I've now rolled credits on Pokopia, so I can start focusing on new games soon. Since I finished this during August then I'm still gonna count it. For some reason, I was expecting this to be a lot more akin to Dragon Quest Builders than it actually is, which is disappointing to me, personally. I'm not so sure that I'm going to back to finish building the habitats for the rest of the Monz; I wanted more areas to explore.

Hey all, long-time lurker, first-time (in ages) poster. Can I get in on this? :D I'm making an attempt to complete OG Hollow Knight. I played it long ago but never quite finished it. I'd like to get through all of it including the DLC if possible.
It's nice to see that my number-one fan has finally returned!

Nintendo Gaming / Switch 2 or OLED
« Last post by mattcowell on Today at 05:38:40 AM »
Hey everyone, I'm Matthew. I've been using the original Nintendo Switch since around 2019, and it's been my main console for years. I've played a ridiculous amount of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Splatoon 3 on it, so I've definitely gotten my money's worth.
Lately, though, I've started thinking seriously about upgrading. The main thing that pushed me toward it was playing Tears of the Kingdom again recently. When I'm exploring larger areas or moving quickly between locations, I've noticed the occasional slowdown, and my old Switch's battery also doesn't last nearly as long as it used to. I had one session where I was halfway through a shrine hunt and got the low-battery warning much earlier than expected.
I'm now stuck between getting a Switch OLED or going for the newer Switch 2. The OLED is obviously cheaper and would give me a much nicer screen, especially since I play handheld a lot, but I'm wondering if I'd regret not just spending more on the Switch 2.
For anyone who's made the jump, what would you recommend? Is the Switch 2 worth the extra money if my main games are Zelda, Mario Kart, and Splatoon, or would the OLED still be a good upgrade from the original Switch?

I'm digging learning about these games everyone is playing, lots of which I haven't heard of before!

Only problem, as a dad to a 6- and 8-year old—time. Where can I get more of this again?

Well, awesome. Sign me up for Hollow Knight! I'll post some gameplay updates later. :)

Add one more to the pile for me. I wrapped things up with Rhythm Heaven Groove on Switch yesterday. The game has quite a lot going on with single player, multiplayer, and various side modes. I focused on the single player content which is comprised of 16 stages, each of which has 5 levels (4 regular and 1 remix). It is usually easy to clear a level with the "Okay" rating. If you do well enough you can get a medal for a higher "Superb" rating. Later, these superb levels open up opportunities for a perfect run which unlocks a new rhythm game. Of the 80 levels I got 47 medals. Overall this felt harder than Rhythm Heaven Fever on Wii where I got a medal on all but one level. I did try to self-monitor and if a game stopped being fun I stopped playing it.
The credits are shown after clearing stage 6, which is only about 3 hours in. I played for about 9 hours to clear stage 16. I would like to come back and try the multiplayer and some of the other side modes. Definitely recommended for fans of the series.

Sorry about the TV pic, I could not get the image sent to my smartphone from the switch.

I 100%'d Silksong earlier this year, including steel soul/heart, and had a great time doing it, so feel like it's time to check the original off the list.

I don't know... Someone being such a big fan of Mop it up seems like a giant red flag.... But I guess if you're also a raging alcoholic that it sort of balances things out.

Sooooo...

;D I feel like I came back to the site once after another of my long disappearances and found that had been updated for me. Kind souls out there, I don't deserve them.

P.S. – Nice to see lots of familiar faces still :D

Every so often I will find an old talkback comment of mine on an old NWR review or something and cringe.

Really digging the 60fps on Switch 2 and the deeper Franchise changes—especially those contract negotiation moments. If the defense logic feels as improved as they say, this could finally be the Madden I enjoy playing more than just simming.
