What Nintendo On Demand system?

And for those claiming this level editor takes away the hard work of programmers and artists... I take it you've never played LittleBigPlanet or the Mario vs DK series. Those games were designed for user created content.

And I was saying I didn't care what level packs are used. I'd prefer something more recent than the original Super Mario Bros., but maybe tools based on SMB3, SMW, and NSMB are planned as DLC.

damn I was almost sold on buying a Wii U too. Now I will have to settle for an Xbox One.

Dude stop trolling. There are plenty of reasons to get a Wii U. You can own more than one console, you know. Most people get Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games, and have another console for third-party titles.

Well I've been reading conflicting comments about this photo on other websites, especially NeoGAF. Hopefully someone takes a better quality pic tomorrow from a different angle.

This was on Fox news. Is that a testament to the game or an indictment of Fox News? Either way gotta love those gifts.

The above spelling auto- corrections were brought to you today by the Google Corporation of America.

A local news channel using the FOX name is not the real FOX news...

This would be a cool tool and frankly a no-brainer for Nintendo since such tools already exist and Nintendo gets no cut.  But the problem is that those tools exist and they're free and Nintendo is probably not going to provide as robust of an experience.  But it might appeal to people that do not know that these tools are available.

I wouldn't get it simply because it would likely use crappy NSMB polygons.  I want to use the sprites from SMW and SMAS and Nintendo certainly won't offer that.

I don't care if it uses assets from NSMB, SMB3, or SMW... The point is Nintendo is finally making a level editor, after all these years of hoping and begging.

What system do you think it will be for? Wii U or 3DS? Or maybe it's a cross-platform release like Smash Bros.

I never really cared for user created Mario levels. Big ol' meh for me.

The point is you can create them yourself and share them with other players. Haven't you ever wanted to make your own levels for fun?

It's definitely an eShop game. Hopefully it's for both Wii U and 3DS so all Nintendo fans can get to use it.

If this is an eShop release, it won't be $30. Why do you assume it will be retail? It could be a smaller title like Pushmo, NES Remix, or Dillon's Rolling Western.

For you it may be the greatest rumour but it doesn't strike my fancy at all. I've never really been interested in doing that. I think part of the reason is because I've always been satsified with the level design present in games and Mario platformers in particular that I'm not playing wishing I had the ability to make my own levels. And even if I don't care for a level design, I'm not wishing I had the tools to do it better. I just play it and move on. Same goes for things like Smash Bros. Brawl stages, user created puzzles in Picross, or Civilization fan mods. I'm content with the existing product and have no desire or wish to try and design something worthwhile nor do I feel like going through other fan created content to find something worthwhile or genius.

So I take it you don't like being creative? You've never wanted to create your own levels in a video game?

The gifs are probably the best thing about this game.

Not the gorgeous graphics, insane attention to detail, and overall fun gameplay?

An official Mario level editor? If true, I'll be so ecstatic. I've been wanting Nintendo to do this for decades, and I can't believe it's finally possibly happening! The touchscreens on the 3DS and Gamepad are perfect for this.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Maker confirmed!
« on: June 05, 2014, 06:36:48 PM »
Mario Maker has been confirmed for Wii U. It's a tile-based level editor that uses the Gamepad's touchscreen. You can switch between 8-bit Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. graphics, with more graphics styles and objects planned for the final product. The game is releasing sometime in 2015.

Quote from: GoNintendo
Coming from a USGamer interview with Takashi Tezuka ...

"Obviously, there will be other graphical styles included and nothing's been decided yet, but I'd also like to include other graphics that aren't Mario. No, it won't be top-down (like Zelda) It's always going to be a 2D platformer."

- plans to integrate more enemy and object types
- hopes to include features similar to those of that of Mario Paint
- would like to add a music composition feature
- Tezuku says "sharing with friends is really the whole point of making levels"
- details on sharing have not been made public

Sony doesn't have to directly compete with other manufacturers selling Vitas with SD card slots. Proprietary memory cards are a lot easier to sell for proprietary hardware.

Yet PS4 and Wii U use normal hard drives, and 3DS uses normal SD cards. Those devices are still proprietary.

How are players supposed to get excited about games that just show CGI trailers? What happened to showing actual gameplay and graphics?

It's truly a shame that Ed Boon doesn't want my money. Whatevs.

Ed Boon doesn't own Warner Bros.

It's his game. He created the series, so yes essentially the money goes to him and his team.

I've had a Wii U since January, and I'm getting MK8 next week. Finally! I can't wait for E3.

Nintendo Gaming / Luigi's Ridin' Dirty

So all over the internet I've been seeing this new "Luigi Death Stare" meme that features Luigi glaring menacingly at other racers. The slow-mo videos are usually set to Chamillionaire's "Ridin' Dirty" rap song.

Sony has the advantage over Microsoft because they let users easily replace the hard drives in the PS3 and PS4, while Microsoft forces users to buy a proprietary hard drive that only works with the Xbox 360.

But then Sony had to **** all that up by using proprietary memory cards in the Vita, when they could have easily used normal SD cards like Nintendo and the rest of the mobile industry.

General Gaming / Xbox 360 hard drive question
« on: April 24, 2014, 01:37:54 PM »
Did Microsoft make a mistake by using a proprietary hard drive in the Xbox 360? Sony and Nintendo let you use your own hard drives on the PS3, PS4, and Wii U. It would have been so much easier if Microsoft had done the same.

Going proprietary is always a bad idea. Why use proprietary memory cards in the Vita when the competition uses normal SD cards? Why use proprietary hard drives in the Xbox 360 when the competition uses normal hard drives?

- Have automatic recording in the background like on PS4. I hate having to manually snap the Game DVR app every time I want to record my game.

- Fix the slooooooow upload speeds when using the Upload app. It should not take over 10 minutes to upload a 5 minute clip.

- Increase total recording time to 15 minutes.

General Gaming / Xbox One selling worse than Wii U?
« on: March 29, 2014, 02:59:11 PM »
I've been reading rumors that the Xbox One is selling worse than the Wii U. If that's true, then how is it getting more third-party support than Nintendo? Industry bias confirmed?

How is the Wii U's browser faster and more efficient than the PS4's, despite the face that the Wii U is much less powerful and has less RAM?

What sort of magic did Nintendo use?

Nintendo shouldn't have to make a custom emulator for each individual game. That takes too much effort. It would be much easier to do it the PC way, create a system-based emulator that can run the games properly and release all the games in one big chunk.

General Gaming / Are Android consoles part of the 8th generation?

Are Android consoles like the OUYA, NVIDIA Shield, GameStick, etc. part of the 8th generation of consoles (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U)?
