting rid of some of the books they couldn't sell, you can get them cheap. My sister bought a bunch of books this way for only 50 cents each.

Power-Up made GameInformer's Gear list. Maybe I'll check it out if it ever comes to my local library.
