In my honest opinion, Pokemon Stadium 2 was the cream of the crop. It wasn't just a visual upgrade on the N64, but it offered so much more! The prizes were intense (Cyndaquills Chikoritas, come on!) There were a slew a cups, and the Gym Leader Castle which was also intense. This is probably why Colosseum lacked that genuine feeling.
Back on topic, I was checking out Wikipedia (though nothing is 100% true) and the only mode that I saw was the colosseum battles against I suppose a CPU of some sort. If this is the case, I reiterate my question. Is PBR really worth it if it lacks all that Stadium 2 was known for? You know?

Battle Rev seems to at least attempt to fix the console franchise by getting rid of that awful RPG mode and just focusing on battling. However it seems really rushed, as it was pretty much a Japanese Wii launch title. It will be worth it for me just to battle my Pokemon in more epic style, but most non-hardcore Pokemon fans probably wont think its worth it. It depends, I haven't seen what it fully offers yet, thanks to crappy media previews.

@Arbok: Maybe but after playing Planet Puzzle League I would at LEAST like the option to play against random people. Random battle in PPL is so much fun and TBH it would add a lot to the pokemon game if it had such an option. Not everyone hacks =)
Just thought I would like to add . . .
Why doesn't nintendo take the opportunity (I mean charing 50 dollars for the game and all) to make Battle Rev the first "online" pokemon game with leader boards or a scoring system or something. Nintendo should REALLY start capitalizing on the online possibilities with Pokemon . . . if not in the form of an MMO then with some structured battle league to make competing against others seem all the more awesome.

I'll eventually get PBR, but I sincerly hope there is more depth to the game than that.
EDIT: I just went over and read the preview. Though it lacks the minigames, it seems as so they'll have tournament cups a la Stadium 2 and will offer special prizes. Awsomeness! As long as there is a PC to organize the pokey mans, I'll be 100% satisfied. I'll be getting this regardless of the review!

Oh I agree fully there. The first (or second in Japan) Stadium definitely improved my skills in the game, and taught me the power of a Magneton running Thunder Wave, Double Team and Supersonic. Or really just the usefulness of Double Team in general, which I totally overlooked in the Red/Blue days.
However, with the Battle Tower around now, its use for that seems... fairly limited.

But now that my massive Pokemon fandom is nearly dead (I still like Pokemon, i just don't pay attention to it as much as I did back in the day), I could care less about the Stadium game. I just wish they get worked on a real Pokemon game for the consoles, not just spin offs or tacked on adventures in Battle simulators.
Battle Revolution looks neat, but like I said, my interest on it is nearly diminished.

Nintendo has the DS now, so they don't need Pokermawn as a cash cow.

Take a look at the Monster Rancher series. Thats what I want. MR3 if cell shading and MR4 if not. My PS2 broke so I haven't been able to play the newest version yet... Though I wish that Tecmo make one for Wii.

I bought this game the day it came out, and I seriously feel like I was hoodwinked by Nintendo. It's lacking features that even the original Stadium had.
I was a big fan of Pokemon Stadium b/c of the mode that let you play the R/B/Y games in triple speed.
Stadium 2 was great b/c it had all those minigames, and again the gameboy player.
Coliseum had the pokemon that you couldn't catch in the GBA games so you could transfer them back to your GBA cart, as well as the single player story and questline.
Now, in Battle Revolution, you get none of that. You can copy your pokemon to your wii and battle with them there, but that's it. Nothing transfers back to or affects your DS game in any way. You can't earn XP and move them back, your battle record on the DS is completely separate, and there are no pokemon to catch on BR to take back to your DS game. In short, PBR has very little to offer other than making yourself a semi-customizable avatar and playing random wi-fi battles.

It's fun for me - I finished the game, what's left? Why EV train? Why IV train? Compete. It's fun to beat up your friends, but it's also fun to compete online.

Oh really? There's nothing I saw in the manual or in the tutorials that indicated that this was the case. I'll believe you, but they didn't do a very good job of selling the game on its own merits.

Now when I look back at my 2 hours of playing the game...my initial reaction wasn't all that positive...and I just started with Pokemon by buying both Diamond and Pearl. The handhelds were great, but this should only compliment it with a price tag of $20.00. I'm a bit sad...but hey...maybe I need to spend more time with it...who knows???
