Title: Gamecube says "Please insert a Gamcude disk" even when a disk is in
Post by: Proprius on August 25, 2004, 12:23:07 PM
Recently, my GCN's power button got sutck down, and, seeing how I don't have a warrenty, I bought a special screw bit to open up the system and fix it. (Why didn't Nintendo just use regular screws?) The button on the shell was just stuck, so a few jiggles fixed it.
However, when I put the shell back on, and tested the console, it just said, "Please insert a Gamecube disk", (or something like that) without even trying to read the disk! How does the console know whether a disk is inserted or not? Did I mess up the sensor or something? Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks in advance!

Maybe the lid sensor thing [?] broke. Did you leave the lid open when you replaced the shell of the Cube? It's very sensitive.

i had the same problem you'll have to turn a tiny knob (variable resistor) on the under side of a small circuit board under the disk drive
