The very last section when you press the switch that causes panels to spell "THANK YOU!!"... Was I the only idiot who tried to jump across said panels instead of taking the moving platform?

I tried it and noticed the platform while scrambling across the letters.  Then I died  :'( .  The platform was my friend after that moment.

Any chance of a list of all the Mystery Boxes? I wouldn't mind making sure I've done all of them without StreetPassing.

hopefully you at least bought the issue.

Of course I did

Take this with a boulder of salt, but I went to Gamestop a little while ago hoping against hope that the Power of Flight card wasn't for Game Informer subscribers only (it was), and the clerk told me that at some point (though he didn't know when) they'd be selling booster packs.  So maybe things will get a little easier here pretty soon.

I went to EB Games and picked up a copy of Game Informer (which I had never even heard of) just for the Power of Flight. It was there.

And, although, I don't recall if this is /official/ or fanon, but I do recall the idea that Link would always stand with his shield facing Death Mountain, this the "story" behind the sprite flipping.

The article I linked mentions that that was in a guide at some point.

Also, that manual says that "Rubies" are the currency so canon must have been kinda shaky at that point.  By "originally" I chose to assume they meant "before the Wii" rather than trying to trick us with whether they cut corners by flipping sprites (though I also considered the latter ;))

Link suffers from having an Ambidextrous Sprite. When I was answering the quiz, I really wasn't sure whether that would count as him being "ambidextrous" but was correct in assuming that he was "supposed" to be left-handed.

Golden Reggie, notably redesigned since sending the stationery and the QR code they printed in Nintendo Power

I've updated my list of haves and wants.  For those who have posted your "haves" - are these cards you're interested in trading/selling, or are you just listing the cards you've gotten?
I wasn't quite sure what you wanted there so I just listed them.

Same

Kid Icarus isn't bad but the best part of Nintendo Video was the first half of the 3D Kirby episode.  I'm pretty well a fan of anything whose source material I can respect and was a pretty big fan of Right Back at Ya! back in the day.  Seeing some of the best moments recreated was cool though the ending was a very big WTF!

Or rather, not...

The new disc drive they installed didn't even register that I put a disc inside and wouldn't eject SS D:

So shipped it back to Nintendo yesterday.  The waiting game resumes

my version of Frogger Hyper Edition is running across the street as a child when I saw a Car coming...and touching my neighbors fence, before the car passes.

Sorry Brandogg, after talking with the representative, enough money was knocked off that it was less than $10 more expensive than you and I could ship it somewhere here in Ontario.

That being said, I can say that I have emerged unscathed from Nintendo's support hotlines.  I found the whole thing to be very well organized; the automated menus weren't terribly long or obtuse.  After navigating said menus, I made it clear that I would need to speak to somebody and was only put on hold for a few seconds (I assume that discrepency can be explained by human reaction time on the other end.)

The representative was very nice and, as I said, was able to nix the price a bit for me which was great.

Overall, a positive experience for which I give Nintendo kudos.

P.S. During my brief time on hold, I learned that they play Zelda's Lullaby while you wait :D

Oh, like the official (though non-gold pantsed) Nikki... did that in a heartbeat.  Although she just counted as having been met through invitation.

I'm pretty sure those are 2  different kinds of distributions.  Japan's had Iwata show up in the Plaza but unable to be sent to the Maker.  He was level 5 in Find Mii though IIRC

and you likely made them aware of it. congratulations.
if you submit it through the "submit news" button on the front page next time, they might credit you with the tip.

Thanks for the advice

Nintendo Gaming / Official special Miis

As we know, in the Mii Maker, Nintendo can distribute official Miis (described as "special") which have golden pants and limitations on redistribution.  Having gotten my first the other day, I was thinking we could start compiling and maintaining a list of those that have been distributed so far.

To my current knowledge, these are region-locked btw.

NoA:
-Rainn Wilson: Released on the official 3DS Facebook page as the first in an apparent series of celebrity Miis.

Nintendo of Japan:
I think I heard they released Iwata or somebody...?

A Google search earlier also led me to info about an Australian celebrity that I, for one, had never heard of.

I can always tweak this post to be better worded as well as more complete as we get our info together.

Which number did you call, I'd love to get "my" Wii fixed instead of getting a new one... but at 85$+s&h is more than 2/3 times what I can get one for.  Hopefully I could sweet-talk them into nixing some fees.

Thanks a lot, I'll look into that :D.

NP subscription's been lapsed for a while and I've had the Wii at least long enough that Galaxy 1 was recent so I don't imagine I'm just barely past the warranty

Neither Wii nor GCN works. Any original warranty I ever had on it is surelly long gone... Is that a problem? Did they screw with the system memory?

Well I didn't get anything from Pokédex or Zelda...

Also, they  seem to be advertising some new survey I should be getting from Nintendo Video https://club.nintendo.com/watch-videos.do#tab=nintendovideo

Nintendo Gaming / Wii not reading discs

Name says it all :P

My Wii stopped reading discs (though as far as I can tell everything else works fine).
I tried cleaning the lens using some tips I found on Youtube figuring that I was going to have to buy a new one anyway even if I didn't screw up and scratch it or w/e.  No (positive at least) effect from that though.  Not really sure if I messed it up more than it already was.  Any ideas/tips other than getting a new one and getting out SD cards to transfer everything over?
