The great RPG drought of 2016 lasted about, oh, six days?

Giant swords will rain down on the Wii U Virtual Console in North America with the release of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

I don't remember if I already have this on Wii, or if I have to pay full price for this tomorrow. Will find out tomorrow, I guess!

I'm in the same boat. I may have bought it for the wii. I don't remember. My Wii U is looking to be the spot to play Mario.

I got SMB123, lost levels, Mario 64. I'm not sure if I have Mario World or not. A key Mario game I would like to have on there is Mario World 2.

ThePerm, your only option for Yoshi's Island on the Wii U will be Super Mario Advance 3. But that's okay, because it's pretty indistinguishable from Super Mario World 2!

I bought this back on the Wii VC, but I never really played it for some reason.

I havent been interested in buying any VC games on Wii U, besides one or two of the 30 cent ones.

I might get on that!

The screen is zoomed in a bit compared to the original and they don't account for that in the level design which leads to some cheap deaths.

Yeah the GBA version is more frustrating when going for 100% since it's much easier to get hit or miss a collectable you need because of the zoomed in screen.  Several of the hidden levels from the SNES game which were challenging but fair in that game become just pure bullshit on the GBA.

Of course the GBA version is still a great game since the core gameplay and level design of Yoshi's Island is solid and the new GBA exclusive levels are pretty awesome since they were actually designed with the GBA's screen size in mind as well as being made for the hardcore fans.  So if someone wants to get Yoshi's Island on the Virtual Console the GBA version is still a good substitute, just be warned if you want to 100% it you'll be required to do a lot more level memorizing then the original SNES version required.

Question about Yoshi's Island: does the Wii U version correct the performance issue that was experienced when you 'touched fuzzy and got dizzy'? It would get all choppy in the GBA version.

I honestly don't know but the answer is no.

Nintendo barely puts enough effort into releasing their VC games. Nevermind fixing them.

I know that, but I hoped that the original programmers for the GBA port were skilled enough to build the game in a way that it would run better if more resources were provided. This has happened before. Example would be Perfect Dark. When run on a PC the extra ram allowed for a much smoother performance because of its quality engineering.

Nintendo designs it so the experience on VC is as close to the original as possible, flaws and all. They once patched Star Fox 64 on Wii to put back the slowdown from the original N64 version that they'd accidentally fixed in the previous version.
