Extreme Sandwiches
« on: February 15, 2009, 01:20:08 AM »
Recently I finished a project (redecorating my apartment) and wanted to start something new. I decided to make extreme sandwiches. Below is my first attempt. Anyone else ever make one?

It is an Italian sausage sandwich that cost about $25 to make and weighed about 4 pounds when completed. It's not as big or "extreme" as some sandwiches I have seen online, but it was my first prototype.

The ingredients were:
- 1 loaf of garlic bread (3/4 cup of melted butter, tablespoon of olive oil and Emeril's Garlic Parmesan Essence)
- 15oz marinara sauce
- 4 Italian sausages about 3.5 oz each
- 2 cloves of garlic, caramelized
- half a yellow onion, caramelized
- about half a cup grated Parmesan
- about 30 slices of pepperoni
- 8oz of fresh mozzarella
- spicy Italian herb seasoning

Can I have your copies of Umbrella Chronicles and Obscure after you die of a heart attack?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I don't eat the whole thing at once, sheesh. Just for that crack, my next culinary delight will be a German wiener sandwich.

It'll cost you considerably more than the $25 you spent on your first sandwich.

I should post photos of the pancakes I do once in a while with banana, chocolate chips, blue berries, cinnamon not in the exact order or just in itself *drools*.

Dude where do you buy your groceries that it cost $25 to make that sandwhich? The Ovoline mozz (it's not really "fresh" unless you make it yourself) is usually pretty expensive, so I imagine a good chunk of the budget came from that. If you want really good Ovoline, get Grande. Grande makes the best mozzarella in that you can buy in the US.

I don't know if it was "Italian certified" fresh but it was sealed in liquid and cost about $5-$6 if I recall. I bought all my ingredients at Fred Meyer.
