Title: Rare GBA Team Questions Answered
Post by: NWR_Karlie on August 06, 2004, 05:48:56 AM
A new interview with the GBA team at Rare has been posted on the website, with new details on Banjo Pilot.

The latest update on Rare's website features a "Tepid Seat" (because it's not that hot) interview with the Game Boy Advance development team.

28 questions were chosen from those sent in by readers. The GBA Team have recently been working on Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Sabre Wulf, DKC2, Banjo Pilot and It's Mr. Pants.

Things revealed include that there are 32 tracks currently planned for Banjo Pilot and these can be found in Grand Prix modes, Jiggy Challenge, Time Trial and multiplayer. Also mentioned is that Sabre Wulf, It’s Mr. Pants and Banjo Kazooie are currently under development by Microsoft and In-Fusio games for mobile phones.

I saw this the other day and I found this far more interesting... ^_^

Q18: The new Nintendo DS is coming out late this year. What are you guys' plans on porting any of your immensely popular N64 titles to the DS? *cough, oh god, I think I got strep throat! *cough cough* PERFECT DARK ON DS!! *cough*. After all, the DS will be Wi-Fi enabled. Imagine... playing Perfect Dark... online. Yum. (Brian)

A: Sounds cool, but we're not doing any DS games, are we? Or are we? Or... are we?

Oh, and the fact that the mail guy defends Ninty's new DK games is rad...

I heard a rumour on 1-Up.com (not sure how reliable it is) that a lot of Rare employees have bailed out of the company recently.  I don't know whether to be sad because I love Rare or happy because I hate Microsoft.  It would make my gaming choices a lot easier if Kameo and Conker both turned out to be total crap.

Anyway, it's interesting to hear their views on Nintendo and on future GBA games.  Battletoads would be delightful!  But it needs lots of levels and a save feature.  I think Blast Corps might be very interesting on the DS...the weird vehicle controls and smashing techniques might translate to some clever touch-screen action.

Edit: It would make my LIFE a lot easier if the games turned out to be total crap?  Man, I could be homeless or living in a war-torn country or dying of cancer.  My life's already easy enough, but I don't want to be tempted by Xbox.

They dont have to port the SNES version of KI for solid animation. Doom II was on Playstation, but Torus Games didnt port that version. THey made an engine from the ground up (From Duke advance) and...you know the rest.

According to Gamasutra, large-scale walkouts occured a few months ago.Something to do with the management, if I remember correctly.

I believe Rare's management problem was what led to their "sellage" by Ninty in the first place... :\
