hi, I just recently read that this tales of "mothership" is supossed to be the prequel to tales of symphonia, which is set durign kratos, mithos, yuan and martel's travel. The displayed character is supposed to be a young Kratos aurion.

You do realize that if this doesn't turn out true I'll have to hunt you down and use you as a sex slave, right?  Sorry, there's just no way out of this!

UGH, everyone knows a proper prequel would only focus on Zelos.

I'm excited about ToV coming to the PS3.  It made me seriously consider getting a 360 but I held out on hopes that it would get an enhanced PS3 port.  Now hopefully the game'll make it out of Japan.

Glad to see more info on the new game.  The last couple tales games I've played, (abyss, symphonia 2), seemed rushed and glitchy so I hope the team is able to take their time and flesh everything out before release.

This game is coming out only a year after the latest Tales game was released, by a different team.  Which means we can't count on them learning learning from the mistakes of the last two, building on the strengths of the last two, and we'll just end up with another This Generation Tales Spinoff Game that's notably different from its peers without improvements.

Lack of gameplay details is a bad sign.

Yeah, the USA really doesn't bite the Japanese RPG's anymore (or RPG in general unless you count hybrids like MMO's and Bioshock). DQVIII (great game in case you missed it) sold half million stateside and nearly 4 in japan.

Even Persona 4 didn't even break the 1/4 million mark :(

I love JRPG's myself and I really don't care about the graphics so long as the gameplay and plot hold up.  Hopefully iit no ToS: DNW--bleh.

I know that all the 360 JRPGs bombed, Eternal Sonata for PS3 bombed, ToS:DNW did somewhere between 125k - 170k in North America.

Even in Japan JRPG's are down in sales (it used to be common for RPG's to crack 1 million there, not so anymore). The genre has gotten stale, I remember interviews when Japanese developers where even they admit that and say western developers have adapted and evolved while most Japanese developers just keep doing the same thing over and over and then wondering why their sales are decreasing.

"multiplayer lacking in this new one."

?  Explain that to me?  Tales really doesn't have much in MP options in the past other co-op.  Think in DNW you can have one person play with you but that's it.  There wasn't any online at all (in fact no tales have online mp-- ToV had some leaderboard but that's it)

I don't see you can jump to the conclusion that this won't have that option as well?

The US likes WRPGs just fine (Mass Effect, Fallout 3, KotOR). But fortunately most of the US hates grinding unless it's an MMO, so JRPGs don't do so well.

Some more details
Uses Style Shift Linear Motion Battle system
Allows character to have more than one fighting style
Set skills to A and B button
Sidestep movement allows for 360 degree movement around enemies
Classic/Classic Pro controller support
Animation by Production I.G.

By the looks of things they took DNW's system and added the addition of different fighting styles.
