Try Super Smash Bros Melee. This game is action packed and hectic. I still play this game with my friends and its mad fun with 4 players. It is somewhat overrated and shallow but its VERY cheap so you cant complain...

The previous recommendations, and Kirby Air Ride. That is an awesome and severely underrated game.
Super Smash Brothers Melee is not remotely overrated, however. My friends and I have had more fun with that than any other game ever. It's a freaking awesome game.

There's a game recommendation thread on the top of this forum, read through that and you'll have tons of games on your "must buy" list.
Try Ikaruga, that's really fun in MP...

Godzilla: Destroy all Sequels Melee is pretty fun if you make the drill monster thing a no-go, because Drilly McDrill is freakin' cheap and can ruin a match. The two Bomberman games (Generation and Jetters) are AWESOME fun in multi-player, too. I think Jetters is like $20 US or something, too. SCORE.

EEGAD!! Someone just cursed my beloved Megalon!! RULER of SEATOPIA!! NO!! He is good though, but for some reason my girlfriend always kill me with King Gidorah.
Another fun MP game has got to be Four Swords Adventures. Even with the requirements, it is just a blast.

Mario Party! Most hardcore Nintendo fans have become annoyed with the series' repetitiveness, but almost every casual Nintendo player I run into loves it. Mario Party 5 is usually considered better than 4, but 6 looks like it might break some much-needed new ground...it's not out until Christmas though.

Hmm, you got a problem with Malmsteen? I'll help you either way. Even if Yngwie still rocks.
Wario Ware, Inc: Mega Party Game$ - Great if you can get your friends to put some time into it and get to learn the games - it's nothing less than pure fun after that point.
Kirby Air Ride: Most will disagree with me, but me and my friends have logged hours on this game. Good stuff.
Super Smash Bros: Melee - Goes without saying.
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System - A great, overlooked 3rd person shooter with a damn good multiplayer mode.
Timesplitters 2: Only rivaled by Goldeneye for FPS multiplayer fun. Single player lacks though - but that's not what you asked for.
Super Monkey Ball 1/2: Target's better in Monkey Ball 1, as well as the level designs. Everything else's better in Monkey Ball 2.

Ok, if you like Co-op hack and slash, here's what I recommend:
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance Hunter the Reckoning

I can't believe that someone hasn't mentioned SoulCalibur II yet. That game has to be one of the best multiplayers that I've ever played.

SCII is two player only, that's no fun if there's four people. Unless there is nudity involved.

Mario Kart: Double Dash, Timesplitters 2, Wario Ware, Soul Calibur 2, 1080 Avalanche, Mario Golf, Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, and Super Smash Bros Melee are my favourite multiplayer games. I don't really recommend F-Zero GX as a multiplayer game, it's more of a single player game for me.

Super Monkey Ball 1 - target and golf
Super Monkey Ball 2 - target 2 (yes, both are good, but somewhat different), bowling 2 (especially "crazy lanes" mode for maximum lol!)
Not F-Zero GX - A no no no. I don't like multi-player b/c you loose the sense of speed.

Don't worry. I don't like SSB: M. I'm glad I rented it before buying. I'm not gonna sit in a corner or hide.

Four Swords is a kick-arse multiplayer game. Except when there's one person intent on blowing everyone up with huge bombs instead of actually playing =p Oh, and Mario Tennis will be the greatest multiplayer game EVER.
Oh and in you're into sports there's those.

sounds like you like first person shooters, so if that's the type of game you're looking for I echo the people who said Timesplitters 2. If you want to wait or want to know about future FPS multiplayer games for the Cube, there will be some of those released between now and mid January including Timesplitters 3 and Goldeneye Rogue Agent, there could be more I forgot but that also depends on whether the companies will decide to release them on GC too. Ofcourse now that I think of it you have an Xbox so you'd be better off getting those on XB, but you already want Halo 2. Nevermind then if you want good FPS multiplayer now, Timesplitters 2 is the best and it's only $15 used and $15-20 new.

Yeah I'll admit that when I picked up my copy of Timeslpitters 2 it was at a discounted price at my local Best Buy. I figured "Hey! Thirty bucks! Looks fun!" So I picked it up and I fell in LOVE with that game. It would have been worth it at twice the price.
