Mario's 25th Anniversary Collection?
« on: September 13, 2010, 04:48:30 PM »
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/svmj/index.html

I can't read Japanese. The website seems to indicate a Mario collection for the Wii however. It would go well with my old Zelda collection on the GameCube...

Edit: Here's an explanation in English. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/65542

Well the game still needs a thread so I guess this can be it.

I would love to see an option to switch between the style of the classic games and the remade style of All-Stars.

What they should really do is include a download ticket for Super Mario World to encourage more people to hop online. The more we get online now, the more that are there at the jump to the next system.

They could do it in the style of Metroid Zero Mission, where beating each game rewards you with the original version of it.

Or they could do it like Secret of Monkey Island where you hit a button and it morph back to the original style right before your eyes.

While it would be nice to have both versions, I think we all know Nintendo won't do that because they won't want to take away sales of them on VC (the VC versions still sell really well).

Are the All-Star versions any different, outside of the graphics? Furthermore, how much do they differ graphically from the GBA titles?

I don't know all the differences, but I know SMB2j (Lost Levels) has some changes to it that make it easier.

GameFAQs has an NES->SNES Changes Guide.

They improved the audio, fixed glitches, added save files, etc. And yes, there are even differences in the GBA versions. TMK has some articles pointing out the differences: http://themushroomkingdom.net/remakes.shtml

I had really hoped that All-Stars would show up on the VC after the other games had been released, but I would like the idea of getting a copy of the game on disc.  Once again, I regret selling off all of my SNES stuff a long time ago.

In addition to all the things mentioned by those sites, I'll say that the updated music instrumentation was pretty nice.   Overall, the package is similar to the Gameboy Advance series except for some of the instrumentation and the aspect ratio of the screen.  It feels less claustrophobic than the GBA stuff, and Mario and Luigi don't shout every time they jump...thank goodness.  The GBA did add more intro stuff for some of the games as well.

Back before the reality of Nintendo marketing hit, and the Wii and VC were newly-announced, my friends and I were talking excitedly about the possibility of getting yet another version of All-Stars with even better graphics and updated, almost orchestrated music.  Yeah, that dream died. :P

I am kinda hoping NoA hold back this title until next year. We already have Galaxy 1 & 2 and NSMBW on the system and I want Donkey Kong and Kirby to get a bit of elbow room in sales-wise. Another Mario holiday season would gobble up everything else. Plus releasing it next year when SMB released in the States would make a lot of sense.

At this point you should just be hoping that NOA releases the game at all.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I'm too busy hoping that Xenoblade and Last Story will release here to hope for this yet. NoA already failed me with Fatal Frame, Tact of Magic and Reginleiv. Not to mention Soma Bringer and ASH...God the list is getting long.
