Silent Hill 3 is probably the best in the story.  Although SIlent Hill 2 comes close thanks to Pyramid Head...

I'll vote for Cloud.  Sephiroth is cool, but I'll vote for the underdog.

Mental case > Girl/guy who takes orders from his/her mom

LMAO.  Oh, that was hilarious!

Honestly, you can't take a joke about Cloud and Sephiroth?  Wow...they're just video game characters.  Some people take this contest WAY too seriously.

Hmm...you call me a fanboy, yet you sound like one yourself.  Geez, man, honestly, somebody who registers at a Nintendo site to bash Nintendo fans needs some time off from his/her computer.

So listen to me...back away from the computer.  Slowly turn it off.  Now go to your front door.  Open it, and step outside.  Yes, yes...don't be worried.   The light shining in your eyes is from a little thing in our universe called the sun.  It does no harm.  Now look around.   You'll see many mysterious things that you haven't seen in your lifetime, but don't be intimidated.  Most of these mysterious things are harmless.  For example, look at the green stuff in front of your house.  Pretty, ain't it?  It's called grass.  But enough of me talking.  Go, young one, enjoy the world and foget this petty contest!

Link is losing...oh man

Last year's champion is losing to some pathetic mental case who has trouble defeating a girl with a giant plastic sword.

Silent Hill 3 is an amazing game indeed.  It's only glaring flaws is that the enemies are ridiculously too easy and the game itself is not very original compared to the first one.
Otherwise, an outstanding game.  Resident Evil 4 has some competition...

Just finished playing Silent Hill 3 and it is a great game...

Honestly, though, the story's about as whacked as can be, but I think I finally figured out much of it.  Especially the origins of Pyramid Head and Valtiel...

So...discuss about the series.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why is GCN considered to be a failure?
« on: August 15, 2003, 05:42:37 AM »
I remember one thing Nintendo saidis that they are planning to have sold (or ship, I'm not sure) 50 million Gamecubes by the end of the Gamecube's life span.  If they plan to sell that much, good luck breaking half of that, Nintendo.  It sucks to see such a good system be dwarfed by another system...

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why is GCN considered to be a failure?
« on: August 13, 2003, 06:55:56 AM »
We're talking about the Gamecube here, not Nintendo itself.  One person brought up a very good point that Nintendo may have a good amount of market share, but most of that is attributed to the GBA.

I don't consider the Gamecube a failure, but I don't consider it a success by a long shot.  It'll be a while before I start to consider it a failure.  For me, the Gamecube so far just fixes up N64's major errors, such as the cartridge format and development difficulty.  However, they haven't done much to change their image.  RESIDENT EVIL IS NOT ENOUGH, NINTENDO!  They are making better relationships between third-parties, but we would see the better results of this come in the next-generation.  Market-wise, what happened?  Nintendo and their ads have ended up hurting the Gamecube more than anything else.

Games-wise, it's up to opinion.  We cannot call a console a failure just because of its game because it is all opinion.  This is what I ultimately judge a console by and I've been a little disappointed with the Gamecube...lot of these games don't thrill me the same way they did on the N64.   Super Mario Sunshine didn't match up to Mario 64.  The Wind Waker is the worst Zelda yet IMO.  Despite having more games, it seems like the N64 has a better library.  However, the GCN has 2-3 years left and it still has great games coming out soon...

Man, I would so like to add my thoughts on what Nintendo should do to correct this, but eh...I would be rambling like a baboon then...if I wasn't already.

A couple days ago, I decided to go to the local blockbuster and see if I could rent a game, only to find that the PS2 mostly dominates the video game section. Anyway, the Xbox and GCN each get only one shelf.  Well, at least the GCN is on par with the X-box here, right?  Nope.  The X-box gets the shelf in a nice-well-lit space.  The GCN shelf happens to be in a dark corner, and it doesn't even have the whole shelf to itself.  One part of the shelf actually belongs to the PSX section...

Then yesterday, I decide to head to Sears.  After I scope out the electronics department, I decide to pay the video game section a visit...

Well, when I get there, I see an abundant amount of PS2 and X-box games up on display.  It turns out that's all they have.  I looked hard and even in the bin of old games and they still don't have GCN games.

I don't get it...why are GCN games doing so bad in certain stores and rental chains?  Honestly, from the looks of it, it would seem like the N64 was doing better than this...

A huge upset...Squall Leonhart's taking down Luigi.

Oh well...I should have known sidekicks aren't as popular as main characters.

Wow...haven't been here in a long while...

Well, anyway, I'm 29/32 damn Jill, Scorpion, and Wario...

Round 2 looks excellent.  Ganondorf vs. Magus, Cloud vs. Auron, Bowser vs. Yoshi, Zero vs. Sonic, Kefka vs. Crono, Kirby vs. Alucard, Ryu vs. Dante (Go Ryu!) and Zelda vs. Mega Man.

Not to mention I feel sorry for Fox...Link is so going to annihilate him and his remains.

Pac-Man vs. Kefka is a close match.  I honestly hope Pac-Man makes a huge upset and beats the legendary Kefka.

CATS!!!!  All you people gotta vote for CATS.
He is the origin of such great phrases as:

All your base are belong to us
It's time to set you up the bomb
What you say!
Main screen turn on
You are on the way to destruction
You have no chance to survive, make your time

Not to mention I think he helped start the 1337 craze.

And now...look all the way at the bottom of the page, where it says Copyright 2003 Planet Gamecube.  What does it say right near there?

Ganondorf won, but the GameFAQs administrator behind the polling of this tournament is checking over the votes to make sure no cheating influenced anything.  Tomorrow or later today, we should see who won.
And yes, Magis is winning against Sam Fisher.

Back after a long absence from these forums...

PIAC, I like the 1337 part of your signature...CATS is god...

Anyway, Link seriously killed AiAi.  That little monkey didn't have a chance once the first poll results were up.  It was saddening, yet nice to see Link getting strong support.

I was also glad to see Fox beat the overrated Pikachu.  As much as Pokemon is popular, Pikachu is not.  Still, I cannot believe Fox whupped Pikachu up 70-30.  That's some skill on Fox's part...

And now...Tidus vs. Ganondorf.  I cannot for the life of me believe Tidus is putting up a fight.  Tidus is one of the weakest FF characters, yet he's showing a strong fight against a villian from one of Nintendo's best series.  C'mon, people, vote for Ganondorf!  And if you don't like him just simply because he has no "character development", play Wind Waker, then see whether he has character development.

Ah man...I'm doing good so far...I spent so many hours analyzing my bracket, trying to come up with the best picks before the contest started.  So far, I believe I may have a perfect bracket.  The only match I am unsure of is Ganondorf vs. Magus...if Ganondrof can even make it past Tidus, who is better known as the male version of Meg Ryan.

So far, I have two points.  If Ganondorf beats Tidus, three points.  YAY!

Very, very true.

Anyway, IMO, video games do have a bad effect.  They slowly take away your sense of reality.  These two people that murdered their family (Ahmad and the one mentioned at the beginning of this thread) probably had their sense of reality destroyed from playing too many video games.  Eventually, life becomes a game to them where killing people does not matter.  Testers actually suffer from this, although none of them went as far as to kill people, from what I hear.

I caught the loach a couple days back.  Turns out if you leave it alone in the pond, it will eventually go to its home near one of the shallow ends of the pool.  Get the sinking lure and get it hooked.  Prepare to reel in and call yourself a damn good fisherman afterwards.

As the ESRB keeps getting better with their ratings system, parents will have no one to blame but themselves eventually when buying their kid a violent or sexual-themed game.

Nintendo Gaming / nintendo to acquire 2 major developers???
« on: June 22, 2003, 06:45:18 AM »
LOL, are some of people serious when you say Nintendo will buy Sega/Capcom?  Do all of you think Nintendo's produces an infinite amount of money to put in its treasury?

Buying Sega/Capcom would leave them with a decent amount of change left in their treasury.  And they will have to support four major second-parties with that change.

Nintendo Gaming / GC2 and Mario 128 info update
« on: June 22, 2003, 06:29:44 AM »
I strongly hope the next Mario is not called Mario 128...

But anyway, good news.  Nintendo's working hard to deliver a console for its third-parties as well as its own development teams.  Nice.

And why do some people assume Too Human is the second coming?

Nintendo Gaming / Forgetting the "older" generation of Gamers?
« on: June 22, 2003, 06:11:18 AM »
I do not think he had any credibility when all the easy games he mentioned were Zelda and Eternal Darkness...

Listening, games are made to be easier to access, and that is why developers put in a difficulty mode.  If you want difficult games that are natural, look back at Nintendo or Super Nintendo.  Games are not going to change anytime soon.  In fact, this situation might get "worse" in your opinion.
