loading problems...cannot find server
« on: October 03, 2003, 04:42:41 PM »
i keep having major loading problems.  i have broadband and a fast pc so I know it isn't me.  the site is f'n up a lot latly guys.  I'm having to reload multiple times.  I'm talking like almost a dozen times sometimes to get a page.

by the way.  what is wrong with saying C elda.  it isn't a four letter word and the censoring really kills the whole idea of speaking your mind.  If I say C elda instead of zelda that is my expression of either distaste, enjoyment, or nuetral feel about the game.  It also differentiates C elda from the realistic mythic Zelda that may never come out for the N5.  What did Nintendo say C elda hurts the game sales so we can't say it?  Or are you really listening to the whining of the censoring fanboys who want nothing posted that is unbiased or out of the box when it comes to opinions.

unbiased?  out of the box?  No, it's just lame, and I got tired of hearing it. The visual style does not keep it from being worthy of the Zelda name.

And we have several threads on the site problems. Yes, we hate them more than you do.

Ask yourself: Do you rather want WW's style or anime style? Because OOT went in the direction of the latter.

HAHAHA.  Your biased shows through.  I was an advocate of cel shading in Zelda from the first day I saw Sonic Shuffle.  I knew it would bring out the feel of the series more than realistic graphics.  I knew it would look more like well a 2d game and hence feel like the zeldas of old.  I wasn't a fan of OoT's graphics.  I still would like to experience a more living breathing world in Zelda with perhaps realistic graphics sometime in the future, but now on these consoles realism is just plain boring and uninspired.  In my opinion C elda is a great way to describe the cel shaded zelda.  I can't believe you banned a word for being annoying.  Next you'll give into the wants of the fanboys and ban words like rehash because people keep saying nintendo is lacking ambition in their games these days.  By the way I may have loved WW and its graphics but it is also the worst Zelda with the exception of the CDi games in my opinion.

My list would start with a LInk to the Past and second would be OoT.  No wait I take what I just said back.  WW is the second worst.  Because Zelda 2 on nes just wasn't my kind of Zelda.

and by the way, why is th site messing up so much.  too many hits?

nemo, there are two topics that explain what's up with the site.  Look at the threads titled "pgc is back in the hizzouse" and "pgs site/forums don't load".  The mods gave several responses there as to why there have been so many problems.

As far as the C elda issue, I'm glad they banned it.  There was plenty of time given before and after the game's release to use the term to show your opinion.  At this point that term is pretty much being used to start arguments.  Haven't you been able to get your point across before now?  How long do we have to hear whining and complaining about Wind Waker for crying out loud?

Wind Waker is a Zelda game regardless of how it looks- it's time your learned that right here and now. If you need to refer to Wind Waker, you can say Wind Waker, or if you're really lazy just say WW. Calling it C elda not only refers to Wind Waker but also demonstrates your distaste for the game's direction (which wasn't very different at all), and we've had more than our share of debates concerning whether Wind Waker should have been cel chased or not. It's in the past, get over it. You shouldn't be getting so worked up over a name anyway.

Mouse are you hard of hearing.  I like the design style of WW.  The individual style of the game is not in question here.  The question is why is me calling it a clever name illegal around here.  Face it some people are too sensitive about their games.  You have to watch what you say as if your opinion is a racist coment.  These are games people.  They are works (sometimes) of art to be criticized.  C elda is the most artisticly expressive game ever.  It has consitencies within the style that other games could only dream of.  I have an associates degree in art (I know woopty doo associates degree, but I'm on my way) and I know a lot about art.  I hope they don't abanden cel shading in Zelda next gen.  I would like an alternative type Zelda to be released that features Disney quality animation and hopefully a more natural (less abstracted) style of design.

nemo, some people think it's clever to say M$ or $ony, or GheyCube, or 1337 or, whatever else.  The fact of the matter is that nobody likes it when people do that.  It gets old REALLY fast, and many of us are just sick of watching the language be cannabalized.

nemo, what you have to understand is that it simply isn't about the way YOU use the term.  The use of that term generally reflects a bad attitude, and degrades intelligent discussion into flame wars.  By simply getting rid of an inflammatory term like that, we can keep from locking threads and banning people.

I hadn't even noticed the C word lately, so I just figured people stopped using it.  Looks like that was wrong, but any case I agree with the removal of the word, it always pissed me off and gave me the impression that the people who called Zelda by the wrong name hadn't even played the game.

Saying "C(z)elda" was good because it gave a synonym for "Cell shaded Zelda" basically.

Matt said it.  Right there, the literary value of the term has been expressed.  I see your point of trying to avoid flame wars, but the flamers will keep flaming with other words.  The problem is when someone like myself calls it that, not in a teasing way, and then gets flamed by fourteen crazy Nintendo zombies.

I know you can censor any word you choose, but I wish you would look at the situation as any court of law would.  If it is proven that a work contains within any literary, scientific, artistic, historical, or mathematic value that the work is completly legal.  Trust me, I know my porn history.  Don't be Hitler and burn words just because the sword in the mouth is stronger than the one in the fist.

It has nothing to do with being "Hitler".  It has to do with the fact that this is NOT a public forum, as the rules make quite clear.  We have every right to restrict usage of any and all words we choose, especially ones known to cause flamewars.

Nemo, it's like this.  If someone comes into my house, and starts telling me how much AOL rules, I will throw him or her right out my door.  If someone comes into my house and starts talking in 1337 on my computer, I will throw him right out my door.

You are coming into PGC's forums, and irritating all of us.  Do the math.
