Nintendo Gaming / RE: Rogue Squadron Targeting Computer
« on: August 03, 2003, 09:19:27 PM »
but how come if you hold down targeting but don't fire anything, the efficiency still goes down?  I think its a product of time as compared to the number of things you kill.  Not directly related to shot accuracy...

it changes randomly?  How randomly?  I thought for sure it only changed if you change it yourself, or if you link up and exchange data with someone.

Well, I've been trying catch that damn fish in Pokemon.  I'm using the go from square to square while surfing on route 19.  Each square I've fished at least 5 times with the old rod.  I'm about halfway through the entire area after a bout a week of on and off trying and still haven't found it.  It supposedly shows up in 6 squares that remain constant as long as you don't change the word in that island town.  Has anyone caught one that has a better technique?  I'm really getting frustrated.

Linksys is releasing an adaptor that will convert the gamecube broad band adaptor into a wire free model.  This is very cool for those of you wanting to lan it up in different rooms of a house.  My question is, will it require an existing wireless router/access point if you just want to play lan games...

too bad its so freaking expensive.

Well i got it, and it is plenty cool...but its too bloody easy so far for me.  I beat the first two tournaments with about a 10 stroke lead over the second place guy.  I hope they get more difficult...

I really think pgc should do more merch...cool pgc t-shirts, e3 chotskis (sp?), dvds, i dunno, they prolly already had this, but if noa doesn't realize how integral a part pgc is to their marketing than they got some issues.  I know you could never get funding and be a somewhat "official" nintendo site, but what about seeing if they could give you some crap to sell....like i dunno, i guess it wouldn't really work.....but maybe they could give you some stuff to just give away...but that doesn't help the money situation...i dunno...if i was the head of marketing for nintendo, i would give great fansitse some free server space or something....

I just started using Opera myself, and I have to say it seems to be better on many things.  Pure speed against my interent explorer is interesting.  I can do a pgc load on each browser and Opera does it in about half the time.  It could just be that my ie has some issues somewhere.  I'm not sure....but I was still thinking pgc was having major server issues until I installed Opera and realized its apparently me...

General Gaming / Micrsoft is now doomed?

blah blah blah, you are a linux pro...blah blah blah, 5 minutes.  Yeah, i know linux too, but most of the people that play xboxes wouldn't have the slightest idea.  I don't care how easy you "say" it is...

like bigjim was saying, this whole easy mod thing is a joke because it isn't that easy.  How many people do you know are gonna be willing to crack open their xbox, slop so solder on, and then boot it up with a linux disc, step through the installation, and then learn enough linux to pirate the games?  It aint gonna happen.  Its not like the Dreamcast where you could just put in a copied game and play away...

General Gaming / GBA Tunnel?
« on: June 23, 2003, 09:06:31 PM »
The voltage is definately an issue.  I always overlook something in my scheming.    Serial would prolly be could, but I wonder if USB would be possible just to make it a little more modern.  I'm definately gonna grab a link up cable and at least see if I can pull it a part and analyze the different signals in a computer.  I'll keep you all posted.

edit: the only thing holding me back is the possibility of frying my gba by sending too much juice back at it or something.  Do you guys think that will be an issue?

Hey, I just dusted off my SNES and hooked it up and I have a strange problem.  It seems one of the rgb channels is not outputting from the system.  Everything has a blue tint.  It isn't the cable cause I've tried multiple ones.  Anyone have and solved this issue before?

General Gaming / GBA Tunnel?
« on: June 21, 2003, 11:45:07 PM »
Here is a theory I'm thinking I may explore a bit but I wanted to bounce it off you guys.

Multiplayer GBAing is something very similar to lan gaming.  Multiple systems, multiple games (usually), cable to send and receive vital information over.  Now, theoretically, if you could rip apart the cable and stick an rj45 plug on you should be able to receive some sort of signals into a computer.  Once those signals were decipherred (if possible) you could then use the hacked together cable to play over a home lan, then just use tunneling technology for online play.  It sounds kind of crazy but you may not even have to decipher the proper signals as long as each rj45 is stuck on in the same way.

Alright, I think i'm gonna go rip open a link cable...

It always upsets me when people buy a ps2 for those games.  I bought my ps2 for games like FF, Ico, DDR, kingdom hearts, etc.  Those games are worth it.  They are actually original things (or sequels to original things =P).  Not just mind numbing time killing things like gta...

ehh, i guess this is flamebait, but i don't care.

Nintendo Gaming / Wind Waker is SOOOOOO Blurry!!!!!!
« on: June 12, 2003, 09:03:36 PM »
I throw my hand up for one pro-blur effect vote.  But where exactly are these vertical lines you speak of?  On the open sea or in a particular level?  I'm not financially fortunate enough to play it in progressive so I didn't see any, but on the same hand, I follow the whole home theater thing quite a bit and this sounds like a curious anomoly.

It seems obvious that the opinions on the blurring seem to strictly follow those who have progressive capabilities and those who don't.  Maybe it does look extremely funky on a progressive tv and nintendo didn't design it for that because that is such a small percentage of the population.  Who knows, new effects like that have to go through trial and error before they can be perfected.
