No.  Hee hee, well, I personally think Nintendo has already done Mario sports to death.  But if someone was really interested in doing an arcade-style Mario football game (don't know if you're talking about soccer or North American football) I wouldn't mind seeing it.  I just don't want to see Mario sports games for the sake of Mario sports games.

After Mario Golf and Mario Tennis on the N64 I assumed that Nintendo would continue with a Mario Sport series with each game being a different sport.  Then they surprised me by instead making redundant Cube sequels to Golf and Tennis.  I don't want them to make a Mario Football, Basketball, Hockey, etc. if they're just going to use those games to create more cookie-cutter sequels.  But if they did what I originally thought they would do where each sequel is a different sport I'm all for it.  It would be an easy way to make Mario spinoffs without any redundancy.

Well pinball can turn in to boxing if you're not very good. . .
Or at least a wrestling match with the machine.

"Mario Power Tennis will OWN you..."

Hey if it's anything like the N64 one it will rock.  It's just not a sequel that really needed to be made.  I would have preferred if we got two new Mario sports titles instead of cookie-cutter sequels.  If I want decent but very familiar sequels I'll buy Capcom games.  I became a Nintendo fan because in their hey-dey every game they made had an artistic reason to exist.

I want capcom to make mario football and baseball and basketball and hockey, but in the style of capcom's old arcade games.  Maybe they can even get licenses and create a semi annual series out of it.  I would love a football game that only came out everyother year, and instead of buying a new one you could just download all the stuff for the next season, that way people who care won't waste $50 a year

"Maybe they can even get licenses and create a semi annual series out of it."

Why would you get licenses for a Mario sports game?  There's no need to have NHL teams or anything like that if the players are all Mario based.

Post by: MaleficentOgre on October 14, 2004, 04:39:37 PM
I wanted the mario players to be extra characters like a team you can unlock.  A mario hockey, football, baseball game wouldn't work if just the mario characters were in it.  There aren't enough of them to have team games work.  Golf and tennis are solo games so mario works, when there's a team you need a lot more characters and there just aren't enough mario characters.

You could just have a team of Yoshis or Shyguys or Goombas, that would be awesome.

You don't need whole predetermined teams for a game like basketball, it could be like 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 and choose your teams from all the characters. All the characters could have different characteristics like say mario he could be an all-round player, but seein as he is small he could be a guard. Luigi or "Air Luigi" could be say an expert at jumping and dunking, Bowser could be like a defense king etc....

I reckon it could work if made right.

Nintendo is the biggest developer in the world, do you hate them?  So EA is the single largest publisher ever, if they're publishing good games I don't care.  Would I like them to release burnout on cube, yes, but other than that I don't have a problem with them.

I think that Europe and Australia need Mario Cricket
as a follow up to Super International Cricket on SNES
that sold crazly on SNES in the days and it didnt have licenced names or teams

or atleast a Cricket game that they could make in partnership with another company

My friend, that is a lie.  I HATE EA, I hate everything they stand for and what they do.

WHY DO YOU HATE EA? give me some legitimate reasons.  What do they stand for.  All I know is that They've published some of my favorite games and as long as they keep it up they're cool with me.  Mario tennis is amazing from what I played at the kiosk.  RE4 is going to be the early contendor for game of the year next year.  January can't get here soon enough.

However, I thought volleyball was even more fun.  My friend and I played that over and over.

It's hard to determine what exactly constitutes an ea game....  I don't hate the Sims...but saying the Sims is an EA game is like saying Halo is a Microsoft game...

Woah, just kind of hit the reason why I'm not a huge fan either.

EA tend to start with something good, then ruin it with an onslaught of crappier and crappier sequels. Need for Speed for example, first one was great, second was good, third was alright. Then we got about 400 NFS's on PSone late in its life that very hardly even playable. Now what is it? Need for Speed Underground, which is NOTHING like the original. Sorry racing around wonderful open locations, now you get replaced with ENDLESS wet streets in a crampled non interactive city.

Now Beetle Adventure Racing, THERE's an EA game that was awesome. Sorry, one title only! Here have some more Madden, Harry Potter and NFS. What's the thread about again? Oh, Mario Sports. Mario Dodgeball plz.

Beetle Adventure Racing.

One of the best, if not the best, arcadey racers I've ever played.

WHY? what's wrong with each and every one of their games.  I want you to run down every last game they've ever made and tell me what's wrong with it.

NHL 2001's loading times caused thousands of babies to be born on the floor.
Man: Let's make a baby!
Woman: I've just put NHL in, but okay!

*NINE MONTHS LATER*
Woman: I think the baby is coming!
Man: Shutup, NHL just finished loading!
Woman: Oh SCORE

"WAAAAAAAAAAH"

Madden: Not fun to me...
Sims: Not fun to me...
Ty: Not fun to me...
NFSU: Not fun to me...
LotR: Not fun to me...
Their Bond games: Not fun to me...

And I really don't feel like listing anymore, because I'll just be repeating myself...I just don't like any of the games they publish or dev...Period...

I like games that have at least a bit of charm to them...

I just find it incredibly hard for someone to hate sooo many games.   Out of the hundreds of games they have out you can't find one good one.

what about burnout 3, bill?

Edit: And I have the same stance as you on EA bill  the only 2 titles that tempts me is Burnout 3 on PS2 and Timesplitters future perfect on the cube.

I really feel like the odd man out here.  I love burnout, return of the king, timesplitters, NBA street vol. 2, SSX3, Nascar 2005, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Beetle adventure racing, and freedom fighters. Those are just the games I can see, I'm sure I have other EA games that are burried in the back.
