The technology that allows the Game Boy Advance to act as a video player just got the green light across the Atlantic.

30 Million Consumers in Europe and North America Can Now Enjoy Popular Videos on Their Game Boy(R) Advance or Game Boy(R) Advance SP(TM)

BIRMINGHAM, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2004--Majesco Europe, a business unit of Majesco Sales Inc., the sole operating subsidiary of ConnectivCorp (OTCBB: CTTV), today announced that it has secured approval to apply its new video technology to Nintendo's Game Boy(R) Advance system and create new products for distribution throughout Europe. "Europeans possess a similar enthusiasm for video entertainment as Americans, as well as an appetite for exciting technology. We believe the portability and technological allure of this exciting product will be well received in Europe. Accordingly, here in the United States, we believe this announcement opens a potentially significant revenue opportunity for our European division and expands our excitement regarding this tremendous technology."

I'd rather a Game Gear style TV tuner. I mean, it's a nice idea and all, but just what stuff will we see released on these video carts? Cheap 25 minute Tom and Jerry cartoon knock-offs?

There was a different movie player for the GBA, which used flash cards. You could reencode your movies to work with it and then watch them. It supported MP3 and eBooks as well.
