old thread resurrection time.

so i got this, and it is a great FPS for the ds. never been a fan of vehicels (still ain't) but other than that the game place is good fun, challenging but not impossible.

except. on this stupid level where i need to be a speed sniper with artillery on the nearby rooves. as much as i try i keep failing. why? because there is a huge sign in the way of a good number of spots they shoot from. anyone got the game with advise?

there is totally a level that is homage (rip off?) of moon. you control a mini camera bot thingy to search through a building for the bad guys.

online is 6 people and fun, even if i die a lot.

side note: it is because of this game i found out the l trigger on my DSi didn't work. seems i'd been playing games that just didn't use the triggers at all. but hey, N fixed it for me.

@thatguy

the single and multiplayer aspects are nearly the same. the game flow goes like this: you are in town where you can shop, talk to people, etc. from there you go to the quest desk to get a quest (only one at a time). once you have a quest you can grab NPC's to join you (up to three) and then you get beamed out to the location of the quest.

there is a story that you will be apart of, which so far is pretty interesting.

demos are the hotness, about time. now we just need some DSidemos... or better yet just the Apple App store set up for the DSi. (yeah yeah, i know, nintendo is more protective than Apple, i can dream tho, no?)

does this pokemon talk to the DS? (no, right?)

i checked the web iplayer site tonight and it didn't work. =\ hope this channel comes to America.

and Black, Netflix uses Silverlight now. while i suspect they could go back to flash, it was a DRM choice, not a technological one that they switched.

thanks for the camera tip, i knew about L, but rotating the camera would be more useful at times.

i am at lvl 6, but that dragon bumped me off. will try again post homework. I am surprised at how little the touch pad does.

and i agree, the game is awsome. i look forward to some online play with you guys soon.

greg, we played it. a lot. there were guide books, but mostly we played it and talked about it. i beat ff4 on the snes probably 4 times, (ff 1 way way more than that).

oh and twewy is fantastic game. even if it gets suddenly hard at boss time.... *grrr...*

i returned RE:UC after a short playing session. the game was crap. just my humble opinion though.

house of the dead overkill got my money. it was a light gun game that was always a light gun game with a great style and purpose.

i do think that ea blaming its lack of sales on nintendo's lack of games doesn't make much sense. also i think there will be a resurgance of FPS's now that the M+ is out. it will start with Red Steel 2, and if it is good (meaning we buy it) there will be more. the potential for wii-controlled FPS's is so great, i just keep hoping something comes of it.

NinGurl69 *huggles did i a great job of describing this game, so i'll not repeat.

the game is fun, looks great. its hard. i played in a dark house with only the TV on for light. which equates to almost just the flashlight in the game. i suspect a few of the people who didn't like it played it in the middle of the day. oh and IGN's rating is criminal. i am starting to think that most of the reviewers at IGN don't actually like video games.

TalkBack / Re: Why Nintendo Doesn't Get It (Regarding New DS Rumor)
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:01:45 PM »
i want to throw something into the fire (hat? whatever your metaphor)

i don't think nintendo is competing with the PSP, and certainly not the iPhone with the DS. i think it is the other way around. The DS has such a strangle on the handheld market that as long as they don't screw  up the DS2 (tegra!) things will go just fine for big N.

this is NOT to say that the iPhone and PSP aren't doing well, aren't competing, etc. but there are two things to remember:

first the iphone as a handheld gaming competition is nearly a joke. Bad battery life, no buttons, etc, etc. sure the games will look nice, but could you imagine platforming with accelerometers? it is one thing on the Wii where there is separation of screen and control, but when you have to keep your eyes on the controller as you 'waggle' ain't a pretty thing. civ, soduku and even driving games, sure. but FPS (not impossible) and platformers, not so much. (touching the screen to fire? now i can't see what's going on!) (disclaimer, i am an apple fan boy)

handheld games have one advantage over console games. no one seems to think it odd to have an iphone and a DS and a PSP. hell i have a DSi and a gameboy micro in my travel bag at all times. they compete against each other, but then they don't.

just MHO.

RGC is a fantastic game, everyone should get it. as for the localization... get rid of the 'plot' if that helps! just give me challenge and then the game. make me figure the rest out (or learn to read japanese) =D

i still have ff5 for the GBA unopened for when i miss those boxes.

and when i get time to you know, play it. (sigh, i am such a squeenix whore)

carts do make sense, you can get  32 gb cards now which should be able to fit most games these days. if not, there are up to 256 (though i wouldn't want to pay more for the card than i did for the game consule. unless it was a final fantasy game.)

i do think there is some merit in crossing the line between consul and portable. animal crossing missed this boat, really hard too. why can't i play the same game on the DS and the Wii? i mean the SAME game. same thing with mario kart, or what have you.

so the carts will be DS2 carts, all will be scalable from three inch screens to 60 inch HD televisions. nintendo will finally understand this "internets" thing and load times will be so fast you can beat MGS faster than someone on Xbox can get it started.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii Lite - a Hypothesis

hm. well that shoots the idea. i swore the wii worked like the DS where there was a second chip in there for game cube compatibility. Then you are right, removing the ports doesn't save enough to change the Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii Lite - a Hypothesis
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:33:33 PM »
so i was staring at my unplayed gamecube games and was thinking about how that was a big selling point for the Wii.

but we are fairly far into the generation now. Sony has dumped hardware PS2 compatibility, XBox only had limited to begin with, which leaves the Wii.

So allow me to go out on a limb.

Wii Lite to debute. It will remove all of the GameCube hardware, but increase the internal memory to four gigs (ish).

This should allow the price to go down. Memory is cheep these days.

perhaps M+ or Wiispeak in there if the price stayed the same, but that i'm not so sure about.

the idea would be to lower the price of the Wii, as people want/think, etc, but not to make the Wii 2 jump (like HD or something). People who have a Wii won't be getting a new one (since Wii =\= DS) but those that don't would have an incentive too (the lower price).

1UP: I noticed that at the end of the trailer there appeared to be another Samus. What role does she play?

YS: She's not actually a second Samus, but she's a very, very important character within the game.

ah, well so much for my speculations. and i was so looking forward to darth arun

But I think it would be really weird if players 3 and 4 were both Toad

agreed, who would want to be player four then? seems to me that they can find one more person to be there.. (i'm looking at you Master Chief, you know you want to do the greatest crossover in gaming history...)
