TalkBack / Re: Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign Announced

I'll pick up Super Metroid for 30 cents.
That's the only one worth buying for me :/  I'd get mother if I could as well.  Wish there were some better titles on that list.

TalkBack / Re: Two Zelda Titles Are Coming to Wii U

Was in no way expecting any zelda news at all this morning.  Very pleasantly surprised.  Very reassuring to hear that they plan on shaking up the foundations of zelda, particularly relating to linearity.  A dark souls-style open-ish world would work well, I think, rather than something like skyrim.  Give you plenty of places to go and things to do, but have an 'easiest' or 'best' path you can take that will make progress smoother.  Let me do dungeon 2 if I want, but the enemies will be too tough without the item from dungeon 1, or something along those lines.

Crossovers are smart because i have zero interest in shin megami, but I love fire emblem, so this might get me to start playing shin megami in the future if I like it.

I just love announcement of announcements :p

Seriously though it's nice that they at least mentioned it and told us when to actually expect news rather than being silent or saying 'please be patient'

Neal's going to give this game a 10 and everyone's going to mock him for it for years.

Have to say, I'm pretty dang excited for this.

Was going to say something similar :)

This is almost as bad, if not worse than 3DS.  I just hope it picks up like 3DS did.  At least monster hunter will give me 200+ hours of gameplay.

I want 3 things to come out of this:
  • Miiverse support across systems
  • Unified account system and virtual console sharing between consoles
  • Using 3ds as a different controller and/or playing wii U games on 3DS on the go.

Have 2 20 dollar eshop cards waiting for feb

And nobody is surprised :)
If Y is colored RED, and X is colored blue, if they make a Z, will it be green or yellow?

I really want code of princess, and it's nice that it's on eshop now so i'll be more likely to play it in short bursts, but I really hope it gets a price drop in the future.  I think this will also keep the retail version from being as rare, so maybe it will drop in price instead of go up in price once it's out of print.

TalkBack / Re: Monster Hunter 3G Seeing Wii U Digital Release in Japan
« on: December 20, 2012, 12:38:27 PM »
Makes me hopeful for US launch mh3g.  I'm actually going to wait until it goes digital to buy it.  I hope it's at launch.  This is the kind of game that I play on an impulse sometimes, so if it's on the homescreen it'll be great.

If anyone has played a bit further in the pikmin game in nintendoland, there are a few ideas in there that might make their way into the final game, such as the 3 types of pikmin upgrades.  They have a hammer that makes the pikmin drop hard on top of enemies, a vine that lets the pikmin home in on enemies once thrown, and a fist that shoots the pikmin at an enemy like a bullet.  That could expand upon the nectar upgrades by making you choose which upgrade is best for certain types of enemies (hammer for ones with weak spots on top, vines for flying enemies, and the fist for enemies that move fast or have weak spots on the side).

I'm very excited to have this game digitally on my 3DS. Between this, Monster Hunter 3G, and Animal Crossing, my 3DS gaming pallete is gonna be comfortably full.

You and I are downloading the same 3 digital games!  The kinds of games I want to have on my system at all times.  Fire emblem because of all of the DLC.

I count roughly 53 nintendo published titles on the wii (65 if you count wiiware) in north america:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_products_published_by_Nintendo

This is vs (estimated by counting and trying to figure out japan only titles):

NES: 70
SNES: 45
N64: 50
Gamecube:  50

So, with the exception of NES, 50 nintendo published titles seems to be the M.O.   A
Also, note:  during the NES era, it seems like nintendo published a lot of titles that would normally be 3rd party published today.  Probably in an effort to gain steam for the video game industry.

If I had to guess as to why the wii to wii U transfer is such a pain, it's to prevent the exploits on the wii from occurring again on wii U.  There are vids of people still crashing wii Mode using the smash bros brawl SD card hack, so you can boot into homebrew, but the wii U prevents you from installing anything homebrew.  So if I had to guess why they make you jump through loops, it's to prevent piracy from trespassing into wii U again.  A pain in the butt on a consumer level, but it'll make developers less weary of their games being pirated.

as a person who doesn't really have people to play local multiplayer with, the lack of online play in anything really sticks out like a sore thumb.

These games wouldn't be nearly as fun online as they are in a living room full of shouting people.  Sure, it'd provide SOME appeal, and you'd probably try them once or twice and then get bored.  I honestly don't think it would have been a good investment for Nintendo to bring these games online.  It's a bummer, but I understand their decision.

This really should have been implemented for launch, I wanna be able to play Super Metroid on the Gamepad goddamit!

While it would have been a nice feature, I'm glad this is on the backburner, and their priorities are on other more pertinent online features and an eshop at launch.   At least we know they're aware that it is something people want, and we could see it as an update soon!

I wonder if nintendo network ID works like an xbox live ID or like a battlenet ID.  If it's like xbox live, whoever gets a launch system will get the best chance to get the best names.

This is definitely the type of game I will buy on eshop.  It's the kind of game i'd like to take with me everywhere, so, not having it take up physical real estate will be a huge plus.
