Title: FIFA 2005 Problems?
Post by: KingDave1682 on November 08, 2004, 01:19:31 PM
Hi all,

I'm new here and have got a problem which is really frustrating me!  Hopefully someone could offer me any assistance.

I got FIFA 2005 the other day and have been playing it a fair bit and love it, especially the Career mode.  Anyway, today I started to get the error "Disc reading Failed" or "Please insert FIFA 2005 disc" messages.  It's been happening a fair bit now, although, it never fails to recognise the disc when first booting up.  I've read that some of the early GC's suffer overheating problem and this can cause the other errors, but it's never happened to any other game before, ever.

Could it be that my GC is overheating due to the fact that the game is constantly streaming information from the disc for the commentary?  Having said that, i also get this mesage sometimes when navigating menu's.

Hs anyone else had this problem, and found a solution, apart from sending it away to be fixed?

Thanks,

If it is only that game disc, it could be scratched or flawed.

Yeah I thought of that too but the game is only 4 days old from brand new.  I look after my games aswell so the disc isn't scratched.  I think my GC is knackered!

I've also just tried Zelda Wind Waker on it and it won't even read the disc, won't even boot it up.  I think this confirms my GC is dying rapidly.  I'm gonna have to get it repaired.

When did you buy it? Is your warranty expired yet?

I got it maybe a year and a half ago, when the Platinum pack came out with Zelda.  I did phone nintendo yesterday in my panic and the guy said they'll fix it free of charge providing I haven't taken it apart or been messing with it (in his words "as long as we don't find a jam sandwich stuffed in it").  Which i thought was good, but i don't want to have to send it away, it'll take ages and cost loads in posting!

Well, either wait ages or cough up the money for a new one. I heard Nintendo doesn't take THAT long to fix them.

You're right dude, I'm gonna have to send it off to be fixed.  I can't keep playing FIFA having to open and close the lid every 30 secs!
