Interesting but I would have much preferred that DuckTales game that one of the developers of Epic Mickey said they wanted to do but Disney did not seem to.

Hey, look at that; it's what TellTale should have done in the first place. I would have gladly bought a physical copy of Tales of Monkey island for $50, but now it's too late. Instead I watched the longplay (and again recently lol) ::)

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Facing Wii U Development Issues?
« on: August 23, 2011, 09:39:12 PM »
Maybe this is Nintendo's way of avoiding saying they were wrong but giving many consumers what they want by having a more traditional console..? Not that the Wii U tablet being awesome isn't debatable or anything.

TalkBack / Re: New 3DS Add-On in the Works? Redesign on the Way?
« on: August 23, 2011, 03:41:11 AM »
Honestly aside from the occasionally far too squeaky d-pad on systems such as mine, I don't mind the current design of the 3DS at all and feel Nintendo did a good job with it (though I do think that their branding may confuse some people and I wouldn't mind them coming out with a new and improved model). However, I'm really hoping these new ideas Nintendo has will be applied to the Wii U before its release so that it may get some major overhauling and revisions, but that's me.

I hope this was worth creating a Facebook account (which I said I would never do cause I'm a rebel like that!)

You can always close it when it is over. ;)

Yeah but the people behind Facebook are sort of tools. I mean I closed my account down once because I didn't want it (I reopened it because I needed to e-mail somebody something and it was easier than doing it over hotmail... for some reason that I don't remember) and it said I could reopen it at any time and all of my stuff was still kept on their servers. It sort of felt like they were saying "Oh sure, sure, you don't want Facebook anymore... but, 'just in case' you don't have any willpower and are addicted like so many others, the option will always be there. Stupid drone." ...At least that's how it made me feel, lol. I hardly ever get on facebook unless I want to e-mail somebody who no longer uses MSN. But, like I said, I reopened my account soo... -_-

TalkBack / Re: THQ Lays Off 200 Employees
« on: August 10, 2011, 05:33:45 AM »
I actually applaud THQ for this (even companies like the once great Rare use to do a lot of licensed crap before they relied on their own IPs), though I do wonder if they've dissolved any recently renewed partnerships they've had with their various licensees (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/18/thq-soaks-up-multi-year-spongebob-rights-includes-3ds-game/).

I actually really liked a couple of THQ's licensed games, but with different developers taking over the licensed franchises all the time, their licensed games' quality varied greatly and wasn't consistent. I haven't seen a good licensed game come from THQ in some time.

I guess all of the licenses THQ had the rights to will all have to find different publishers and developers, so if anyone is actually interested in the various licenses THQ had the rights to and what happens to them then this news could be interesting.

He was, however, more negative on the concept of having a game that is free to play, but charges users for item purchases. He feels that that sort of game would damage the premium value of Nintendo's content.

Between this and the self-imposed pay-cuts, my respect for Iwata's philosophies are at an all-time high.

Honestly I didn't think the pay cut (for Iwata, at least) was really that much as a true sacrifice as much as something that may have needed to be done and a publicity stunt (not that I don't think it was somewhat of a sacrifice) but I completely agree about highly respecting his philosophies, especially on this subject.

TalkBack / Re: Super Mario 3D Land Impressions
« on: July 31, 2011, 03:55:15 PM »
The linear, sidescroller-esque gameplay and almost grid-based movement that the game appears to have really turned me off from being interested in it, since I was personally hoping for a new Super Mario game in the style of Super Mario 64 or Sunshine, or at least not more linear and sidescrolling based than the Super Mario Galaxy games.

I'm sure the game will be fantastic and it's completely about preference, but I really wish Nintendo would have finally released a new long-awaited open world Super Mario game. Ah well as I said I'm sure it will be great, and there's always the Wii U.

TalkBack / Re: Iwata Taking 50 Percent Pay Cut Over 3DS Sales
« on: July 30, 2011, 04:05:58 AM »
Iwata-san is wise and noble. I feel happy that Nintendo is in his hands.

Strange that they picked a showman like Reggie to head up NoA - quite the opposite. I guess they thought that is what Westerners like, and sadly, it seems they are right.

To judge people on such trivial things as you seem to be is shallow IMHO. No offense, but what matters is how they're shown in their actions and I think there were a lot of "unsavory" decisions Nintendo as a whole has made as of late.

Also, why do you say "I guess they thought that is what Westerners like, and sadly, it seems they are right."? I mean I guess you could have heard a lot of fans say they like Reggie (personally I've heard mostly the opposite) but really who cares about how the figureheads appear? I don't know, maybe I'm just a little touchy because I am a Westerner and it seemed like you basically just insulted all Westerners, but as I said I probably just thought that because I'm touchy about the subject of being belittled for being a Westerner.

Anyways I do like Iwata, but it seems like between various things that I personally really don't like about the Wii U and the failing sales of the overpriced 3DS (which is now very nicely priced, IMO), it's a little hard not to look at one of the biggest decision-makers in the company as a sort of embodiment of a lot of the issues that the company has, too. As far as I know NOA and NOE both really don't have that much to do with the actual decision-making in Nintendo's big plans, just in the localization products and distribution in those regions. So unless I'm wrong and NOA and NOE really do play a bigger roll in Nintendo's decisions, Reggie is basically just an unimportant business man(?)

TalkBack / Re: Breaking Down the 3DS Ambassador Program
« on: July 29, 2011, 01:28:04 AM »
"At the end of it all, you paid $80 more for 20 free games. Is it worth it?"

Actually, at the end of it all you paid $250 for a Nintendo 3DS because you thought it a fair price and because you wanted to get it at release but now, since the producers of the product find that it isn't selling and need to drop its price to make amends, they are offering you free stuff. Still, regardless of what deal you had originally accepted, it does seem a little unfair that Nintendo soon after offers a much more modest price to everyone.

I'm just happy I sold my 3DS while it was still valuable so I could get a Vita for around the same price (not that the 3DS isn't awesome or I am making a point as a Vita fanboy or anything, that's just what ended up happening when I saw what the Vita had to offer and my specific 3DS had a terrible d-pad. Now that the 3DS's price has dropped I could see myself picking one up again around the holidays if I have a sudden interest to play some great looking Nintendo exclusives). I just hope consumers will start flocking to the 3DS so that it and what's shaping up to be a great library will thrive, although I think what the biggest problem is now is branding; like the Wii U I think casual gamers will get the 3DS confused for "just another Nintendo Wii/DS."

Sounds like it's the first mainstream Legend of Zelda game since Majora's Mask that is very unique to the series in terms of the story setup. All I'm waiting for is a pre-order bonus and I'm there : )

TalkBack / Re: Xenoblade and The Last Story Coming Stateside?
« on: July 07, 2011, 11:51:21 PM »
If this is true I think Nintendo may just be getting desperate to put something new on the Wii for US consumers as there has been talk of a drought of games for the system. Between that and Nintendo probably hearing about the pleading fans who want these games to come out in the US, they may have just thought they might as well to appease fans and say that they're listening when really releasing these games stateside would sort of be killing two birds with one stone (two birds with two stones? Or maybe three, depending on whether or not the other will come out in the states...whatever you know what I mean).

« on: July 07, 2011, 11:18:56 PM »
Good thing I got my patent for a time machine in early. Come 2050, I'm going to make BANK.

Once the prototype of my Time Machine is completed I'm coming back to eliminate the events which lead to you getting that patent...

Anyways this whole lawsuit interests me, I wonder if it has any weight behind it and is a solid case at all?

TalkBack / Re: Miyamoto Explains why Wii and Wii U are White
« on: June 17, 2011, 03:26:09 AM »
Some people think the Apple-esque white is sleek, I think it's bland. Seriously, I would have loved a touch of red on the Wii U, although it's obvious that Nintendo doesn't really care that much about how the console itself looks anyways seeing how they've hardly shown it.

TalkBack / Re: Metal Gear Solid 3 Video Comparison: 3DS vs. PS2
« on: June 03, 2011, 06:06:13 PM »
While it is a pretty big toss-up and there are some parts on the 3DS that, I think look better, IMO the PS2 version looks superior. Not that it really matters to me, I'm not a huge MGS fan, I'm just waiting for more news of Super Mario 3DS ^_^
