I was just over at youtube checking out some of the videos for the upcoming 3D battler. It looks fantastic by the way! But my main concern isn't the visuals or anything. Truthfully, I'm concerned about the amount of content in this game and if it actually warrants spending the full 50.

In my honest opinion, Pokemon Stadium 2 was the cream of the crop. It wasn't just a visual upgrade on the N64, but it offered so much more! The prizes were intense (Cyndaquills Chikoritas, come on!) There were a slew a cups, and the Gym Leader Castle which was also intense. This is probably why Colosseum lacked that genuine feeling.

Back on topic, I was checking out Wikipedia (though nothing is 100% true) and the only mode that I saw was the colosseum battles against I suppose a CPU of some sort. If this is the case, I reiterate my question. Is PBR really worth it if it lacks all that Stadium 2 was known for? You know?

The Stadium series wipes the floor with anything that Nintendo has put on console for Pokemon to date. No exceptions. Which is really really sad.

I hope it is more then Colosseum battles. Or else the game will become very repetitive quickly.

The only real awesome 'feature' of this game that makes me want it is the random online battle feature. Which, IMHO, should have been on the DS version.

Considering how rampant hacking is (Wonder Gaurd Spiritombs, etc), I'm not sure I would really want to play the game online with "random" people.

Nintendo has started banning people who use action replays in their game from using WiFi. I agree with Pokemon Stadium 2 being the best, along with being an awesome battle game with every single Pokemon freely available already with movesets, it also had cool mini games.

Battle Rev seems to at least attempt to fix the console franchise by getting rid of that awful RPG mode and just focusing on battling. However it seems really rushed, as it was pretty much a Japanese Wii launch title. It will be worth it for me just to battle my Pokemon in more epic style, but most non-hardcore Pokemon fans probably wont think its worth it. It depends, I haven't seen what it fully offers yet, thanks to crappy media previews.

@Shecky: I was thinking the same thing.

@Arbok: Maybe but after playing Planet Puzzle League I would at LEAST like the option to play against random people. Random battle in PPL is so much fun and TBH it would add a lot to the pokemon game if it had such an option. Not everyone hacks =)

Just thought I would like to add . . .

Why doesn't nintendo take the opportunity (I mean charing 50 dollars for the game and all) to make Battle Rev the first "online" pokemon game with leader boards or a scoring system or something. Nintendo should REALLY start capitalizing on the online possibilities with Pokemon . . . if not in the form of an MMO then with some structured battle league to make competing against others seem all the more awesome.

Its worth it for me because its because of the stadium style games that I learn almost every trick in the world about pokemon first hand. Befor Stadium one, I never knew the value of thunder wave, amnesia, leech seed, or wrap.

This is how I prepare myself against most everything.

Word. Before Stadium 2, I knew nothing of physical and special attacks and all of that. That entire lecture hall was so sooooo useful!

I'll eventually get PBR, but I sincerly hope there is more depth to the game than that.

EDIT: I just went over and read the preview. Though it lacks the minigames, it seems as so they'll have tournament cups a la Stadium 2 and will offer special prizes. Awsomeness! As long as there is a PC to organize the pokey mans, I'll be 100% satisfied. I'll be getting this regardless of the review!

Is it worth it? I'm new to the Pokemon gaming scene. I never really bought anything Pokemon until Diamond and Pearl. I've invested in headsets, 2 DS's, both copies...and now I'm going to pick up PBR. Looks like it doesn't matter for me at this point...I invested time to get myself and my Wii online...and to take friends codes and kick ass!!!

Hmmm...I like that...taking friends codes and kicking ass!...HAH!...I made another funny!!!...and now I'm laughing at my own joke...MUA HA HA HA HA!!!

^lol you bring up a good point. I've been into series since the orignal, have bought two transfer paks, bought a slew of different colored Pokemon games and here I am at age 20 still playing the same franchise! I say thats its totally worth, because I did end up buying Colosseum afterall, why stop there?

Oh I agree fully there. The first (or second in Japan) Stadium definitely improved my skills in the game, and taught me the power of a Magneton running Thunder Wave, Double Team and Supersonic. Or really just the usefulness of Double Team in general, which I totally overlooked in the Red/Blue days.

However, with the Battle Tower around now, its use for that seems... fairly limited.

Back during my Pokemon fanatic stage I thought Pokemon Stadium was a fantastic, if only because it was great seeing your characters in 3D. I spent day and night battling all the gym leaders, beating all the cups and even beating Mewtwo. Pokemon Stadium 2 was just as good, even if the computer cheated on occasion.

But now that my massive Pokemon fandom is nearly dead (I still like Pokemon, i just don't pay attention to it as much as I did back in the day), I could care less about the Stadium game. I just wish they get worked on a real Pokemon game for the consoles, not just spin offs or tacked on adventures in Battle simulators.

Battle Revolution looks neat, but like I said, my interest on it is nearly diminished.

It's just a fad.

Nintendo has the DS now, so they don't need Pokermawn as a cash cow.

Nintendo should've been working on original projects and canning others.

Hey all. I just wanted to throw in here that it sucks that I didn't get an early copy of the game to do a review. I will be getting it tomorrow and I hope to have the review up ASAP, so an NWR review is coming if you want to wait before shelling out the money for it.
