General Chat / The Usual Suspects

Well.... I was recording some video earlier today, and something interesting caught my eye.

Recognize anyone here?

It's NWR's very own Johnathan Metts and James Jones! (I'm not sure.. but is that Neal behind them?

Haha, I also see a few other people from the Nintendo journalism world. Anyways, you're probably wondering why everyone is raising their hands with such enthusiasm, especially Mr. James Jones. Well, Mr. Miyamoto addressed the crowed at Nintendo's Round-table, asking who was using StreetPass.

Btw, everyone in attendance who had their 3DS's and StreetPass on got Mr. Miyamoto's Mii! So I hope this gets brought up in the Podcast, because that's a pretty awesome thing to have! Also, it's cool seeing the NWR cast there.

Anyone have the game and wanna throw down?

Friend Code: 0301-9793-9035

I'm not very good, but I really want to test how well the online is with friends that you add, versus the whole random battle option.

(Please don't say I'm the only perv that picked this up....) lol.

Will we see the classic Pokemon on the 3DS? by Supa "Nathaniel" Kirb- 3/16/2011

I was thinking a little more about the 3DS today; and something I really was thinking hard about, was if Nintendo is willing to port the classic Pokemon franchise on the 3DS's virtual console. Now obviously I know we all expect this to happen, I mean, it's something we all would enjoy seeing. So I thought to myself, from a business standpoint, how couldn't they do it? But then I started to wonder, how would the trading process work? As you may recall, the first Pokemon games could connect to each other using a trading cable; and it was such an awesome thing back then, being able to battle + trade with friends. It's one of the features that made Pokemon so successful after all. And let's face it, if you want to have the full Pokemon experience, you need to have a friend with the game opposite of yours. That way you can, as Ash Ketchum would say, 'catch them all.' (Or you might have been a little smarty/rich kid, and bought both versions with multiple systems. But that is just sad to think about, and I imagine it takes away from the 'Poke-experience.')

Anyways, I guess my thinking here is, is Nintendo really going to bother with putting the classic Pokemon games on the 3DS? Knowing full well what fans would expect someway to trade and battle? I know they could probably just modify the games so that they could connect wirelessly via 3DS. But think about this for a second, they would have to do this to every single version. That means, Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver,  and Crystal. They would all have to be modified. I don't know, it almost seems like too much of a hassle for them. I think It also depends on how high they are going to be pricing game boy games. I don't believe they would be willing to go to all this trouble just to make 5 bucks a download. I for one wouldn't mind paying a little extra to play some classic Pokemon.
(Also, little side not here, if you couldn't guess, this has been my attempt to write an article. I want to gain some experience so I can write some reviews in the future.  I know I probably miss use some punctuation at times, and my wording isn't the best, so any tips/advice would be most appreciated.)

General Gaming / STOP GIVING GAMESTOP YOUR MONEY! (GameStop Vs Amazon)
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:35:39 PM »
So I had plans on selling some of my games that I didn't want anymore... So I did what other people in my situation do... I went to GameStop! Power to the Players and what have you!  Anyways, I wanted to check how much they would give me for my games, so let's have a look...

GAMESTOP

First off Epic Mickey. It's a fairly recent Wii game. Not new, but not old either, so let's see what GameStop offers me...

GameStop humbly offers me $16.00 for Epic Mickey..... Original Value? $49.99 + $2.50 State Tax= $52.49 (yeah I keep every one of my receipts)
Not that great of a deal... but hopefully we get something better for Kingdom Hearts!

Kingdom hearts Re:coded
.... Much more recent, hasn't really aged much, and including Tax and all that stuff, I originally  payed $36.74

Now what does Lovely GameStop want to give me for this fairly pricey DS game?

12.00.....

-GameStop Total Value= $28.00....

AMAZON

OK Now let's see what Amazon.com will give me for this stuff...
(Keep in mind Amazon.com is a site that always has price drops and raises, so selling at a more opportune time can deliver better paydays)

OK Epic Mickey. Again, it's a fairly recent Wii game

Amazon gives me $28.75. Hmm.. Not bad considering that's more than half of it's original value.. good start Amazon..

OK now what about Kingdom Hearts?

Amazon gives me...

$22.00. Again, not bad considering that's more than half of it's original value.
(Also, with trade-ins at Amazon, shipping is paid for. (as long as you use a UPS store.) Just thought I'd mention that.)

-Amazon Total Value= $50.75.

FINAL

OK so let's go over all the math here....

GameStop Total Value= $28.00....
Amazon Total Value= $50.75.

Original Total Value=$89.23

Do you see the difference here people? And who knows, if I did this trade-in sooner I would probably get a lot more back.

But long story short.... Trade in your games to Amazon guys... You get store credit for the entire website.. and not just games. Meaning you can spend it anywhere you want, and also any time you want. It's a way better deal than what crappy GameStop is offering.

SUCK IT GAMESTOP! POWER TO THE PLAYERS MY REAR END!
