well we just got 2 dsi's about a week ago and im liking them quite a bit so far. but for some reason when trying to play tetris ds i am unable to connect to my wifi. i have it set on wap2, which the dsl wouldnt connect to, but the dsi will as the store and internet browser work fine. the game simply says that the nintendo ds doesnt support the security settings.....but i am not playing on a ds or dsl. does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to work, or is this a problem in the way the game is made? any help would be appreciated.

Nintendo Gaming / portable wii
« on: January 25, 2007, 12:23:07 PM »
something kind of neat that i found(i didnt see any other threads about this). a portable wii. i dont know how well it would actually work, but it looks pretty cool for being homemade.

An exert from the page:

Quick specs, this unit has a built-in close-range sensor bar, stereo sound, Gamecube port, 16:9 widescreen LCD, A/V jacks, port for external stock sensor bar, built-in power supply and even a compartment for the cord. It measures 8.6" wide, 7.7" long and 2" total thickness.

and the site:

http://www.benheck.com/

just scroll down the page a bit for the pictures(and a making of).

edit: it actually seems to work pretty well. the site has a link to a video of the unit in action.

i actually had no idea that you could actually play the wii they have on display at my local eb games. i didnt see a controller so just assumed that the system itself was just on display for some strange reason(there was no sign informing people of the ability to get a controller to use). there definately needs to be some sort of better solution to allow people to actually experience what the system can do.

thats a really good idea, and would definately attract some attention. it would get the idea of wii, and what the remote does across perfectly.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo DS lite Fall 2006 Catalog
« on: October 10, 2006, 03:45:22 AM »
i just picked one of these up at wal-mart the other day. its actually really nice, although i would have liked to have seen bigger screenshots for the games(theres lots of room on the pages, they could of went full size screenshots).

strangely enough, there is no mention of phantom hourglass in it. i'm not sure what the release date for the game is though...it is a fall catalog.

TalkBack / RE:REVIEWS: Final Fantasy III
« on: September 20, 2006, 03:21:31 AM »
this is interesting......sure dated gameplay is a con to the game, but it is impossible to change some of the aspects of the gameplay without completely changing the game itself. by changing the battle system for instance, you might as well go and create a new final fantasy. much like the story(although it seems like it could have still been cleaned up a little from some of your comments about it). i guess it really depends on how square intends to market this game...if they market it as a 16 year old game with prettier graphics, noone should really be dissapointed with what they get. at its core, it IS still a 16 year old game.

hopefully square takes the graphics engine they used for this game and creates a new final fantasy for the ds.

optional 3-d glasses?

that could be.....interesting.

well here's a quote from a response in the latest egm mailbag:

"Most third parties apparently don't have access to the SD card bay yet, just as Nintendo has yet to provide libraries for online support. "

the big thing i notice it that it says "most", so i wouldnt completely rule out online play for some third party titles(especially a massive wii supporter like ubisoft).

TalkBack / RE:Ubisoft Announces Seven Wii Launch Titles
« on: August 04, 2006, 03:38:45 AM »
this actually kind of seems like a bad thing for ubisoft to do. it isnt that i dont like to see the support for wii, but 7 launch day games? you're pushing 7 games on a limited user base and competing against some of nintendos own launch titles(and red steel, a ubisoft game game that has recieved quite a bit of hype), and other third party offerings. how many copies of each game do they expect to sell? maybe ubisoft knows something we dont, and nintendo is shipping out 3 million systems at launch or something. i know that the wii is cheap to develop for, but it just seems strange.

the idea of using the headset in gameplay is a great one, and one that i really have no doubt that nintendo is proabaly looking into(not that i ever thought of it before reading of the idea here). the sensor bar still seems to me like it would HAVE to be there for the pointer aspect of the wii controller to function, but i dont claim to have much technical knowledge..... so saying that i wont comment on the specs part of that post.

am i the only one who this link doesnt seem to work for? it could just be the crap computer i use at work, but could someone please give me another site to find some more info about this game. i find it strange that i havent seen this game metioned on any of the "major" gaming sites. after reading the discussion taking place about the game, i would like to check out some screenshots or something.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:No MWii pages up, friend code(s?) confirmed
« on: July 19, 2006, 04:10:39 PM »
there is only one option for not having friend codes that i can see....and most people probably wont like the idea. i myself hate friend codes....so,

have two services like xbox live. make one free like xbox silver, and charge for another forcing payment to be made with a credit card. they would have to add something to the service to make it worthwhile(since online play should still be free for all), but include some virtual console games in the price, voice chat with whoever you choose, maybe some chat rooms and some other things that i'm not thinking of. if parents are giving out their credit cards to their kids without asking what its for, thats their fault.

edit: i see this idea was already mentioned, but its still a good idea in my opinion.

I dont usually post sales info, but heres the UK game charts for 6/25/06 to 7/01/06. No actual number of units sold unfortunately, but it would seem that the ds is doing fairly well in the UK.

4   Dr Kawashima's Brain Training,   DS

after recently picking up the ds version of trauma center(which seems to be available in stores again, at least every eb i go too), i'm definately going to pick this up for wii. i can only imagine how difficult it will be with the added worry of cutting too deep.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii Online: Get your friend codes ready
« on: May 11, 2006, 03:08:36 PM »
there has to be some better way for nintendo to implement some kind of security for minors then these stupid friend codes. i understand this is going to be a free service, but nintendo obviously needs to spend some more time on it. i've yet to go online with my ds becouse i dont know anyone else with a ds, and i have no desire to play against someone that nintendo randomly picks for me (at least thats the way i understand that it works).

i also have to agree that parents should monitor what their kids are doing online.

is this actually a sequal to diddy kong racing(it definately appears to be, it just doesnt make any sense to me)? doesnt nintendo own diddy kong? nintendo gave their license out to microsoft? this is just weird..... but oh well, i loved dkr!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Sony half-assed ripped off Nintendo
« on: May 09, 2006, 03:46:36 AM »
i think its almost a good thing. for he current industry leader to basically copy nintendo shows nintendo is onto something. the really good thing is that half-assed is the right word. their controller is nowhere near as versatile as nintendos, and doesnt allow for even close to the amount of gameplay possibilites.
