Had anyone here thought of doing a "catalog exchange"?

Meet and exchange buyable items not available in your shops, then return them to the original owner, and now you can buy them in your shop too?

Yep. Back with Animal Crossing: New Leaf, that was the idea behind my Animal Crossing Trading League Thread. The idea being that a group of forum users would form a team (a league) and trade items with each other. It definitely was a big help in getting more items for one's catalog to acquire things you might want rather than waiting for them to appear in Nook's shop one day.
Whoever said, "Cheaters never win" must've never met Khushrenada.

I think I'm set for a while... LOL

just sold all my turnips (450k worth @ 91ea) for 636.
another upgrade paid off, another loan taken out.

But honestly, working from home on certain days makes it easy to keep an eye out for internet deals so that offloading these turnips don't become so stressful.

But Nintendo REALLY needs to address their approach to online multi-player in this game. It is tedious to have to wait for the incoming or outgoing person before anyone can resume doing anything. It would be so much smoother if only the arriving/departing person was inconvenienced with loading screens while they are sync'd with everyone on the island they are arriving to.

Made some more purchases and sales today so I'm sitting on millions of bells. Also found a town that had peaches and oranges, so I left and came back with apples, pears, and coconuts to hook her up. So I just need one more fruit for my Nook Miles Achievement. Is that the last fruit in the game? I have apples, oranges, pears, peaches, and coconuts.

I've got some cherries if you'd like some, it would also be a good excuse for me to visit you.

Yeah, New Leaf added some more fruits beyond the original six. Maybe they'll be added to Horizons later on.

Well, i was offering some Cherries, but i should've made that clear. 😁

My daughter's friend finally meet up with her on AC, and now we have ROSES!!

I had to steal them from her to keep them safe.
Gonna make a closed garden and pull my Garden Gnome as a guard.

At what point do we get to breed flowers?

I already got a Pink Mum just due to the rain and advantageous placement of the native flowers. I really don't think I'll get into flower breeding until the endgame when I can sit down and decide if I'm going to really retool part of my island just to be a flower-growing operation... : /

The nice thing about this game is you don't have to worry about villagers moving in and randomly wiping out large swaths of your flower growing areas like kept happening to me in New Leaf.

Oh my, my daughter met a character named Harvey. He invited her back to his island.
She went, and once in his house, his main living room is a directors chair with Movie set spot-lights on either side, all facing a "casting couch".

I'm looking at this thinking "W.T.F....!?"
seems like a straight creeper house.

room next to it is a kids play room, there was a padded wall basement and a fenced in grass carpet upstairs. LOL

But she can decorate the house with whatever she wants. and invite models....

what is this place....? He just showed up on our island.
I wasn't really paying attention when she met the character, but is this some place she can come back to? LOL

Yeah Harvey’s Island is a house you can set up the rooms for photos. You can invite animals over and dress them up with any item and stuff. Yeah, it’s creepy- I went once and never went back. Mostly because the photo app on the Nook Phone is easier to access among other reasons. Harv’s Island is cursed.

I’m down to do exchanges. I wish the guide wasn’t being delayed because I could have a full list to work from. There’s a buy/trade site setup like EBay, but it’s called Nookazon. It’s really a shame Nintendo didn’t put some kind of check list available in the actual phone app. I wonder if they even considered making the Nook Link app reflect the in game phone. I played last week with a friend who suggested we try the voice chat feature and I gotta say that it’s the worst garbage I ever had to listen to. My wireless ear buds kept losing connection and the audio was really choppy. I really want this stuff to be better, but I’m not surprised.

I just started playing a few days ago. Got the museum and the shop open, mostly thanks to the rock breaking tip in this thread.

Question: When do I get the ladder?

Hmmm I admit that I thought you'd have it by now, but I did some research and it sounds like the ladder is a reward for progressing in Nook's plans to invite people to the island. If you ask Nook what to keep doing that'll probably lead you down the path to unlock the ladder, which be warned will involve a whole bunch of crafting.

Or if you want to post DODO code I or someone else could visit you and bring you the recipe that we've already unlocked!

Oh, ok. I'd been putting off doing the Nook move-in stuff, but I can get on that.  I'll try to post my DODO code later, when I'm playing more regularly.

Update: got the ladder recipe! Thanks, Kairon!

Yeah, lots of juicy tidbits in the datamining.

There is reference to diving and a new set of sea creatures probably caught by diving.

There is reference to a museum cafe and museum gift shop...I'll just post the list:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/04/massive_animal_crossing_new_horizons_datamine_reveals_exciting_potential_features
Quote
  • Two extra museum upgrades are mentioned
  • All three house levels (after the tent) appear to contain an art section
  • Two new stand-alone buildings are mentioned: the museum shop, and the museum cafe – the latter of which incorporates a Gyroid section
  • Redd appears to have a ship which will dock on the ‘secret beach’ at the north of the island
  • The ‘fake art’ mechanic will make a return
  • The code that pops up a “select an item” box (to gift a villager, to sell, to swap a fish out for, and so on) has a “cTunekichi” (Redd) option – more evidence that he's perhaps coming back
  • Bushes are mentioned: azalea, hibiscus, holly, hydrangea, camellia, osmanthus (although those might change; the list actually changed between version 1.0.0 and 1.1.4)
  • Vegetables which can be grown are mentioned: tomato, wheat, sugar cane, potato, carrot, pumpkin
  • Update 1.0.0 has a file for a “Seafood” Critterpedia page that’s supposed to contain 33 items – the only one actually in the released game is the manila clam
  • There’s a third Nook’s Cranny upgrade referenced
  • Swimming is mentioned; diving will allow you to obtain fish (a different set from fishing) and seaweed – there’s a portion of the save file reserved to store them already
  • There are unused shopping interfaces in the game: ‘cGardening’, ‘cMuseum’ (possibly the aforementioned museum shop), ‘cRealEstate’, ‘cGallery’
  • There’s a function that stores a ‘play report’ (Nintendo’s aggregate stats on gameplay) with three variants: get_recipe_diy, get_recipe_clothing, get_recipe_cooking – only the DIY one is actually ever used, so the other two might be in the plans
  • Some mentions of stuff here have been removed from 1.1 onwards; the list mentioning ‘FlowerBush’ and vegetable names has been modified to list ‘FlBu, V0, V1, V2,
’ instead, one mention of Redd’s shop has gone from ‘TsunekichiShop’ to ‘TShop’ – ‘TShop’ is in what seems to be a list of doors that buildings can have
  • Since 1.1 they’ve added ‘WOffice’ as well, which isn’t actually used yet
  • There’s a list of types for items where every type is used in the game, except for “Art” and “Dishes"
