TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Land Price Drop Coming November 1
« on: October 23, 2013, 09:11:45 PM »
Thanks guys. I'm going to go sell my used Nintendo Land and then download it digitally yes it will still cost me more then I'll sell the disc for, but I'd rather have it digitally.

You sir are crazy...

AND I'M CRAZY RIGHT ALONG WITH YOU! I had the same thought run through my head and will be selling my copy of Nintendoland ASAP to  re-buy it digitally. I've always wanted it digitally and wish they just gave away  an Shop code instead of a disc.

Really looking forward to this. I know it's being released on the eShop on Nov 1st, but is the Fitmeter going to be available also? Or is that being released in December?

I love visual novels and I'm glad more are being localized here in NA. The last dating sim one I played was Sakura Wars: So Long My Love. I want more dating sims on my 3DS.

I'm loving the fact that publishers are putting older retail games up on the eShop. Capcom has been doing it lately, Kid Icarus is coming soon and now Sega with Rhythm Thief, a game that I will more lovely pick up digitally at $20 than physical even if it is cheaper used. I want all rhythm games to be digital.

This is fantastic! Time to sell my physical copy. I bought the game at launch and put over 13hrs into it, but having to swap out the cart just got inconvenient for the type of game it is.

This sounds like the eShop's answer to WipeOut and I will definitely pick this up in the future. I'm finding that there are a lot of quality games from quite a few non-mainstream developers in the eShop. It has supplied many great titles to my 3DS library and I an greatful for reviews like these that draw my attention to them.

People complaining about this sound like bitter, bitter old men. $10 each for one of the most fun multiplayer games of last gen with online functionality and Miiverse sounds great.

Try before you buy? Awesome!

Want to rent games at a rediculously low price for only when family and friends are over for things like holidays and parties?
We got you covered.

Think this whole thing is a scam/too expensive, but you still want to experience WiiSports? Pull out your old copy and play the game in Wii mode on your WiiU for free.

I see nothing but good options for all.

It's going to make things even more confusing for the retarded consumer. The idiots who thought a 3DS was a "3D DS" or the Wii U was simply a "tablet controller for the Wii" are going to be even more confused by the 2DS.

That's the reason I'm in a tizzy.

That's understandable, but:
-The system doesn't look like a 3DS or a DS, so when a kid asks for it there will be little confusion as long as the person buying it sees what it actually looks like.
-The thing plays both 3DS and DS games, so whatever Nintendo branded software the most misguided consumer buys released in the last 7+ years will still be playable on the system.

I can't understand why people are upset about this prodd[ :cool; _(90-

Blasted cat running across keyboard...

I don't understand why people are upset about this product.  This is NOT for handheld gamers (they all have 3DS/XL's already). This is most definitely for kids 10 and under FIRST, the incredibly price conscious individual who is tangentially interested in a 3DS to play with mostly at home SECOND, and those who abhor 3D in all it's incarnations but still want to play games on the system LAST.

I repeat, THIS IS NOT FOR 99% OF YOU.  The comparisons to this looking like a Leap Frog are spot on, this is not a device that is suppose to be played outside by teens or adults. Those criticizing the design clearly either have no children or are unfamiliar with how children treat their toys. I can't tell you how many broken hinged DS's I've seen from various families I know. The one unit slate design is much sturdier than a clamshell. It's also relatable form-factor wise to tablets which more and more children are familiar with.  The control placement is fine (kids don't care about ergonomics) and it makes the system not be top heavy vs. holding the system from the bottom if all the controls were focused there. Finally, the price is attractive enough for parents to consider buying this vs. an OG or XL (or having their kids play their parent's system).

I don't get why people are critical of a hardware solution that is clearly aimed at an entirely different audience from them.  This system only adds more people to the 3DS fold and it doesn't splinter the market on features ( I slide off my 3D setting instantly granting me a 2DS). Do people feel like they have to buy every iteration of hardware?

If you want to play handheld games, buy an XL.
If you are price conscious, get an OG.
If you want to buy a kid a handheld, get a 2DS
If you are waiting for a dual analog 3DS revision, go back to playing consoles or buy a Vita.

People get rather silly sometimes.

The 2DS is a brilliant strategy for Nintendo to market to kids under 12 and to the gamer parents of the world who has kids old enough to enjoy one.

-It offers all the benefits and functionality of a 3DS minus the 3D (which Nintendo was given grief about kids under 6 being negatively effected by stereoscopic 3D)
-Better durability by turning into a slate design and capitalizing on the fact that the kids they are marketing this to will be familiar with the tablet form factor.
-Them pushing the DS library directly speaks to parents that there is a crap load of cheap, kid friendly software available right now if they don't want to invest $40 into new carts.
-Its the cheapest current gen handheld system at $130.
-Pokemon X/Y is coming out right before the holidays.  I can see this system and those games selling a crap ton to kids.

This is something that I am stoked to get my daughter in a year or so ( she's gonna be 5 in January). By that time, I hope Nintendo fleshes out their account system to allow for digital games to be shared across multiple systems (like Vita and PSP or on the iDevices). If not, I'll be going all digital with this for her regardless because you definitely should not trust kids with tiny carts.

It's finally happened to me...a game I just bought goes on sale a week later.  I just got code of princess with the promotional $30 eShop credit.  Oh well, I'm tempted to get soul hackers as well, but I just got SMT4 and don't think it's wise to have two of these games waiting in the wings to be played,

Nintendo Gaming / Re: The Official 3DS System Friend Code Thread
« on: August 12, 2013, 09:50:28 PM »
Depends. When a new system launches, most people adds everyone.  But as time goes on, people either run out of space to add all the new folks (like myself), forget to check this thread if they are still actively looking to populate their friends list, or are totally okay with who they have on their roster and is not interested in getting anymore.

My advice with the 3DS friends system is if you want specific people to mutually add you to their list, the best way to go about it is to PM them with a message that includes your FC and stating that you added them and want you on their list as well. It at least guarantees that you can get their attention.

Good luck  ;D

Yeah, it's weird, but you have to move the SD card contents from the old card to the new card yourself if you want to keep SwapNote stuff and not redownload. The easiest way is to copy the 2GB card contents onto your computer, and then insert the 4GB card and copy the contents onto that.

This is what I did. I first copied the contents of my old 16GB sd card from my OG 3DS onto my computer. Then I put the new 32GB into the XL and did the system transfer (which took about 15min to move 3.5GB of data). After that, it asked to transfer my DSi games to the system memory from the XL's 32 GB card. It said it didn't recognize any sd card, so I copied over the contents of my OG SD card from my computer onto the new 32GB and reinserted it to the XL. I selected to copy over my DSi games again and wah lah! Everything copied over, the system rebooted and I have all my stuff transferred including friends, ambassador games, and even the 4 street passes that are still hanging in my Mii plaza. Was overall a very smooth process.

UPDATE:

$100 in eShop credit ($102.00 for OG 3DS trade in!). I love gaming the system for maximum savings.  My only wish is that the Digital Deluxe program extended to the 3DS eshop so I could another free $10 for the eShop. Oh well.

Just bought mine (doing system transfer as I type) and I'm super psyched! Immediately I prefer the matte finish of the XL vs the shiny exterior of the OG 3DS. Also, I'm loving all the curves of the design.  I've never had an issue playing the system for long intervals like some, but holding onto the XL, it is instantly much more comfortable to grip and feels more akin to an actual controller which is nice,

To those in the market for a black XL (or any color for that matter), check out your local Target. I got this Black 3DS XL (on its launch day no less) for $175.00 on sale this week! I'm gonna also trade in my OG 3DS to Gamestop which is giving double credit on used systems this week as well. I'm gonna flip that credit into eshop cards and finally take advantage of that Fire Emblem/ SMTIV deal and pick up some other stuff that I've been waiting to get as well.  In anticipation of all this, I got a new 32GB Sony ( ;) ) SD card for $20 off amazon to hold all my digital goodies.

I'm so excited!

You probably want to update the story now. Iwata apparently posted on Miiverse that NA is getting the demo later today. Please Understand.

For real?!

It's a European promo... shame, I'd love to give Animal Crossing 1% again.

Boo! Oh well, I'll just have to spend the money.
