Any news on NPD sales?  I heard PS3 only sole 187,000 units and PS2 even sold over 200,000 units.

I'm most impressed with the legs that some titles have.  I mean, Mario Kart DS is on both the US and Japanese best seller charts more than a year after release!  I hope some of this rubs off on third party games too.

Okay, so let's see here...

PS3 sales + PSP sales + PS2 sales = a whopping 2156 thousand units sold!

The Wii comes in a close second at 2150k units, but the Playstation family manages to beat it by a mere 6k units! That's gotta really suck for Nintendo, who is no longer the Market leader.

At least the DS is doing well in the handheld market where it is running unopposed at 3040k

Nintendo still has the handheld market at least! But unfortunately, the Playstation Family™ is still number one when it comes to consoles...

DS is destroying hard core gaming!

The DS *IS* hardcore gaming.  It's like the SNES reborn.

I really don't want to get into an argument about how wrong this is based on how subjective the hardcore/casual bullshit "debate" is.  It would be very easy to point out that A) The DS has more girls and women and casuals and grannies playing it than the Wii and B) Nintendo themselves has made a higher portion of of "hardcore" games on the Wii than the DS.  Yet somehow the Wii gets stuck with the label and gets several editorials and posts describing in detail its destruction of everything "hardcore," while the only thing the DS did was endure these very same insults for two additional years.  SNES Reborn is a mighty fine trick for something considered the Virtual Boy Reborn (by EGM, heh) for the first 2 years.

About sales, it's a shame the Wii didn't beat the PS2's record for monthly sales.  And ironically because it's actually selling too damn fast.  I'd say it's pretty much "console war over" right now.
It's time you saw the future while you still have human eyes.

"console war over" implies there ever was a war. Well, okay, there still is a war between MS and Sony. Nintendo wasn't fighting in any war, they just went off and took everything without a fight.

To use an RTS metaphor, MS and Sony are throwing wave after wave at each others' main bases, Nintendo moved its forces out of its own a long time ago and was declared dead for it but now they're grabbing all the expansions MS and Sony haven't taken (or even abandoned) while the other two have almost mined all the resources in their main and spent it on defenses or failed attacks. It's just a matter of time until they realize their situation and punch in "gg".

While technically correct, it has actually been over 3 years since they were released.
