Title: I'm tired of people saying, "There's no good modern games."
Post by: RCmodeler on August 13, 2004, 12:18:10 PM
What are these people smoking? Here's the most recent example fom lemon64.com and my response:
Quote jeroen wrote: X-box, Gamecube and the PS2 haven't made there peak yet. The machines are here for a while...but I still wait for the real big hits.
Sure it had some great games but most of them are upgraded games from the PS-one..... In the time of the 16 bit there was this period that they released one great game after another......
Dreamcast, Cube, PS2, Box have had lots of big hits: - Halo - Dead or Alive 3 - Soul Calibur 2 - Skies of Arcadia - Grandia 2 - Zelda Wind Waker - Mario Sunshine - Luigi's Mansion - Ratchet & Clank 1 - Ratchet & Clank 2 - Grandia 2 - Space Channel 5-1 - Space Channel 5-2 - DDRMAX 1 - DDRMAX 2 - Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic - Super Monkey Ball 1 - Super Monkey Ball 2 - Splinter Cell - Red Faction - Tekken 4 - Virtua Fighter 4 - Crazy Taxi - Final Fantasy 10 - Final Fantasy 10-2 - Kingdom Hearts - F-zero GX - Metroid Prime - Smash Brothers Melee
Now... what were you saying about "not hitting their peak" and "no hits"???
Also... the 16-bit were just upgrades of the 8-bit games too: Mario All-Stars, Zelda 3, Final Fantasy 2/3, Metroid 3, Phantasy Star 3... just more of the same, but with better graphics. (I guess you've forgotten.)

While it's true that these systems produced many great hits, it's also true that developers (especially developers that work on all three platforms) are still learning the ins-and-outs, so to speak, of each system, like what each is capable of and what each excels at.
With that said, I do not agree with his assertion that the systems have only upgraded games from the original Playstation.

Is jeroen part of PGC? If he's not then wouldn't it be better for you to post that in whatever forum jeroen is from? That way he could actually see it... <.>

Yeah, I hate when I'm in Woolworths, like buying chips and people approach and proclaim there are no good modern games. Thank goodness you posted this list! Now when people spew their vile opinions at me, I can happily go "OH BUT DEAD OF ALIVE 3"
Then chase then around the store. "OH BUT KINGDOM HEARTS"

(1) I did.
(2) This message was directed at EVERYONE who claims the modern consoles have no or few good games. It's meant to talk to multiple people, not just jereon.
(3) What's wrong with posting topics? You guys prefer a dead board with nothing to read?!?!?
