Getting all the Blue Coins and seeing the one extra thing you get for getting all 120 Shines will forever taint my Super Mario Sunshine memories. The frustration, the disappointment. Things I don't need to revisit.

Wonderful sense of place with Sunshine, though. I'll always appreciate that.

One 100% a game is never a requirement...although some may say we desire it.

Watching the gameplay video I have to admit, the game looks boring.  The giant battle had you just attack and dodge, attack and dodge. There was no real dynamic feel to the combat.  There was no excitement to the swing and attack or fear from the attack of the monster.

I like what you are doing, and following the model of 2D side scrolling battles but it needs to be more dynamic that it is right now.

I think the Wonder Boy series is kinda an influence as well or should be.

Discord, thanks for that.  It means a lot.
I don't want anyone to feel guilty or pressure.  I was just excited for her.

Khushrenda, I like that idea, because it helps promote community.  When I have found out that some of our members are writing game reviews, learning how to create video games in the industry, or are already in the industry I have found it interesting and I want to know more about what they do. A place that we can could link and find content that our friends would create would be interesting.

So my wife decided to try writing a book and make it a hobby career.  This has been a dream of hers for awhile but she never thought she would be ready to do it.  Well she finished her first 2 books.  One is free and the other is an Indie published Ebook.  The story is a young adult dystopian story that focuses on being an immigrant.  My wife and I have been expats living in South Korea for over 10 years and she brings her life experience of living in a foreign culture and not knowing the language into the heart of her story and really wants to press the idea that just because someone does seem to fit in with your society doesn't mean they are incompetent...it means they are different.  In their society they may have been something brilliant.  Anyway here is the synopsis of the story.

They said that the world had ended and the Dome was the only way. They lied.

Amia Risk believes two things with her whole heart. One, the world ended in nuclear war about a hundred years ago. And two, the only thing protecting her from the radioactive wasteland outside is the Dome. But a chance encounter with a revolutionary leads her to believe there may be more to the Dome’s history than she previously believe.

Armed with this new knowledge, she sets out on a path that will put her at direct odds with the despotic Dome government.

But when the Dome actually comes down, she finds herself an unwanted refugee in the small Virginian town of Wytheville. Now, she must create a new life and identity for herself in a world full of dangers and technologies that she cannot understand. Most importantly, she must hide her past involvement the revolution as it is now the target of the American government. Should the Dome government find her, not only Amia, but all of the revolution will be in grave danger.

Can Amia restart her life without getting captured? Or will she be forced to fight not only the Dome but American governments to keep the revolution safe?

Find out in book 1 of the Sammy Silvertooth’s Guide to Revolution Series, The Moxy Byrd.

The book is free and if you are interested check it out.  If you aren't that is OK.  We are still exploring and trying to figure out the demographic for the book.  She believes her voice may be stronger with a female audience, as her sci-fi is a lighter more action-y sci-fi.  The book isn't a traditional Young Adult novel that has characters all aged as teenagers to fit the audience, but follows the story of various aged characters throughout the series.

Thanks for your consideration.

So, before posting this I decided to look at the rules to see if this is OK.

NintendoWorldReport forums have been my friends and community for years, so writing to you and saying, hey my wife did a thing...and if you are interested in the thing...check it out.  If not.  Cool ignore the thing.  should be fine.  I also decided that hey, other people are creative and other people do things too, so why not make this a thread that we can support each other and help each other.  Seems like a pretty cool thing to do, and we might become inspired by each other and or find a cool thing we might never know we would be interested in.

So with that, I am starting this thread.  Please post your things, and also if you are interested check out my wife's thing.

Thanks for testing that.  I downloaded the new Google Search App.  I didn't know at first it was in the Google Search App and thought it was a new product called Google Hum and was frustrated I couldn't find it.  Ha.

I think Nintendo is testing a new business model to celebrate their past games and make false demand.  The fact is, this game would not have the same demand and success if it was released into the wild.  You are basically buying an old inferior game of a series that has updated itself and has had much better releases.  Historical significance aside there is no real good reason to play this game.

That said, making it limited edition will make people feel the need to buy it or miss out.

This is basically my opinion or the original NES Metroid.  It is an important game for the franchise, but it isn't a good game.  It is a pretty broken game.

General Chat / Re: Um, Apple thread

Yes, this seems like one of those, look we are doing a good thing, without weighing in the unintended consequences.  Apple is kinda good/bad at doing this.  Getting rid of the headphone jack caused a new market of headphones, which can't be good for the environment.  Now this.  I get wanting to save the environment, but if this was my first apple product or first handphone it would turn me away that I couldn't charge it easily outside the box without another purchase.

Movies & TV / Re: Disney+

Disney+ needs to release a big new movie or new project every month that people want to see...if it is series that will last a few months then maybe not a new thing every month.  But, Get that family or person unwilling to cancel because the next thing is about to release right on renewal day.

I remember reading guides on those stars.  If I remember there is one level that has like 104 or 105 coins only, and you have to do a perfect run.  Others you had to know which Star to select to open things up to give you a chance.

They were fun challenges (much better than say the Sunshine Blue Coins). I don't need to 100% a game anymore, so I wouldn't bother with those 100 coin stars today.

Now, I remember the camera being bad, but I also remember it only being a problem on a few stars and only 3 levels.  The Rainbow Road level was horrible.  The TickTock Clock Level also.  But you know, since I don't care anymore if I 100% a game I think Mario 64 will still be a great experience.

112
Yeah, I've been grinding through the last stars in the Switch version and its been a lesson in patience and fury. Maybe its using a joycon that is the problem, but everything just missed the mark on fine control. The camera was much harder to manage, and moving while the camera auto adjusted led to a lot of falls and mistakes. I'n down to just two Rainbow Ride stars and the final Bowser star before I beat the game and I'm surprised to say the ending can't come any sooner.

How much does the DS Mario 64 go for because I may pick that up for a later play through since I never got to experience the extra content?

I played my friends Super Mario 3D All Stars and immediately felt the same thing.  The Joycons are a horrible horrible controller.  It is the worst controller Nintendo has ever made, and Nintendo needs to move away from it fast.  I hope Nintendo will go back to a full sized D-Pad and a full sized Gamecube Analog Stick.  And Buttons should be bigger.  I know the controllers would become bigger but they are too small for adult hands already.

I do think that a Super Mario 64 upgrade would be wise.  Just give us a good camera, add in the wall slide maneuver and then give us the extra stars and characters as a bonus after beating the game originally...like they did in Super Mario Odyssey.

113
After seeing all the work and interesting gameplay they added to Steve, I am excited.  This character and MinMin show there is a lot that can be done in this game to make the game really cool, and a new character fresh.  I hope the character is balanced well, because it seems there are many tricks and elements he can do that can break the game balance.

I am sad Bomberman is just an assist trophy and now a Mii Costume, as I still believe he could have had a very unique gameplay gimmick.  Oh well.

114
I find it exciting that Nintendo got this character, but I am also not that interested.  I will of course play the character, but I kinda wished they did something to make him look less ugly.  I get his design is simple, but this character is butt ugly and clashes with every aspect of this beautiful game...and this a game that is famous for blending styles and things that should clash working together.

115
I kinda wish this game got the Fire Emblem or even dare I say...Mario vs. Rabbids strategy game treatment.

As an action game it takes some of the elements of the original game way.  Each enemy encounter in Breath of the Wild could kill you...if you were not prepared.  Everything was dangerous.  This game now throws so many enemies at you it loses its impact.

I get that this is a different style game...but it is just seems off to me.

116
I hoping he is able to figure a way to make the 2 part movie he envisioned...tell the Justice League story he wanted to tell and we can put a bow on the beginning of the DC cinematic universe without having to pretend it didn't exist, because some stuff worked.  Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Superman.  I am also looking forward to see all the stupid stuff that gets cut from the original release.  I think there is a good story somewhere in there.

117
So, question for those that have the game.  Are you happy with the experience?  I really want to play Super Mario 64 again...but I also have literally beaten that game over 10 times, and can't justify the price tag.  But Galaxy is great too.

TalkBack / Re: Kirby Fighters 2 Out Now, Brings More Kirby Combat
« on: September 24, 2020, 07:08:04 AM »
This looks like that Free to Play Kirby Game, but with more content and perhaps better...but still doesn't look that exciting.  Am I missing something?  It is a budget Title for Nintendo being priced at $19.99 but still seems too much.

119
This should be fun...Launch March 2022 I would want to focus on different gaming experiences for the launch.  The first phase is multiplayer games:

Launch Line Up
Splatoon 3 (This game should focus on having a real 3D person adventure game...as well as multiplayer)
Super Nintendo Kart
NEW IP GAME

Launch Line Up will be supplemented with fully functional Nintendo Online Virtual Consoles Including NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube.  Games will be upgraded texture work to help upscale the experience...so it won't just be emulation.

Summer and Fall Releases: (These releases need to fill in the holes for Genres and be interesting)
An RPG/Strategy focused game:  Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Game, Earthbound, or Advanced Wars)
Classic IP: A Kirby Game or other B level Nintendo IP
A Big Party Game:  Nintendo Party or Wii Sports type game

Big Christmas Game:
Super Mario Galatic Odyssey.  This game would take the ideas of Galaxy and Odyssey and smash them together.  But the big innovative thing I would make is a Mario Multiplayer Star hunt.  Have players running around finding Stars pop up on the map and carry them back to there base to score. Single player and team modes could be played.

Summer Game: Super Smash Bros. Ultra Ultimate Edition

Christmas Year 2:  Zelda

Banned the original poster because it was a spambot that copied the opening post of this Reddit thread. However, I've got nothing against the topic so I guess I'll let Spak-Spang's first reply become the topic starter for this conversation now instead. Except the first reply in the Reddit thread was also SMB/Duck Hunt..... Hmmmm. Is there something you've been meaning to tell us Spaky?

I came back and saw I started this thread but didn’t remember doing it. Now I understand. I should ask another question

Captain America being Falcon is good.  It seems natural and already set up.  I kinda hope they keep the name Falcon, but I will respect that.  Iron Heart needs to be done, but I just hope they give it time first.  Let the newish old Avengers have a Limelight for awhile.  I mean we are going to get a New Black Widow probably (I am excited) A New Hawkeye, A She-Hulk.  So that is 4 of the original Avengers having new incarnations.  We will see what happens with Thor 4, but I don't think we will have Jane Foster as Thor for very long.  So I am not going to say she is the default new version of Thor.

I think if they introduce Iron Heart, a cool movie plot would be War Machine vs. Iron Man...and have James Rhodes be a Iron Man-sized War Machine...with Iron Man colors and everything, and see the suit used in more military like patriotic missions, a puppet of the US military...and then Riri Williams comes with her Iron Man and reminds James what it is like to be a hero fighting for everyone, not just the government.

122
Well, She Hulk hasn't. always been permanently green, and they are going to have to do some sort of origin story.  I really She-Hulk's blood transfusion origin.  It makes for a simple premise that makes enough scientific since to be believable.  What is really great is it also makes sense that She Hulk would come around after Smart Hulk, because Banner could perfect the serum and process more.

Finally, I really hope this means that she will be the default Hulk in the upcoming MCU.  I think having a new versions of classic characters is a great way to do something different and move forward.  I hope they do not try to replace Iron Man or Captain America though.  I think for the time being let those 2 iconic characters stay retired.

TalkBack / Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars (Switch) Review
« on: September 16, 2020, 08:14:53 PM »
Mr. Bungle I don't think it does at this point, but who knows it might get a patch.

I am really torn about this game.  I love Super Mario 64, it is in my top favorite games.  But I have beaten it countless times on Nintendo 64 and on Wii VC.  I really wanted to true remake, but I respect this release was about preserving history and celebrating Mario not a new game.

I also get why Nintendo may never revisit and remaster Super Mario 64...the game is brilliant but it is also a game filled with limitations of the time.  But I think they could easily remaster Super Mario 64 and add some content to the games.  Add levels, and add new stars to each level.  All this would make for an awesome game...but that isn't what a celebration package should be about.

124
NWR:  Exactly.  And so I think this will be released with the Switch 2.  I think the Switch 2 will be new system not a pro upgrade...but it will play all the old games.  I think Nintendo has learned its lessons and this will be the model they use.  Maybe an upgraded system every 5-4 years at the earliest.  Anyway the Switch was a great System but it could easily be improved upon.  First make the controllers bigger and give them a more comfortable design.  Bigger regular sized buttons and a better Analog Stick.  What I would like to see is a mechanism that could Lock the Analog Stick into a Arcade Stick mode for Virtual console games and such.  But that is just a personal thing.

Then I would like to see both controllers get equal parts inside, Camera, full motion control support on par with Wiimote + if possible.  And if it is possible...a way for these new controllers to be backwards compatible with the Switch.  I understand it won't be perfect, but anything would do.

125
That is true, but it could be possible to play with an additional Switch Controller with pointer controls.  Which is why I think it could easily be placed on the Switch Virtual Console.  But honestly, I don't see Wii Virtual Console coming for awhile.  I think it won't hit until Switch 2 happens...and I expect Switch 2 to have new controllers that fix the Switch Controllers problems.
