Nintendo Gaming / Re: Metroid Other M

ok so i watched the trailer again.

at the very end samus is in her suit, this doctor looking woman walks in. she (samus) says "I am Samus Arun" the camera closes into the other woman and black.

is it just me, or does it seem like the doctor lady is about to say "so am i."?  (which i believe is what caterkiller was refering too...)

or "No, I AM YOUR FATHER!!!" and then she pulls out a light saber and rips her face off to reveal a beautiful black visage shaped like a skull and this dark breathing voice and then next 15 hours of the game is just this epic fight until you (samus) get your hand cut off and escape, narrowly. But when you get back, instead of a hand they give you a gun, a gun that interfaces with your brain so you can open doors with it.

aww yeah.

err. or something.

i am looking forward to this. i think that this is a good change for Samus. the FPA was a fantasic set of games, but this allows two things: Retro to make something else and Samus to keep evolving.

as for exploration, it didn't seem to be addressed either way in the trailer. since the return of an almost 2d playing method i suspect it is still there. and while the action was definatly flashier than MP, it isn't anything beyond stuff i've wanted to do to MP bosses.

and i liked fusion, another of my "must be the only one" list....

yeah, i got it (because i am a squeenix whore) and rydia's tale is offered for 300 points.

my guess (and only a guess) is that it will be designed to cost around $40 like the DS games or a bit less...

800 + (8 * 300) = 3200

edit: is there a thread for this game soemwhere? also, wedge and biggs are on the first airship.

ditto with the episodes. i mean don't get me wrong, i am getting this when i get home, but if FF4 came out, it would be 800 since it was an SNES game, so unless this is longer than that...

actually i got the nerf one. it can double as roommate defense when needed.

beat the game today. great game. used just the one pistol all the way through (though maxed its specs). sucks that it shows them loading the assault rifles and then you still get your pistol.

the self commentary at the end is priceless.

actually it is ironic that this is just announced. i had lost my copy of demetium a while ago having not made it to the end.

so two weeks ago with retro graming challege i bought it again.

so what did i find last night? figures, no? shame i opened the other one, i could send it back.

ok, just got this and played the first four levels last night. great game. everything i wanted RE:UC to be in a shooter (i returned that one...) and as has been said over and over, the style and dialogue are great.

going to get a gun perphial though, agreed that just the wii mote wasn't the best way to play.

ROBOTECH CRYSTAL DREAMS

dragon quest X is still some of the biggest news around, let's hope that gets a bit of play during E3. while we are at it, why not bring over guild wars? we could use a good online game.

i know we are in time for a new zelda, but somethng doesn't feel right for it. i suspect we are another year off from a zelda. and i think that it will be (for better or worse) NOT another ocarina of time style game. i think it will be different. how? that i am not sure of. i would just like to minimized the block pushing puzzles in this one.

i do suspect there will be a kid icarus/something else old but cool type of announcement.

oh and remember nintendo bought the xenosaga company? wouldn't it be nice if they did something with that? you know, like put those games on nintendo hardware?

just saying.

Ju-On: The Grudge turns the Wii Remote into an on-screen flashlight, as players move through an abandoned warehouse, a dimly-lit hospital, and a mannequin factory, staple locations of horror games. The Wii game has a bit of a twist, as a second Wii Remote can be used to "make in-game events happen immediately to make the player jump and hate you forever."

It's also a hate simulator!
That should come in handy when showing this game off to friends & family. especially those that that hate horror movies and cheap scares :)

this is full of win.

flesh wound? anyone? bueler?

over the shoulder eh?

you think that you will get more points for drawing the fight out, rather than quick kills, like you know, real gladiator stuff?

i am excited about this. see, i never finished one or two. really i tried, i played them a lot but i got distracted. so this is an excuse to go finish them. especially after the awsome that is MP3 controls.

any word/thoughts/etc about MP2 multiplayer?

if this is done like soul caliber or tekken i think it could be interesting. the picture looks too linear, which i am hoping is just a issue with the camera angle.

i was a H:TR fanatic (the paper game). I own all of the games, but only played the GC version (lol, no xbox or ps2). good games, but really didn't have much to do with the paper game.

« on: May 22, 2009, 09:26:27 AM »
i'm sorry, until we get a NFS with online, i am not getting one. i have underground and it is agreat looking game. but the most recent one that came out? undercover or whatever?

every.single.version(yes uncluding the DS).had.online. except the wii.

and you can't say EA doesn't know how. Heroes 2 has 32 (!!) player online.

so nitro is a neat looking game, i am glad they are focusing on the Wii. but i still feel as if we are being half-assed

i think there is a lot of truth in Ian's post. Nintendo doesn't seem to know how to advertise itself very well.

Care to give any recent examples?  Maybe more than just a random game here or there?

i think the fact that i can't give examples may prove my point. when i think nintendo ad, the most recent ones i can remember are the two guys in the smart car. before that i remember metroid prime 2 with the gymnist girl, but all in all i don't remember them.

now i am talking TV ads here. naturally you see print ones in gamer mags more often, but TV? if they are there, i am missing them, and i am the core audience.

edit: i remember the animal crossing wild world with the animals visiting someone's house.
