Title: Son of a hoe...My 360 is dead...AGAIN!
Post by: NWR_pap64 on December 15, 2008, 06:18:07 PM
My year old Elite console just got the one red light of dead...

Every I turn it on I get an error message in multiple language and get a "E 73" error code at the bottom. I checked everything and apparently the problem deals with the network adapter. I turned the console on and off, removed everything and connected it again and nothing. Apparently, this isn't big enough to kill your console, but nothing happens.

Gooddammit...I am very upset right now >:( .

It's funny.  When I think about getting another console I take into consideration the PS3 for dependability reasons.  Think about that.  Microsoft's console is so f*cking unreliable that a SONY PLAYSTATION is considered the "safe" choice. ;)

Bummer about your console though, pap.

360 is unreliable

ps3 isn't worth it

i guess it's settled.  Ian is stuck with Wii.

Sorry to hear about your 360.
At least 3 of my friends have had the ring of death appear on their x box in the past month.
I second the motion for buying a gaming PC.  ;)

Say what you will about the PS3, it's a rock-solid piece of machinery.  The 360, on the other hand, is probably the most unreliable mass-market device in the history of consumer electronics.

PS3 also feels like a heavy rock as well!

Pap I'm sorry to break it to you but the extended RROD waranty doesn't apply to E73 issues, did your regular warranty run out?

Guys, first of all enough with the bashing. I didn't create the thread for random bashing or glorifying of console, I did it to vent. I would have been just as upset if my Wii had died or if I had a PS3 it stopped working. I was also hoping to get any information regarding how to fix it or send it to MS for repairs.

So again, don't turn this into a fanboy crapfest because of my misfortune. I've been very upset and having bad luck as of late due to personal and family issues, and this is just a small part of it :\ .

That happened to a friend of mine a few months back.  He was pissed, but MS got his 360 back to him lickity split.  Well, they got a 360 back to him with the quickness.

So, cheer up?  It should be back to you before you know it.

Pap, Like I said the RROD warranty won't apply to the E74 error, is there any way you could verify if your regular 1 year 360 warranty is still valid if so call Microsoft and get it fixed the usual way where they ship you a coffin and you drop it off at a UPS or whatever, if it's not in warranty then you might get charged for it and at that point you might as well get an arcade unit in my opinion.

Well, I called tech support. After registering my console they found out it was still under warranty, so the repair is free. All I have to pay is to send the console to them.

In all honesty, I don't care if it takes a while. As long as its repaired and it doesn't cost me a dime I am more than happy. My nephew will get a 360 (don't worry, I'll register his as soon as he opens the box), so if I need to check anything I'll just pop my hard drive on the console and should be set.

Besides, all the games I asked for this Christmas are for Wii, so I should have something to play. *knocks on wood

Mine just got three red lights and I'm under the warranty I just have to find the dang original faceplate that I put somewhere in my room and I'm sending it out.

You're supposed to send it in *without* a faceplate, as in, none. Send in the system alone - no HDD, no faceplate, no MU, nothing besides the console.

Well, yea but you supposed to have the original one, no *custom* ones. I called them to confirm this. But I already knew all the other stuff I've had to send it in before.

Dammit mine busted today.....turned it on went to the bathroom real quick and heard a loud crackle sound coming from either the TV or 360.  I think I would have been more pissed if it was the TV.  I bought it for my parents for X-Mas ($800).

I haven't played my 360 for about 3 weeks and I just finished buying all the Rock Band instruments for it.......such bad timing.

Seriously, let's take a count.  How many people have had their 360s die?

The first one I bought was DOA (bad hard drive), so that's one.

What, it broke in three months?  =(

Mine's what I guess is a second-generation system, having gotten it the March after the 360's launch date, and it's survived ridiculous gaming sessions of Oblivion, Mass Effect, Tales of Vesperia, and most recently Fable II...Hell, the fact that it survived my 100+ hours of Oblivion was surprising in its own right...

That's what I find funny. The first 360 I owned survive massive Dead Rising and Halo 3 sessions, but died an hour after Call of Duty 4 was inserted.

For the record, I got my 360 in less than two weeks along with a free one month Live account. Its been working smoothly, but I am very careful with it. Right now I have nothing to play on it so its resting till the next game arrives.

Think I would get anything on Ebay for the 360 that survived?

My 360 which I got in May is still humming along just fine, though it's only gotten used during breaks (I left it at home while I went to school all last semester) and I use it lightly all the other times anyway. Keeping the damn thing ventilated is a pain though; have they not done any work on the cooling system in the last 3 years?

Key advice:

- Keep your Wii at an elevated location to avoid sucking up the heavier dust that settles towards the floor.

- Set the Wii lying flat instead of on the stand.  The stand doesn't provide a decent amount of freedom for air intake.

- Disable standby (orange light) mode.  If you're going to leave the Wii running to receive WFC crap, you might as well leave it on so that the fan continues to cool the system.  Standby mode consumes almost as much electro juice as the system powered on anyway.

Well the new 360 update that fixes HDMI issues supposedly causes an RROD on some consoles, I wonder how my console will be effected because my 360 has no HDMI port.

Weird. I never had any sound issues. Must of been a problem with people connecting it through their x.1 sound system.

I dunno, I've never had the system feel warm when I left it on standby (which I've sometimes done for weeks at a time), but leaving it on and active for 18 hours straight makes it pretty toasty, which I always thought was a bad thing. Not sure which mode it was that fried my GCN memory card tho...

The first one died. I sent it to Gamestop and they gave me another, but it too was dead. Finally, my Elite got the RROD (though this was related to the network adapter).

I was too lazy to look further for a proper thread about the subject, so I apologize in advance for using your thread pap64.

My Elite got the 3 red lights of DOOOM!
I'm preparing myself to send it in for free fixing, and I have to do it soon because Forza 3 is coming out soon.
